Yeah, I guess waiting for it to lower itself to the golden subterranean standards of Eloser's ****ter is a more realistic bet. Same **** either way, and it appears it's mostly already there. Here's to the next round of "performance-based layoffs!" 🥂✨
have no clue what you're trying to say. lmao

not going to bother continuing. have a good one.

Doesn’t that seem a little insane?
Reddit is your typical super fun and freestyle social media that doesn't turn a buck easily - it's insane it's gone on this long without a solid, growing business model.

Unfortunately this is the reason why third-parties like Apollo and Stellar feel the heat when the source turns to a higher access/licence fee to generate cash - see what Twitter's API fee hike did for third-parties like Hootsuite a short while back. This is effectively going to kill them, even if they try to raise their price to just break even.

In this economy, all that's left is to have another egomaniac billionaire buy out Reddit and turn it into a big mess.

I know people love Reddit, but I’ve never been able to get into it, I absolutely hate being asked every time I visit a link if I want to continue on safari or chrome. I would be using the browser I’m using if I didn’t want to use it.

Due to the general decline of the internet, we've hit a disturbing situation to where the only way to find accurate, not-SEOed-to-hell information is by using Google to search a topic, filtering for Reddit posts.

If Reddit dies I'm not sure anyone's going to be able to find anything at this point.

because people can pay $8/mo and get their comments boosted to the top, even if their opinions are crap and/or get no engagement. Doesn't mean it's good for the majority user experience

the UX from the $8/mo that the majority gets is keeping the lights on. that is a good thing.

you think Google search would still be alive if it weren't for sponsored links at the top of the first page of your search?

If my choices are a.) use the stock Reddit app with ads and tracking or b.) never use Reddit again… I guess my Reddit account will be joining my FB and Twitter accounts in the dumpster of social media.
I prefer Reddit in the browser (with ad blocking) over the official app. Neither are no where near as good of an experience over Apollo though.

Reddit can still reverse this, but I think I might end up closing my account if it goes into effect and Apollo has to shut down. The site is a nice resource for things, but I’m sure I can find an alternative.

Reddit is a cesspool echo chamber. Hopefully it goes the way of the dodo (Twitter) very soon. :)
I got hooked on Reddit due to having some forums with topics of interest, ranging from one for the car I drove to a good home improvement and financial advice forum. But yeah -- this is also true. It really feels like a heavily left-wing biased site full of people who will downvote anything you say, if it offends them in some fashion or runs counter to their belief system.

I didn't even think I posted anything there particularly "polarizing", but you have to walk on eggshells around there to avoid anything that triggers someone. (I mean, people were getting absolutely torn to shreds on the financial advice forum just because they suggested not paying rent was a valid reason to get evicted. Landlords should clearly eat all expenses for anyone struggling due to job loss or medical issues they didn't have insurance for, or ??)

u
The original Reddit App version is way too confusing and cluttered!

Where do you even start from? 😌
