I ordered a Levant on 15th March, and I have nothing to show for it at all :(

I think pre-orders got lost in the mail and they are not admitting it.

Many people I know who ordered around 3/20-3/25 (levant only) have just received tracking info.

If you pre-ordered I would follow up

I don't use Facebook but checked Portenzo's page after the talk about updates on there. I wish they updated their Twitter with the same info as can be found on their facebook page (since they aren't e-mailing or posting on their company website):

"Any remaining Composition orders placed before 4/1 will ship no later than Friday, April 15th. All orders will go out with FedEx 2-day shipping."

This info is good to know - I posted it here in hopes that it helps a few others. My composition order went in on 3/16 (although in fairness to Portenzo, they weren't scheduled to be available until 3/28 so the wait isn't too bad). Can't wait to get it!

I could not agree with you more...

I have the black leather Portenzo Alano for the original iPad and I am very satisfied with the case. My iPad does not come out of it. The quality, fit, and finish of my Portenzo case is superb.

For those of you waiting for a case, be patient. Remember that Portenzo is a small company trying to meet a growing demand that comes from creating and selling a great product.

By the way, several months ago while I was getting out of my car I lost my balance. I was holding my daughter and my Portenzo / iPad was in my other hand. I knew I was going to fall and I had a decision to make... drop my daughter or drop the iPad. Well, I dropped the Portenzo / iPad on my concrete driveway. The iPad suffered no damage but the Portenzo case cracked severely.

I sent Darin an e-mail about purchasing another leather Alano. I also told him why I was buying another one. Guess what, he told me to send the case to him. In less than ten days he returned it to me... fixed, free of charge.

Based on my customer service experience with the company and based on the quality product they sell, I for one will continue to purchase Portenzo products for every iPad I buy.

DId you follow this thread? What did you think?

Yes, I am following this thread. I think that the lack of communication by a business to its customers is never a good thing. Communication can make or break a company. Even if it does make a good product. I'm sure there are several 'lessons learned' that Portenzo as a company should consider and apply.

Having said that, the 'piling on' mentality exhibited in this thread is no longer amusing.

Everyone has options... 1) Wait for your case or 2) Buy a case made by some other manufacturer.

Michael

I'm mostly- Johnny come lately to this thread, though not to Portenzo. Just a quick echo for the disgruntled: their cases are worth the wait.

As soon as they outline their coming exotics line (also considering an Alano) I'm putting an order in.

The boar skin case I have for my iPad 1 is absolutely beautiful and has aged wonderfully. Great products these Portenzo cases...

Ok the fanboys will probably get upset, but Portenzo is handling this badly.

1st They have email addresses, why haven't they sent an email saying, "hey we really appreciate your business, but orders exceeded our expectations, and if you ordered case style X it will be delayed."

2nd they need to go out of stock on the style that is not available. It is better to be out of stock and be notified when it's back in stock, than to think there is an order actually being worked on.

3rd fix the inconvenience. split an upgrade, throw in an option for free, something. Making lemonade out of lemons is always better.

I shouldn't have to look on a forum or Facebook to find an update, they have an order status page, USE IT...

This is an opportunity to shine, and instead they are losing business to their competition...

You could probably call me a fanboy because I have stuck by Portenzo. I think we can agree that they have a nice product. However... I agree with this. When a problem like this happens, it's good business to get in front of it instead of either playing defense, or like they did, ignore the issue and hope it goes away.

I haven't received my case yet, but I know when I do, it will be great. I just wish I would have known when I ordered it 4 weeks ago today, that I would have to wait a long time.

I'm sure it was an honest mistake, they mis-calculated the demand, the production times, the supply of materials, etc. That's fine, but when things start to go wrong, make them right. I would be happy with better communication.

I have a 23.5 shipping some time next week, I'll be sure to post pics when I get it.

I thought about doing that, but at this stage I don't think they need more emails asking for order status. I'm a fairly patient person so I can wait it out.

If You ordered early and haven't heard anything. I'd email them today with your order # and ask for progress. I wonder if something happened technically and they lost those early orders or something.

well still no tracking information.. was told both would ship this week.. morocco order changed to levant and other changed to 23.5

And I'd keep in mind that they might not respond right away as they are catching up on old emails and probably have a ton to get through. I'm sure there are some exceptions. My emails asking about custom cases options/SeventySix were answered sighing 24 hours.

I totally agree, if you pre-ordered and/or changed to a Levant and you haven't or will not hear any shipping information by this weekend, start emailing them and ask where is your stuff. I heard some emails getting lost on cases that were suppose to have shipped already.

It may be even better to forward the pre-order confirmation with a note reminding them that you haven't heard anything. :(

I'm in the same boat in regards to 23.5 case. As of their most recent promise 23.5 preorders are out of their door by Monday, if they delay again, they're crap to me, and some other company shall get my money >=[

I will not do request.

Here you go 23 1/2. Sorry my camera is pitiful at macro. Seriously Portenzo's website pictures do it much more justice. The case is clean and looks exactly like I thought it would based on the pictures from their site. Camera hole is cleaned and aligned. Magna grip works flawlessly (does not activate when folded back). Very compact. Corners are slightly less rounded compared to the levant pictures, which is definitely due to the cover material being thicker. I also no by first hand since I have a Morocco first gen portenzo case. Not really worried about this getting dirty as I originally thought. 10/10 imo. It is exactly what I wanted and expected. Order placed once on 3/23 @ 7:30pm (no modifications to order or an update from previous one), shipping notification @ 4/6 6:10pm, and delivered 4/8 11:15am. As other people have said who have received their case, it is worth the wait. Also to be noted I have a BSE on the back of my iPad and it fits fine.

Wow, thanks for posting the pics benjayman2. The 23 & 1/2 looks AMAZING!!!

Definitely made my decision harder. I was gonna wait for the SeventySix, but I exchanged emails with Darin (a couple of emails just in the last hour) and looks like SeventySix won't even be available for order until end of April. He said they just got their supplies in for Compositions, so I FINALLY decided on a Composition. I placed my order, #9432. I'll let you all know when I get mine and post some pics.

More comparison photos added above. Just in case anyone wanted to judge the size even more relative to other things the average iPad owner has.

Just curious on how stable it feels when it's folded back in horizontal table-top viewing mode? I read the strap is good for this scenario to stabilize it in this configuration. I opted for no strap, so I am wondering if I will regret that decision. Thanks!

I don't want to go into specifics, but I received a email from darin and liz about my 23.5 order that has restored my waning faith in TP.

I shall extend my patience for another 1-2 weeks.

Gorgeous 23.5 pictures BTW <3~~~

any hints on what they said?

also.. i wonder what the 23.5 would look like with a white elastic strap?

Its nothing special or important, it just feels nice when customer support actually is back in existence.........

Blue....they do allow a white elastic on the 23.5' it's a caption under one of the 23.5 FB pictures, but they also advise against the white elastic unless you plan on keeping your hands super clean :p

But yeah, the white elastic for 23.5 is available upon request, if they haven't built yours, try to get it if you want it, they seem to be back to decent email response time.

Honestly, it needs a strap to be in that position. I don't have my old portenzo with me at the moment, but being that the binding is so new it starts close back up in that position without the strap.
