Would you place a wager on that?

Tell you what. If Apple announce this exact phone, will you come back on this forum and say..."Okay, I was wrong"?

C.

Lol, I bet he wont. IMHO this is not gonna be a real iPhone. And if yes, I'm quite sure it wont get so high saleability like current 3GS since the design is awful. Blah.

I'd think Apple is aiming for a 7 hour talktime and 700 hours 3G standby. Battery life seems to be a huge priority looking at the MacBook Pro. These figures would bring the iPhone right to the top.

It's doable with a new 65nm baseband and a 600-800MHz single memory channel 45nm A4 processor. The baseband is due for renewal (the 3GS uses the same one as the 3G). Plus microSIM gives much more room inside.

To be an A+ upgrade they have to address battery life too.

You are kidding right? This is a thing of beauty!

3GS = MacBook
G4 = MacBook Pro.

It really doesnt look like it's designed by Apple, I still see there some cheap crap, the volume buttons etc.

Anyway I would rather say

3GS = MacBook Pro (Which is capable for almost everything)
4G = MacPro (Which is for those who really need power horses under the hood)
Actually I'm not convinced the current 3GS will need to make some improvements, what are you guys missing on this device? Yeah, maybe the CPU and ram + battery could be upgraded so you "feel" better and have something more powerful then 3GS...

Have you ever see the battery button on a MacBook Pro?

Sure I did, I've got a macbook pro, as well but the new design looks like the current touch phones ( LG, Samsung...)I just dont belive this could be a real iPhone.

Well, Apple does that when it makes sense and is of importance to them. I don't think Apple has any stake into making micro SIM a standard./QUOTE]

MicroSIMs can be cut down easily with scissors or a simple tool.

3FF SIM ("MicroSIM") cards have been part of the official standard but haven't been used until now.

Decoy because it was found on the Floor

Hi. Those photos more sense as a decoy because Engadget says it was found on a the floor. It's not real. I feel (or wish) the 4G would have two multi-touch LCD like the DS so your hands wouldn't block the screen. It could work either way. But I feel more strongly that the screen will be flexible. It'll be a new design, new designs for the Mac Pro would also come out. The OS 4 will be launched earlier because iPhone people need that upgrade (the last update made the iPhone sluggish especially with the slider lock). Gbu.

I would be shocked if this turned out to be the real iPhone 4G - it could definitely be a prototype but it is too far out to be a final Apple product. I just don't see it.

Nope

Too ugly and clunky to be the real deal. I'm willing to bet that it will look just like a small iPad. Slick form-factor, no breaks in the seams, and a better battery.

Screw Holes missing in other photos?

Has anyone noticed that the photo of just the back (close up) of this phone has screw holes on the bottom, between the speaker and dock connector and mic and dock connector!!

The other photos of the phone practically the shot of the bottom does not have these screw holes?

Is this not strange!!...

Also the shots of the insides of this phone are not the same Surface Mount Technology as Apples?

you're all wrong: pages 1-2 :D

WARBRAIN:
Simple answer: no.
Buttons are entirely un-Apple, there are seams...
If this is it then I'm getting a 3GS instead. This thing is hideous.

TRUNKSGOKU
looks like an ugly sony ericsson phone. The design is VERY un apple like, down to the seams and the buttons
going to go on a limb and say. no.

mobilehaathi
Unlikely.

warbrain
What wouldn't surprise me is if this is a prototype build with the new internals and a really hideous body.
But even that is pushing it. This looks like a fake. Tear it open. The first thing I would do if I found it is take pictures of it while it was on and working and then, if Apple didn't come after me, tear it apart.

warbrain:
Doubt it. It's probably not real.

warbrain:
This is exactly it. It looks like a Chinese fake.

rtabdo:
I don't think it's it purely because the volume buttons. Very unapple like.

gator24765
fake

mjmar
That thing is so ugly. Apple wouldn't come out with a phone that looked like a block.

lionheartednyhc:
Plus it looks terrible.
I call fake.

Dropped the Ball

Well, we can only hope this is not the real iPhone 4th Generation. If so, Apple has dropped the ball again. Reports are that the high resolution screen is actually smaller than the 3Gs screen. What happened to the Samsung Super AMOLED 4" screen? This would be a MAJOR disappointment.

They've gotta make room for the 3,2 iPhone (4") and the iPad Nano (6" screen).

I'm only half joking but you likely not be moaning when they release all this stuff.

As these are prototype devices and are hand built, it's possible that the cases are just temporary working models. This could account for the seams (unless they point to the possibility of a user replaceable battery which again goes against current Apple design philosophy). However, as far as the overall design is concerned, I believe that this is pretty much what iPhone 4 will look like. If you look at the iPad, it shares a very similar aesthetic. Both have squared, aluminum edges with cutout speaker slots. They also share the same speaker grilles. The big difference is the glass/ceramic/whatever back which is there to facilitate radio transmissions (could the new phone also have a FM radio built in?). Like many, my initial reaction was that this device looked rather ugly compared to the sleek curves of the 3GS, but I have to admit that after comparing it to my iPad, the design has sort of grown on me.

Well, if it's supposed to be a final product, somebody had better put ole Mr. Jobs in a home quick, cuz it's **** to the max.

The only time I've been this disappointed in Apple is when they released the iPad.

Time for your meds, Steve.
