Back up....Spark killed read receipts for new users back in 2015....are they coming back??

The current beta on Insight has them, yes. Denys Zhadanov is tweeting the beta link via his Twitter account. May not make release as they're currently deciding on the pros and cons...

Yes, they are now available in beta for iOS. Go to https://insight.readdle.com/com.readdle.beta.smartemail Open iOS Settings -> General -> Profiles or Device Management -> Readdle Inc and tap Trust.

Ok, I must say that I’m really enjoying the Spark beta so far! Love that you can have a different color for each account, and love customization for the swipes, sidebar, and widgets.

One thing.....both Spark and Canary use a separate screen to see read receipts.....one REALLY nice thing Newton does is that the read receipt notification is in each individual email. What are the chances we can get that in Spark??

I just have to give a thumbs up to Readdle, the Docs app and especially PDF Expert which I bought for Mac are excellent.

I’ve also given feedback about including read receipt icons in the emails themselves.

You can try Spark developed by our team at Readdle. It works on macOS and iOS, and an Android version comes soon.

We want to build the best email client for business, and we already have millions of users. Spark has most of the features you're talking about. You can snooze emails or schedule them to be sent later, and our smart inbox works with multiple accounts. There are also some cool features for team collaboration: share drafts and links to emails, discuss and create emails with your team.

As for separate read receipts, it's a great idea, and we should definitely think about adding this feature!

Bring on the android version and I'll switch. Newton is going to leave a hole on my ipad and galaxy phone :(

Canary support is appalling, I’ve messaged them through the app about a number of bugs (there are plenty) and had no reply at all. Even resorted to Twitter and the same, no response. They have now dropped off my shortlist...

I wonder if there is a current limit on read recipients. Airmail (if I am not mistaken) is limited to 10 at a time. I would be surprised if the beta read receipts are individual. If so, that would be nice.

Newton allowed us to see where the user was located when they read our email. Would like that as well.

Edited to add again: I wouldn't be surprised if Spark went to subscription with the next new full official release.

Are you still testing Canary? Are you finding it buggy, slow, half finished and clunky?

Here are just a few things I've raised to support over the past few days, but not received a single response: -

1) In the "light theme" of the iPhone version the in-email bottom bar is dark, rather than light. The iPad is fine though.
2) Some of the avatars look squashed and pretty bad. PayPal and British Gas look awful.
3) Swiping needs to be added to the activity stream as accessing the three buttons at the top is a stretch.
4) The "unified inbox" setting seems to break the view if you switch it off you can't get it back.
5) The email rendering is pretty bad as it cuts off words and continues them on the following line underneath. It's also MUCH slower then any other app.
6) The "Default" setting under "Aliases" keeps reverting to "Default", even if de-selected.
7) Read receipts are hit or miss.
8) SUPPORT IS NON-EXISTENT.

I'm glad that you like Spark! Thank you for the suggestion on read receipts, I'll pass this to our product team
By the way, different colors for each account and customizable swipes/widgets are already available in the normal version.

I think dcpmark was saying that they liked the different colours and swipes in Spark, rather than saying they like that in the beta. Guessing they've never used Spark before.

Read receipts in the actual emails would be much better and far easier to review at a glance. Perhaps using a greyed out tick for "unread" and blue or green tick for "read". You should then be able to tap on the tick to get more information via a pop-up or alternatively take you to the "read receipts" card.

I am juggling Canary, Airmail, and Spark.

I haven’t tried tech support with Canary, yet, although I have encountered some minor bugs. I did contact Spark last night and got a reply overnight. I like that.

My first message to support over their "chat" was 13/08 and heard nothing back. That alone puts me off them as the customer service with Newton was lightning quick... I'm trying both Spark and Airmail at the moment, it's quite close to be honest.

I agree about Newton. Every time I contacted them, I got a reply the same day.

With Spark beta, the read receipt is not easy to see. There should be a read receipt folder that holds your read receipt emails until you discard them, or have the option to automatically remove after X amount of time.

Newton had it right with read receipts. I agree with your suggestions.

Newton hit it out of the park with read receipts, this is why it's so hard finding something similar. Airmail does read receipts well to an extent, I just don't like the eye icon, reminds me of the Illuminati lol

Yes, that’s correct....never used Spark myself before.

Having trouble with read receipts.....only sent out 2 emails since installing the Spark beta, one was opened by the recipient right in front of me, and there is nothing in the Read Receipts folder. Read Receipts are on in the Settings on both my phone and iPad. Any ideas?

Maybe they block images on their email client which would stop the tracking pixel from working?

Nope, so that is pretty weird.

False alarm....got a receipt from the email I sent this morning, so all is working now. I’m chalking up last night’s email read receipt issue to a poor signal area where the email I sent had some high-res photos.....it’s likely that she never fully downloaded the email, so I never got the read receipt.

Good job! The read receipts have been pretty solid for me to be honest.
