again, many write like Prtenzo is a start up and using our money for seed money - are there not many ipad1 cases out there? The company is established with a good track record...

On the one hand, they are a bunch of artists hand making beautiful custom cases and we should cut them some slack for keeping out money. On the other hand they are a well established company with a good track record, in which case they have poor billing practices.

They can't be both.

Whatever good reputation they did have is evaporating fast in this thread.

One prior poster in this thread estimated that they had about 6000 orders based on his order number. If half pay with paypal and an average order is $70, that's $210,000 without a single product in the hands of a customer. (this is obviously speculation, but that's all we have to go on at the moment)


and on the part of companies getting release dates wrong, no one did a worse job than apple with the white I4 phone...

Apple didn't take your money and tell you that your white iPhone would ship in 2 weeks.
 
My Octavo has shipped

Just got my shipping notification from Pad&Quill that my case has shipped. Now we will see how good it is. I will post a review on this forum when I get it. I ordered this last Saturday and today is Tuesday. They promised three day shipping, well, I guess they delivered.

This thread has degenerated into a steaming pile. It is a sad display of the instant me me want want now now culture. If you feel portentous partying it up with your case money I'm sure coming here and posting isn't going to help the situation. Take it up with your credit card company or PayPal.

I mean think about it. They probably didn't have a model of the iPad before March 11. It has been only 18 days since the freaking thing was released. Not to mention I'm sure they received orders from more people than just MacRumors posters. If you pre ordered on March 3 you still have to wait just like everyone else for the iPad's release on 3/11. And....you probably weren't the first person with the bright idea to pre order. Odds are others had the same idea.

Mean it has only been 18 days with weekends included.

If you can't wait cancel your order and order from someone else. I'm sure they won't mind and you'll be happier. This thread makes iPad owners look like manic OCD ADD ADHD sufferers.

I don't know about you but I'd rather they take their time and get my case right than send me some mass produced crap that ends up scratching my iPad or risks it falling out.

Imma let you finish but one more thing....look at the lack of quality accessories out on the market for the iPad 2 right now. You can score tons of cheap Chinese stuff but most everyone else has coming soon or ship dates in April, including screen protector makers. I think Portenzo made a mistake trying to get stuff out before April and allowing pre-orders but they did try. New companies make mistakes but it doesn't make them crooks.

Job production, always the best! I'll be ordering one of these bad boys for when I'm out with my iPad 2. The smart case is only really good for home use in my opinion since it is easily marked and does not protect the rear.

I ordered mine this past Saturday at 11pm and just got my shipment notice.

I will also add that the founders at Padd and Quill have been very responsive both in emails and on their Facebook questions with respect to answering questions.

I do not think it would be a major stretch for someone at Portenzo to take 30 minutes to do same. Would solve a lot of the issues people here have. In any event, once the Octavo arrives, will post pics and review.

It is really sad to see people turn so quickly... Portenzo cases have been alive and well for the first gen iPad and are of top notch quality. So what if you have to wait a bit for your case, it will be well worth it.

Please don't make the claim that portenzo is superior to competitors when there are no comprehensive reviews from either products.

Oh boy, this place is getting heated up!! Portenzo didn't just start with the iPad 2, it started with iPad 1, and the people that owned the cover for the 1st one can testify that the product is worth getting it for the second generation. Nobody likes to wait, I wished I had it by now, I'm in the 5000's that preorder the case so it can be any minute as well as sometime next month. Nevertheless, even as much as I look around I can't find one that I like as much, the case is professional as well as casual. I saw the Dodocase 2 and I'm not interested so I just need to wait.

I tend to forget that when it comes to apple products people tend to protect them as they gave birth to them and wrap them up as quickly as they get their hands on them. Yes it is just a case, yes it sucks that if you use paypal you got screwed but the reason why this forum has gotten so many responses was that at the beginning, we came to speculate and get answers from Daren about the product, but now it has turn to a witch hunt. If you have to blame something for the delay might as well aim your torches to the damn Morocco material since thats the one that took forever to arrive to the workshop (Again I'm just speculating from what I read, I don't work for Portenzo!)

So I was proactive about this whole thing, got some skin protectors for the iPad so it doesn't get scratch and got some Vinyl Decal from Etsy now I'm using it naked.. but Tattooed Lol. I doubt Portenzo will run with my money, but if he does, I can call my credit card company and make a case out of it, all companies know the wrath of the credit companies I'm sure.

Now the last thing I want is that Darin comes over here and start getting depress cause of the bad mouthing comments that some have started Lol he has been nice enough to atleast answer some questions in the past and when the time comes he will give us an update I'm sure. Did you have an ipad 1 sleeve if so use that. I got an ipad 2 gela skin and an ipad 1 sleeve I had to wait it out.

Well there was someone here had an order number of 5000 and has not received any word yet. Mine was 6950. I do not know if they are sequential but it could be a while based on what I have read so far. So if you are an at risk gadget owner, you may want to cover that baby up for a long Spring.

I have an Octavo which will hold me over or be my long term solution if it is as good as some of the early reviews say.

Yeah. Its my first iPad. Sent my smart cover back -- like an idiot -- when I ordered the portenzo. Trying to decide whether to get the smart cover while I wait or switch to the Octavo. Can't wait to see the P&Q in action and hear reviews!

The fact that they are not responding makes me think they might be about to ship a bunch. Silence the doubts with action... Maybe that's just optimism.

That's what I don't understand. This thread started out extolling the virtues of Portenzo, and now it's turning not a discussion about how great the competition is.

The delays is one thing. The thing that irks me is the lack of communication.
