Apollo is easily one of the very best iPhone apps. It's a damn shame that Reddit's management is taking the Muskish way out and effectively shutting off API access with exorbitant pricing.

An ideal compromise would've been requiring third party clients to display Reddit ads while exempting ads for Reddit Premium users.

I hope someone is working on open-source fediverse-based alternative to Reddit.

Reddit without Apollo is not worth it to me. I’ve already deleted my Twitter account. Reddit is next.

This is a really bad precedent for social media. Tinfoil hat moment but I can’t help but feel some sort of conspiracy brewing by the powers that be. Social media connections were really what brought humanity up to speed with each other, and it helped us resist and protest the elite in so many ways. It feels like they’re doing this on purpose to disconnect all of us again.

I really hope we can get back to an open and free internet soon. One that is not driven by profits.

One would think that the pricing reflects the monetization of users on their own app, but I somehow doubt that.

So disappointing. The Apollo app is SO good. I miss the internet of the 2000s and early 2010s. It used to be such a freeing, creative place to be. Now, it seems like everything that used to be good about the internet is going or has gone away.

Reddit is a place with full of punks just like people talking shxxs all day long standing at the street corners in real life.

I personally never wish it existed in the first place.
You obviously only looked in the areas of this. The subreddits I go on are extremely helpful. I get better help with HomeKit on there than here.

The Apollo app is great and far better than the official Reddit app.

Yep I’ve found Reddit to be great. Probably because communities can moderate themselves and you can stay out of communities and away from people you’re not interested in. Much easier than with Twitter. There’s not as much of an algorithm out to mess with your mental health.

Reddit's app is crap and riddled with ads unless you want to pay $60 a year which is way over what Apollo charges for a better experience. Bye bye Reddit when this goes live. Greed continues to ruin what were once good social media platforms.
