Looks like a nice case. Two things I don't like about it are the color of the insert holding the iPad and not being able to position the case in any viewing position one wants. Seems to me if your going to pay 60 bucks for a case it should be more than just a folder. Not hard to do, but it is a major drawback for me.

Again and again, I say the Mophie case is the way to go, 10 husks cheaper and it does everything this one does and more.

That is why I prefer the C.E.O. Hybrid iPad 2 Case by Marware. It allows multiple positions plus it holds a pen. The strap is also nice for me.

I bit the bullet and ordered a Portenzo on 4/17. I figured, I had been watching this thread for weeks anyways... I could have had one by now if I ordered in the first place! Well, maybe not since there were some problems but it seems like they are back on track.

I have emailed back and forth with Darin and he has always replied the same day or the very next day. Extremely fast customer service, and I've been told my case will fall in the right time slot (3-4 weeks).

It seems like they are back on track, but obviously totally swamped with orders.

I got the notebook2 morocco black interior w/ camera hole. Can't wait and I hope the turn around is normal time now!

In Toronto too...when did you order?

Edit: Also did the tracking number go all the way? Mine's been stuck in HAZELWOOD for a couple days now...

I ordered exactly a month ago, on March 20th.

Took about 10 days to arrive. The tracking status did not change after it left the states (on the second day) until it arrived 8 days later.

Good luck with your wait. :)

That's like comparing apples to oranges. The Marware is hardly a "moleskine look & feel" type case.

I suspect most users are interested in the Portenzo (or Treegloo or the like) specifically because it looks like a moleskine.

If one wants a a nice-looking & functional case, there are plenty of other options (like the Marware you mentioned) that can be found in stock in many places for immediate shipment.

I'd really like to know the dynamics of this company. How many employees do they have? The customer service of Portenzo is absolutely horrible and I'm surprised that they haven't hired some extra help to go through emails.

My situation:
Ordered March 14th and waited patiently and did not make any changes to my original order. April 11th comes along and I get an email saying that my order has shipped (hooray!). I noticed that there was no tracking information on my "shipping" email or on my account page. At first, I thought it was a fluke and that I'd wait and see if I got the case a couple of days later. No delivery...so I asked here on April 14th if people's shipping emails included a tracking number (back on page 70). I fired off an email asking about that. The email was answered and they found that they didn't have any tracking information on their end either. By Friday, they said they would get it shipped out that day and if they didn't send them an email on Monday. Well, the emails that I sent on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (also Thursday but I won't count that since it was sent 15 minutes ago) have all gone unanswered.

As of today, Thursday April 21st, It has been a month and a week since I placed my order and it has been 10 days (8 business days) since my credit card was charged and I've got nothing to show for it but growing frustration. Despite this, I can't bring myself to cancel my order because I really like this style of case and I don't care for the look and/or quality of their competitors.

Anyway, just posted this to vent. I'll now move along with my day without thinking about this until tomorrow when I realize that I haven't heard from them yet again. If I do actually hear from them, then that will just be a pleasant surprise.

Think I'm ordering a Dodo...just haven't heard a response back to get details on Ordering a Custom (potentially Stingray).

To me it sounds like they are getting back on track, but unfortunately for people who ordered or had email issues with Portenzo during that window of time they got zerg-rushed it seems they got lost in the mix and it's hard for Portenzo to go back and play catch up while still dealing with orders coming in daily.

Like others have said, I'd be curious to know how big the company is. Regardless of however big it is right now (assuming quite small), it needs to be even bigger.

Even if this company is solely run by Darin and Liz, it seems like even if they hired one more person to do nothing but answer emails (maybe even with some semi-auto replies depending on the subject matter?) then the cases could get made a lot quicker without having to split their efforts.

Then again, they might not have time to train a new employee! Ah well, it is what it is.

I'm in the same boat.

My order is literally identical to yours, no changes, no upgrade, ordered on the same day and our order #'s are only a few spots apart.

I'll be sure to let you know if I get an update.

Ordered on 3/24 (paid with debit card), and changed from Morocco to Levant on 3/27. Got a change acknowledgement on 4/4. Have been monitoring my checking account, and finally was charged today. Portenzo account page still lists order as processing. Have read on this forum thread that companies only have 29 day window to submit debit/credit card charges, so that is one reason some are charged well before a product may ship. Think (hope) this means I'm still in their system and haven't fallen through the cracks. Trying to remain positive....

WOW! I registered just to post in this forum. Same story as everyone else who's waiting. I would love to give these guys the benefit of the doubt, but d@mn!!! Ordered on 3/15, morocco with magnets and stylus holder. No changes. Waited patiently before sending emails asking where they were with things. I have now sent three. Two of which received a canned answer about when things will ship and one that said within the next week. That was last week. In fairness, the week isn't over, however, I'm seeing notes on Facebook AND here about people ordering in April and receiving their cases and I can't help but get ticked.

