I had a Portenzo for my original iPad and it wasn't for me. The typing mode on this case did not work. The hinge was very weak and wouldn't hold in typing mode. When I first got the case is was barely strong enough to hold it in typing mode, but even then the angle was so slight you might as well lay it flat on the table.
The original model was a 'Lay Flat' design. Most of our customers wanted it to fold flat (which it would do when it was broken in). Eventually, (several months ago) that was outnumbered by requests for a stiffer spine, so we changed it to the stiffer spine. Now we get requests for the Lay Flat... lol
The iPad 2 cases all have the 90 degree spine.
The very corners of the spine will whiten as it gets used. Usually in the first few days or so. This is the cover material breaking-in where it folds/bends the most, on the very corners of the spine. It will happen to all books/covers made with this type of f aux leather. The hinge also started to wear badly after only a month of use and started to whiten.
The spine/gutters (as in, the whole length of the spine) should not turn white except in cases of *extreme* use. We've never had a spine/gutter area turn white, you'd have to open/close it two or three thousand times a day for that to happen.
You should email me from the website and I'll take a look at it. We stand behind our product.
Technically speaking, we made them break at different angles. The relative strength of the material is inherent.I understand they made the hinges stronger,
but I'm not going to gamble $60 bucks again.
And you shouldn't have to. Email me from the website. If you have a defective case, we'll replace it.
Thanks again,
Darin and Team Portenzo
