Portenzo iPad 2 Case: Now a Smart Cover

I have never even heard of clear bumpers anywhere on the Portenzo site or Facebook page. I also ordered a Composition to go with my white iPad. Could you elaborate more on what they are and where you got your info from. Also did you order a strap+MagnaGrip, strap only or MagnaGrip only? Just curious if I am the only Composition order that went with MagnaGrip only. Thanks!
Unless my eyes are tricking me, if you look at the photographs posted on their website for the 23 and a half, the bumpers are not black nor white. They look clear. I assumed they'd have those since they put it in a sample photograph so I asked if they could put those in my composition case. I also got MagnaGrip only because I thought it would look less note bookish with it. It makes me feel giddy that I can possibly trick people into believing it's an actual notebook.

Sounds like your monitor probably needs to be calibrated or adjusted. The smart cover in that picture is definitely gray.
My guess is that is from the prototype and the final product has the usual black ones as a default. They have this disclaimer on the 23 & 1/2 product page:
The design for this case is pending and subject to change.
Let me know if they respond though since they do custom cases and might have clear bumpers available.
Yah mine are most certainly black normal bumpers just like my gen 1 portenzo. I'm certainly not complaining. They also removed the engraving of "23 1/2" near the dock connector, which I'm still not sure if I'm really concerned about.
they really should be using a clear bumper... the black ones look like shit esp with a white iPad.

Well you better tell them you want those bumpers because you seem pretty adamant about it. I'm okay with it though and IMO looks fine to me with my white iPad.
As for the engraving I did inquire about it but didn't get a response yet. I'll let you know.

I was considering the 23 & 1/2 for a while and even though they say the design is subject to change, I would have assumed at least that engraving was a specific feature that makes this model special, so I would be upset if that was left out.
I opted for the Composition though, and I would not be happy if I got it and it didn't have that design in the front that says Composition Notebook. But historically they seem to handle issues like this very well, so that makes me feel better. I did see a comment someone posted on Facebook asking if anyone else noticed that the inner black liner on their Composition cases was slowly staining the wood frame from constant contact when it's closed. Not too long after it was posted, the comment was removed (either by the person or by the Portenzo staff). Maybe they settled privately. Hopefully that won't be an issue for the rest of us.
I am so excited to get this case. This is my first iPad and this case is my sorta thing. Thanks for the pics everyone and keep them coming so the rest of us still waiting can keep the excitement going.

I got the black on black. I love the look. Everything looks solid. If you like color then you should go bright to get a different look but if the color will be dark anyway, black on black looks sleek and stealth.

After seeing the pics here (thanks everyone!), I've decided to cancel my 23.5 and get either a Levant notebook or composition II. I cancelled yesterday and received a response from Portenzo within an hour or two. They also mentioned that I might like the seventy-six, so I assume it will be coming soon. That said, the notebook and composition really seem my cup of tea at the moment. Now which one??. The pics of the white iPad in the composition look awesome. And I think the composition also looks great with the new birch frame. But the notebook has such a classic look to it...hard not to want!

But the notebook has such a classic look to it...hard not to want!I noticed this also, I ordered the 23.5 because it's white and wood. The black bumpers don't look good with the overall look of 23.5. Their website doesn't show black bumpers. I have emailed them to make sure mine don't have the black bumpers.
i do not like the idea of black bumpers... but im just too lazy to inform portenzo... i hope they make it a standard after seeing this... i think clear bumpers will be cool or at least bumpers (with colors matching to the wood frame).

Eek I hope no colors rub off of my composition. it'd be bad if it stains my white bezel,
It must just be the black. Mine didn't rub off...my composition interior that is.
Unless they changed suppliers.