I want to love this product. I want to actually GET this product, but seriously.....this is no way to make a name for your biz. No one should have to troll other sites to see what's going on with something they've purchased elsewhere. I will hold firm and wait, but must confess I'll look elsewhere next time around.

The FedEx tracking info indicates that items are dropped off at a FedEx Kinkos. For a company that is shipping out a high volume of products, in boxes the size of these, that seems odd to me, and indicates this is a business being run out of a home or very small office. FedEx will do business account shipping and will come and pick orders up each day. I may be wrong, but especially in the volume ordering and manufacturing process like this, it seems unusual to me.

I asked about a stingray too. Darin said they aren't doing them right now, but are considering doing some exotics for the new seventy six that's coming out. And it'll be $300.

I agree. I ordered around that time and expected to be in the "ship before 4/25" group. I had been getting reasonably prompt email replies, but in the last few days I get nothing.

I think they're going into head-in-the-sand mode again and pretending that everything is ok, just as they did a few weeks ago. The positive reviews of the product are the only thing keeping customers hanging on, but I just can't understand how the business is run. It seems a real shame that they have such a great product and are generating such negative feeling just because of their customer service.

I would really like some communication.

I don't see that as odd. It seems to be a small firm with maybe 4 employees max.

I too have simply lost my patience just to echo the other sentiments. I know they have until the 25th, but no response to my last inquiry I simply asked darin where my order stood, or if I could get a rough idea of where it is in line etc. Nothing yet. It's just old now.

I'd hang on for the 4/25 date, difficult as it may. My 3/16 Levant order, upgraded to Comp II on 4/6, was at the 2 week point yesterday (for the posted "usually ships within 1-2 weeks"). I had held off on inquiring on my order to give them the full benefit of the 2 week period up to then and only then respectfully requested any kind of update... the response I got was to receive a "your order has shipped" notice.

So I'd see how they do to your commit date. It could be that at this point, they'd rather respond with only good news. Or maybe it's too tough (or bad PR) to give an estimate now that they might have to slip on for whatever reason, and only when it actually gets out the door is what anyone can actually count on.

portenzo customer service

Just ordered mine about 4-5 days ago, maybe thats why i have the luxury of telling everyone to "just be patient", but i know how difficult it can be waiting for something you really want and it keeps getting delayed. I'm travelling for 4 weeks so it all works out fine for me:)

regarding customer service though, i gotta say with the one communication i've had the yseem to be doing ok. I sent an email, got a reply within 24-36 hours. On top of that ,i had actually mixed up 2 digits of my order # and they still managed to look up my proper order number. apologize for the couple of cases that got delayed due to my mixup.

As for the size of the company and hiring some people, maybe even one, i don't think that would be sustainable for them. I ordered the basic morocco with magents, strap, etching, and total came to about 90$. the thing is, that cmpletely blows my mind that something custom could be that cheap. I think hiring another person would certainly throw off their income from company. Think about it, apple cases are mass produced with coupel of dollars of material and they sitll cost 50-70$. I ordered a case a couple of days ago, a switcheasy canvas, and it cost 60$. when i got it i aws dismayed at how cheap it felt, it was covered in canvas, cheap plastic, and i'd assess the total material cost to be a couple of bucks. they shipped it from china and that aws the most expensive part of the costs i think, i got it within 2 days fedex!

so when i analyze that case, for $60, factory mass produced, and this case, hand made, and the labour cost going into it and materials, i think it probably jsut isn't sustainable for them to hire anybody else. Thats why i'll cut them some slack and not bother them for a 4-6 weeks, and hope like hell i don't have to eat my words.

edit: actually just did some quick mental math, i was order # nine thousand something. thats approx 10k they've sold so far. at an avg of $80 per case, thats $800k so far!!! plus their original ipad 1 case earnings. so on second thought, yeah, maybe they could squeeze out the money to hire another worker.

I'm not too worried about other orders going out before mine since they all seem to be anything but the back-ordered Morocco's that people are receiving.

This does however raise concerns as far as wheather or not Portenzo ever did receive the material for the Morocco's they were waiting for. I've yet to see or hear of any Morroco orders or even notifications go out since the initial batch way back when. It's hard to believe they have a pile of Morocco orders completed and sitting around just waiting to be shipped because they're waiting to ship them all at once.

I guess they do have till the 25th and with the 2-4 days they seem to be taking after they email notifications, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't hear of any going out for at least another week.
