Not so fast. Google them and you'll find stories of the inside paper easily ripping and them charging customers shipping both ways to fix it. It's not as black and white as you're trying to make it.

Since I ordered a Treegloo case (with cloth interior), I obviously hope the case is really good. Won't know til I get it. Was just checking out their active Facebbook page. Following is their response to a post asking about reports of their paper liner ripping:

Ed, No the paper peeling issue no longer occurs. It's odd as the review everyone reads about was a prototype that made it's way to ebay; we replaced it at no cost which has become our standard response in the rare occasion someone has a problem with a case.

This is good to hear. But I will live with my Octavo until we get some MR folks to thoroughly test the TreeGloos

Portenzo is not his full-time gig. So he can only produce so many at once. Everyone relax. By Summer you should most likely have your gorgeous cases.

People with real jobs need to earn before they can make cases for others.

Shhhhh don't tell'm that! Rofl. I am disapointed I what I read myself. They were my backup to Portenzo. Now I'm just Portenzo.

But, those who can't wait...let them experiment. Maybe things have changed.

No need to start any negative info about Treegloo, I talked to them (unlike Portenzo) about it and he mentioned that was a beta model that had an issue, it has LONG been fixed and there are no issues.

Nice try.
 
Well, I guess it depends what level of customer service you want to offer. Even if Portenzo never posts on this board, at minimum they should respond to customers email within 48 hours (or give a phone number where we can reach them). In my job, if I didn't respond to all my customer requests in 24 hours, and did this repeatedly with multiple customers, I would probably be out of a job quickly.

I can't speak to the email response times, as I haven't sent them any emails. To my knowledge, Darin has posted at least twice addressing and apologizing for the email backlog issue. If you're not happy with the customer service, then, by all means, cancel your order and take your money elsewhere. Stop hanging around this board trying to find justification in the actions of others.

And yes this is a rumor site but this is a serious discussion thread about an existing, physical product, and not some rumor. If my livelihood depended on it and I owned that company, I would be posting here regularly.

This ceased to be a serious discussion thread at least ten pages ago. As for the excellent level of service that you would provide if you owned the company, call us back when you're the man in charge. We'll be sure to hold you to it. Once again, it has only been seven business days. To my knowledge, there aren't alot of Treegloos, Octavos or Dodos in forum members' hands yet either

The treegloo's wood doesn't look quite as nice :(. But I like the options better. And their customer service is top notch....

Tough choice!

ordered pad & quill octavo (blue, with pocket) on sunday, shipped tuesday, received today (express shipping), cancelled portenzo today.

could not be happier with the octavo - construction quality is excellent and I really like the bound leather they are using for the outside of the case. if anyone was wondering, the case strap covers the camera hole nicely, and the magnet in the cover turns the ipad on like a charm.

any questions about the octavo, just ask!

Sounds pretty vague.

Buy hopefully true. If so, one down, 3,998 to go. At this rate, the Portenzo will make an awesome Christmas present.

See if Darin can throw in some free wrapping paper.
 
Where is the guy who started this thread? I see he has moved on and bought a Yoobao. Can't blame him. But at least he drummed up enough business for the fine folks of Portenzo who are holding over $100K of our money!

I have some questions regarding the Octavo. Couple things have held me back. But have these questions:
1. How are corners? Pictures look a little unfinished.
2. How is the camera port finished out....again same issue.
3. The wooden frame looks like it is about the same size as the Portenzo for iPad1...what say you?
4. How well does it hold the "Pad"? Shake wise?
5. How's the sound port?

yah.. i created an octova thread and there is a treegloo thread.. if/when you receive your cases take pics and post a review.. i will do the same.. whichever i get first :D
 
Really hate how this has turned into a Portenzo conspiracy / Treegloo / Octavo thread. Contribute to other discussions, not this one, if you decided to switch your order.

Perhaps its because Portenzo took people's money and has since gone dark.
 
take it for what it's worth.... but I just got a response 20 mins ago from Darin on a cancellation request I made today, that my case was complete and about to be shipped. he asked me to confirm the cancellation....

i told him to go ahead and ship it, and let me know a tracking number etc. we'll see when it shows up!

Wasn't there supposed to be a final options email before they actually completed it? I take it that email never arrived?

well thats cool.. when did you preorder? i never got an email response my wife was thinking bout upgrading to 23.5 and me to levant from morocco.. no email :(

my order number was 68xx.... placed the order 3/22 around 6:20pm PST. so technically not a "pre-order" since they were starting to ship 3/21.

hopefully Darin will chime in here soon with some progress updates....

btw, i was originally set up for Morroco and switched to Levant.... but never received a confirmation email for that. i did send Darin another email confirming Morroco or Levant... to be honest, i am not really bent on either one, as long as i can get the cover before i leave on my trip in a week or so....
