Portenzo iPad 2 Case: Now a Smart Cover

I bought a smart cover (plastic one) just to be safe, a couple days ago, with my iPad(B&H FTW!arriving monday btw), but after researching the dodocase, that pad&quill, the smartcovers, many sleeves etc, I felt portenzo's product was the best deal as far as quality, durability, customer service/support(very involved, they regularly post here), and they stand by their products, which is a lot more than I can say for many other companies.

Therefore I'll probably return the smartcover....

Haha, I bought a SmartCover from Target last night knowing that I'll return it when I get my Portenzo next week. I just wanted to play with it and have some sort of protection while I wait. The SmartCover is decent, but I'm expecting the Portenzo to blow it out of the water! :D

Darin, can you post some more pics of the standard case now? I would think it's almost final since your shipping them in less than 48 hours :)

when looking at the cases available.. especially the "smart case" that apple came out with.. to me its more like a gimmick then a "case" because it offer minimal protection if any.. after the first fiew times clicking it on/off etc.. the novelty will wear off quickly and then you just have a cover that some state scratches your ipad and leaves more smudges on it then without it.. steve jobs stated it would 'clean' your ipad.. um ok.. i have read the reviews and comments of owners who returned them already and why.. makes my decision to not buy one launch day justified.. after looking for a REAL case..

I couldn't agree with you more. The Smart Cover is just that, a cover for the front. It provides zero drop protection and very little protection other than that. Its purely a cosmetic accessory.

I saw a couple of posts about utilizing the strap to have this case stand vertical to view the iPad 2 in landscape mode. Such as on an aircraft tray table. Any insight on how it performs in this mode? I can't seem to find any pics of it in this set up. I think this is a brilliant looking case and the fact that the owner is on here speaks volumes about the quality of service!

Our contoured frame & foam/rubber seal helps focus the sound to the user, while allowing a resonance chamber in the back of the case.

I'm sure a sound engineer will have plenty of "corrections" to this assertion, but we love the way it sounds. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it...

Thanks for all your input on this forum. All the work you and your team have put into this product in addition to your dedication to answering questions here (Something I have not seen ANY other company do to the level you are) have pushed me over the edge and I just ordered a Case with Black Morocco, Deep Purple interior, Magna Cover and No camera cutout.

Three questions for you.

1. Will Morocco cases ship out this week by chance?

2. Are the interior colors made from fabric or are they more of a paper like interior (not sure how to explain.. like the inside of a book I suppose)?

3. I paid with PayPal and looking at my order it looks to be closed without the option to edit it. If you offer dark wood before shipping will I somehow be able to contact you to change the order or will it unlock so I can edit it?

Thanks again, killer job you are doing both in the product and Customer Service arena. I'm looking forward to getting the case so I can shoot a video review on it and share with others. :)

The fewer holes the better in my opinion. In actuality, the only holes i'd want are the microphone, 30 pin port, speaker and headphone jack. I don't need the volume rocker/rotate hole either since the function is built into the dock.

I'd just like it to look as much like a journal as possible.

Is23.5 real leather? Will it come in black also? And what's the differences with alano?

At this point in the line, it's doubtful. We're past our inventory of Morocco and awaiting another shipment...

We use an industry standard interior 'book cloth' for books, binders and albums. Which is cotton cloth bathed and imbued in aqueous acrylic. This means it's got the strength/textural characteristics of cloth, and the durability/clean-ability of acrylic. It's good stuff; great combination of durability, texture and richness of color.

We ALSO use Italian cotton book cloth for Leather cases. It's a very rich pure cotton cloth, beautifully woven and gorgeous color variations in each piece. It's more expensive, and rather a pain to work with, but it's the only thing I would use with our leather/exotic cases.

All order holders will be emailed with a final opportunity to change their order before final processing.

The Alano is a completely different animal. The Alano is a single piece case. Currently sold out and not for sale. iPad 2 version later this month.

Love the color of the Wheat Italian Cloth for the white leather case. Wondering how close in color it is to the natural linen. That's the exact color I want for my notebook style case.

The interior Italian Cloth on the Twenty Three And A Half is darker than the Natural Linen on the standard case, and lighter than the Espresso... It's in between.

I am dying to order the notebook style in a boar skin or a black leather but there are still no details. As impatient as I am I may just have to go with the morocco and buy something else later so I dont get left too far back on the list!

Wish I knew the ETA for any of the leather specialty cases. I have a new iPad 2 that is in need of some protection. Decisions, decisions order the Black Levant now or wait for a case that I really want.
