I'm thinking about ordering the black Morocco, with the Interior Deep Purple but then I also like the Composition book but it is a lil more expensive which brings me back to the Notebook style..decisions, decisions

Why would you triple the thickness of an iPad 2?!

Here is my setup.

It's only 109% thicker than an iPad 2 anyway. Barely over twice as thick. A compromise, certainly, but better than say, those Marware cases where each cover is as thick as the iPad itself.

more than twice thicker, I don't mean to spoil it for the sellers who seem like nice people and their product looks fab, but double the thickness?

I'm sure Darin will weigh in but I'm pretty sure this is mainly so that when you fold it back there is an angle for typing. If I got a case like this but then couldn't put it at that slight angle that would make it a lot more difficult to use...

Because the Portenzo cases are beautifully made and hides the iPad well. Also, it offers some protection! ;)

Because i dont expect one case to do it all...ill run a apple cover with back for aroumd the house, and a potenzo for business meetings......i dont expect one change of clothes to do everything, its the same here....

Here is my setup.

Everyone's needs are different. For instance, I would never consider your setup ideal for my needs and wants. I just returned my Smart Cover (wasn't impressed) and prefer more protection for my iPad. While I love that the iPad is thin, it's not it's major selling point for me, so increasing the thickness x2 will likely not be bothersome for me. And, I love the look of the Portenzo cases and that they provide some disguise while in public.

Basically, I likely don't value the things that you value when choosing protection for my iPad. While I see the appeal of your setup, it doesn't seem practical or useful for where and how I will use my iPad. It probably works brilliantly for your particular needs and wants--just not mine.

Because the people that are "absolute" in what they like and cannot see others have different needs are frankly....idiots

More info...

Hi all,
About case dimensions,

There is a certain point of diminishing returns on getting too thin of a case. It does not prop up for any decent typing angle, and its not as easy to hold in one hand (like reading a magazine, for example) and you have to have a securing system that would likely obscure part of the face of the iPad. Also, some of the stealthiness goes down, because it would be unusually thin for a journal or book.

Even though the iPad is a slim sexy design, we are pretty happy with our overall size/configuration (smallest of its kind) and the enhancement it offers to the iPad.

That's so gorgeous but I think i'd miss the ability to use the open cover to prop it up in various spots. If it flexes like that it must reduce that particular bit of utility. I have mine propped in my lap often that way...

Although the Alano is flexible, it's not floppy. You can still prop it in the same ways that you can prop/use the standard case. The Alano for iPad 2 will not be available for at least a few weeks. We have to catch up on iPad 1 Alano orders before we can think about the iPad 2 Alanos (they are pretty time consuming).

Thanks again!

when looking at the cases available.. especially the "smart case" that apple came out with.. to me its more like a gimmick then a "case" because it offer minimal protection if any.. after the first fiew times clicking it on/off etc.. the novelty will wear off quickly and then you just have a cover that some state scratches your ipad and leaves more smudges on it then without it.. steve jobs stated it would 'clean' your ipad.. um ok.. i have read the reviews and comments of owners who returned them already and why.. makes my decision to not buy one launch day justified.. after looking for a REAL case.. i saw some that offered great protection but not in the looks department.. skins i dont really like.. some are cool.. others so so.. but thats not the route i wanted to go with.. then i saw these moleskin cases.. now that is cool.. saw all the other competitors products.. then started seeing the reviews and close up details of the handy work on the portenzo cases.. my decision was made.. it was the one both my wife and I wanted for our iPad 2s.. so the portenzo case is one that not only offer more protection but also gives the illusion to normal viewers as a moleskin book.. making the ipad invisible to most is a good thing. to each his/her own.. i chose the portenzo.. :) nobody is bashing your choice.. but its good to have different choices :)

AND, your Portenzo iPad 2 case will wake/sleep the iPad automagically, just like the 'Smart' cover.

Thanks,

Portenzo,
I was wondering if the case will accommodate an iPad that has a skin over it. I purchased a full body skin from BSE. I've applied the front skin, but am debating whether or not I should apply the skin to the back. I'm debating whether or not the tiny amount of extra thickness would result in the iPad not fitting in the case appropriately.

I am SO excited for this case!!!!! Hoping to see more pictures to get me through the next few days/week! :)

Thanks!

I had a Portenzo for my original iPad and it wasn't for me. The typing mode on this case did not work. The hinge was very weak and wouldn't hold in typing mode. When I first got the case is was barely strong enough to hold it in typing mode, but even then the angle was so slight you might as well lay it flat on the table. The hinge also started to wear badly after only a month of use and started to whiten. I understand they made the hinges stronger, but I'm not going to gamble $60 bucks again.
