Wait, what? Jailbreaking has nothing to do with the type of SIM card used.

Not two sentences between that and...

People like me using MyWi on a jailbroken iphone 3G thought we could simply switch SIM cards back and forth from the iPhone HD to the old jailbroken iPhone when tethering was needed.

Evidently this won't work since the sim won't be interchangeable.

Why am I not surprised none of these images show the OS UI? Just looking at the home screen would probably tell us whether this phone is genuine :apple: or not.
Take that blurry camera and face it at the homescreen while it's on, then you might convince me.

Poor nations force tears from my eyes...not because they can't afford to live, eat or see a doctor, but because of their knock-offs!

Honestly, we should cease export of trademarked and patented goods to nations that don't honor such regulations.

Bastards.

I really hope that that's not the new iPhone. It doesn't look bad per se, but it's definitely not up to apples high standards of design IMO

First post.

Forgive me if this has already been mentioned....

On the bottom right image:

a, The Apple logo is, well, not an Apple logo?
b, Instead of the usual iPhone text it appears to read 'Prototype'.

I believe this is the next gen iPhone, lets just hope it IS a protoype and will be put on a diet before its released.

too boxy

this thing looks way too boxy to be made by apple. it's probably a fake. but it may be real. who knows?

You should complain to Uncle Helen as shes in charge of developing 3rd world nations.

Exactly.

If they have the actual device, why are the photos blurry?

They know enough to photograph it but know nobody with a good camera / photography skills?

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but other than the logo and text, The 1st set of photos, and the photo that shows the back shell that reads 'iPhone' have differences. The photo that shows the 'iPhone' shell shows two small holes next to the speakers, like the 3G and 3GS, and the other set only shows the speakers, no holes.

You're Correct. Apple probably put a different logo so people couldn't identify it as Apple made. And Apple does have a tendency to have 'Prototype' written on their prototype devices. Like this picture of the Wireless Mighty Mouse, that was submitted to the FCC...

There is absolutely no possible way this is 4. Apple would not allow such a weak piece of industrial design sport their elite marquee. Jesus ****ing christ, it is understood to be stored predominantly in pocket, that's why its smooth, weathered shape has been become more so through the two generations. That thing looks like it was born by Zenith. Jesus ****ing christ.

How could Macrumors.com, my favoritest website ever, publish 3 sequential main page articles about this obviously fictitious farce on my lazy Sunday? Oh wait… Hold on… Pretty clear here; because they are a tool of Apple inc, ya know, by giving Mr. Kim "candy." Propagating this silliness is in big fruits best interest, as the real one might better melt panties in comparison with this product design student at community college, hungover deadline throw-together. The eyelet ringing the headphone jack is an obvious Apple no-do. It's not a cassette WalkMan, right? Jesu…

Basic homo-sapien logic deduces as far as much that the new item will have a button on the side that shortcuts immediately to camera, or other assignable app of user choosing. Holding button will call up "photos." Everybody knows that - even elderly, possibly out of touch, technology columnists for a prominent southern Manhattan publication.

Have a good day.

MicroSIM gives much more room inside. The current sim card tray on the logic board is the largest component by far. The mechanism to allow for its ejection is even bigger. Making a change like this opens a world of possibilities on a very space constrained device.

Think longer battery life, more cameras, room for NFC support in the future.

I wonder how much thinner this design is and if it is longer? Someone could scale up an existing iPhone 3GS and compare the size to this on by matching up the dock connector or headphone jack as these are known sizes.

The design of this device really sucks, its some pretty cheap fake Chinese try, as always. Apple would never come out with something horrible like this - take a look on screenshots from inside the device. Its horribly composed - compared to current iPhones. And if its realy (I really dont think so) then I guess this will be the worst looking device they've ever created. (Since '80)
