The board demanded innovation. While a larger phone isnt innovation, Apple are now giving the public what they want. Gone are the dark days when Apple knew what you want, not you yourself. That applied in the early modern smartphone days, i.e. first iPhone, but not for years.

Extensability, Continuity, Handoff, Homekit, Healthkit, these are innovative. While the latter two are not new, you will find Apple's implementation will be perfect, you do not need to know of the many many incompatible protocols.

As for the 5.5, if YOU find it too big for YOUR use case, get the 4.7 or a 4" 5S. The word smartphone is obsolete for many of us, who use the phone app rarely. Finally, a choice!!!

No, you don't get it. I don't really care what are they going to do. I mean, there will certainly be a 4,7 iphone, right? Fine for me. They can make a 7 inch iPhone for all i care. I will find what i need and i will buy it. That's about it. I'm not a fanboy, although i own many apple products, so i guess my life is easier. No stress, especially over a phone (granted, a mini computer)

Seems funny that Apple haven't even released anything yet, and people are already basing opinions on thin air..

Yeah, because we NEVER knew what they were GOING to release before the ACTUAL keynote.... right?....... RIGHT?

I do get it. You dont seem to understand my comment, I am merely telling you why we have a 4.7 and 5.5 this year. (And the iWatch, named the iWatch) And that you get what suits as for some its the 4.7 for others its the 5.5, or the 4. Which is essentially what you said, so i dont see the reaposn for your post.

it's just seemed strange how apple defended so much and for so long small screen and then went from 4 to 5,5 which is huge. i mean, 3,5>4 was kinda "well, ok, it's pretty much the same". anyway, 5,5 would be cool for gps as i use google maps A LOT and watching some NBA games when not home would be sweet on 5,5. But i tried holding and using one of those phablets and well, it's not for me. But hey.

IMO SJ to your first point. He passed, did a wonderful job, but when smartphones matured, he stayed stuick in his world, not the real world. Apple had to do something and the tall skinny iPhone 5 was an easy change, and it more or less delayed the "WTF still 3.5" a bit. Now they will catch up to the rest of the world in a few days. iOS8/Yosemite will continue to push beyond Android and Windows, so future looks good.

I must have a play with a phablet at work, but if I get an iPhone 6, I will have to wait for the 5.5 to compare. (I dont really wnat an iPhone 6, tired of incremental updates)

I'm currently on 4S so i NEED iPhone 6. I wouldn't call it incremental though. I'll take 4,7 ones, i believe under 5 inch is the perfect size. I must admit, 3,5 felt small for a long, long time. Even before the iphone 5 was announced.

Till now, its been faster CPU, camera improvement. Thinner, Thats incremental. I saw retina as good, Siri as a gimmick. This year it will be the same, and although going from 4 to 4.7 and 5.5 is not incremental its how many years behind the times???

I had a play with a mates Note 5.7 today, I expected a clunky goliath. But its absolutely fine. One handed I cannot reach the top right triangular area, but I dont see that as an issue, i will locate my front homescreen apps where I can reach them. I will be two handed at times but I will be one handed mostly. Admittedly his has small top and bottom bezels, maybe half what Apples may be. So, I will get a 5.5, or nothing and wait till next year. Im a bit tired of rebuying the same phone every year thats how it feels. Same applies to otheres as well its not an Apple thing, phones have matured

hope apple bring this out next week...actually want to have a decision on note 4 or iphone 5'5

there is no comp between the 4.7 verison and the note 4.
