This is technically the first real leak we have and it proves to us we know nothing as of yet. Heck, we don't even know how many phones is going to be released or what it's going to be called.

Good enough for most of us :D

Where does it say anything about Ion-X being the display? This looks like a glass back to me.

I think they're connecting the dots. It doesn't say display anywhere on the sheet, indicating a chance it could be the back glass, but Apple wouldn't do that. The S8 only has strengthened glass on the front (display), and normal on the back. If samsung wouldn't do it, Apple definitely wouldn't.

Here is a wild idea, what if this is iphone 8 and the 5.8" device is iphone 8+? Imagine an iPhone SE with edge to edge display.

Sorry, but i don' t think so.
Perhaps in the next 2 years, but not now.
You also have to calculate that total screen size is not all. There is also width and lengtg of the screen.Let me explain:
I currently have a 5.5 inch 7 plus , and the iphone 8 will have a 5.8 inch screen, but the iphone 8 screen will have less width than my 7 plus, it will just have more length, and that is really a shame. I rather have a 6.3 inch screened iphone that wilk have the same widt but is longer than my 7+.
In the future , when there is better oled supply apple will release an 8+ with a +/- 6.3 oled screen.

happy they are updating the SE line for those who love it. That apple logo on the back looks pretty sketchy though. It doesn't look centered.

If Apple were to release an iPhone SE 2 with less bezels in an iPhone 4 form factor... that would be a dream for many. Even more pocketable but with the 4 inch display while keeping the same dimensions of the 4. Along with the 7S and the redesigned 8... seems like a perfect line up to me.

This looks convincing, but I'm not sure about the placement of the Apple logo. Even taking perspective into account it looks a bit off. Perhaps it is just the distortion of the cutout in the glass. If it's real it's the right size for a SE.

Sorry,

I know what you want, and i would like that too, but smaller iphones are a real niche in the current world/asian market, in contrary to what a few people would like to think in these forums. It really won' t happen.
If apple will release a new iphone, it will only be bigger screened than the current iphone se.

Another interesting thing is that three different parts appear to be specified on the manifest, with two versions of each: A1.01, A1.02, etc. Colors? Sizes? Who knows.

Just a quick and dirty calculation using the size of the flash. On the image the phone is about 30 times as long as the diameter of the flash. The flash on my phone is about 4mm in diameter, so using that ratio the height of the back in the picture would be about 120 mm tall (or 4.72 inches). This is much closer to the SE height of 4.87 inches than the iPhone 7 height of 5.44 inches.

This looks more like an SE2 back than a 7 back, but it certainly could foretell the overall design of the "lower tier" iPhone 7S. I do have my doubts Apple would release a substantially redesigned 7S in addition to the 8 though.

I hope if Appple does make a successor to SE that they don't make it purposely inferior to bigger screens phones and they just release it all at the same time .

I don't want to hear excuses to why smaller phones can't have 3D Touch , faster Touch ID, years old cameras and processors .

I love my + size phone and whenever I upgrade beyond my 6S+ I won't go back to smaller size model but I really don't see why Apple makes smaller size phones be the black sheep of the iPhone lineup .

3 sizes , same specs , same camera , same features , same storage capacity and screen size is only difference . It makes it simpler for consumers to have it all standardized

Apple is smart if they indeed are going back to the glass sandwich design of the 4(s) version. It was really such as ground breaking design and my favorite (having owned all versions so far). The advancements that Corning has made with the strength of their glass panels and Apple's understanding of antenna issues should make it a fantastic upgrade and hopefully something they keep around for the foreseeable future.

Don't think its the iPhone SE, why would apple give it a glass back? the wireless charging feature might most likely be for iPhone 7s-plus-8, not for the budget iPhone which will make it more expensive. IPhone 7s is most likely.

Apple vowed to double down on security, but how do your actually do that when all your production is with a separate company in a country half way around the world? I know it would be costly, but could Foxconn open a pilot line in the US, close to Apple to get the manufacturing sorted out. They could then do a rapid transfer of the process to China for the volume manufacturing. I know this would be crazy expensive and might not slow down the leaks that much.

on the paper underneath the glass backs
Yeah, I see that it says Ion-X, but where does it say anything about the display. This part is clearly the back of the phone. The paper lists the part as 电池壳. 电池 translates to battery and 壳 translates to shell/case/hard surface according to Google. Sounds like the battery cover to me.

No, just the ones that have wireless charging to have the glass backs make sense.
And i don' t think the se will have wireless charging. If this leak is real, it must be the 7s.
I really hope that we get more than a 7s release this fall.
All this talk of the 8 has gotten my hopes up.

Not sure how.... but if I hold my iphone 5s up to the screen it is the exact same size. haha :D

I was on an SE for awhile but upgraded to the 7+, I think I actually prefer the SE

personal speculation: this will be SE successor, it will be announced in June and dubbed the iPhone AE for anniversary edition
