Ugh please no... So... UnApple  Please don't. I dont want a lower cost iPhone... I know other people want them... But Apple doesn't have to be Samsung. These colours are atrocious... I wouldn't have minded a back like the iPod Touches... But this? No :(

cool colors - kind off:D

so what year are we gonna expect these or its just another stuff only foxconn and executives of apple get to only see:eek:

I understand the color scheme with the iOS 7's redesign but the bezel at the bottom looks like it is notched for the space of a 30-pin connector instead of lightning.

I think its very arrogant by using the name "Lower-end" to describe the non-premium iphone that is going to be introduced in the near future. Its like the customers who purchase the non Lower-end iphone is privileged or rich or something like that. It doesnt roll with me and think its very childish. Thanks.

Are you serious?

Is Mercedes class A childish when compared to class S?

it makes sense
I think apple will start to phase out iPods and add more to the phone range
who wants the classic iPod now?

The iPod range still does a lot of good for Apple. The iPodTouch is great for kids who's parents don't want them to have a phone. No to mention it's also a gateway into the iOS ecosystem and sell more iPhones and iPads down the track.

iPodNano's and iPodShuffle's are good secondary devices when you don't want to take your phone.
And the iPodClassic can hold large music libraries without iTunes Match and a data connection. Plus they keep people in the iTunes Store, or at least in iTunes for importing and ripping music.

The iPods are here to stay.

I was unsure if you were writing that sarcastically or whether you really are that uninformed (to put it mildly). Those normally come with a 24 month contract - hence over the life of the contract that's 21 GBP/mo*24mo = 504 GBP.

Hardly 'free'.

FWIW though the backs in the original post look really low quality.

I guess that is printed on together with the serial number?

Or maybe no need for FCC sticker if not marketed in an area where FCC has any juristiction, e.g. China.

Well, if it costs 21 quid a month and includes tons of mins and data, yep, it's free for me. You are the one who has issues to understand it. Or perhaps you live in America, so receive the worst offer in the market. In the UK we are years ahead

...

I don't really care how it looks its just a phone and 95% of people cover them with a case anyway. I would take cheaper any day just buy a black case lol

Assuming functionality is the same.

Plastic case versions will eventually destroy the higher end version. Who wouldn't want to save some money on these clearly well overpriced phones.

So I suspect there will be functional differences between the cheap version and standard version other than just the case.

Don't like the colors?! Cover it with a case. Problem solved. You now have a more affordable iPhone that looks how you want it to, and it's protected!

The green one looks cool.
But i'm not gonna buy it, i'm not interested in the lower cost phone, i'm gonna buy the expensive one.

Different strokes different folks, not everyone who owns or wants an iphone uses its capabilities to the most, and this is evident with the fact that iphone 4 is still alive. Does it run the most demaning apps? No, is it a great phone? Yes. My friends dad who never owned a smartphone just got the 4 and he loves it. His next iphone will probably be the 6, but for now he is blown away by the 4

This model has worked great for 20+ year in pc industry, especially windows pc - they range from $300 to $5,000, why do you think it will fail on smartphones?

We'll see what he thinks in 14-16 months. Id be surprised if it holds a charge for more than 4 hours and is still compatible with any apps on the App Store.

I don't think the model will 'fail' for smartphones. They'll sell like hotcakes. Then in 18 months when they're already too slow to do anything people will say "looking back, this phone sucked. I guess apple doesn't make quality stuff. Might as well buy a _____ this time around"

Plan one: ditch any atempt to make an S4 or HTC One competitor
Plan two: make OS look similar to Android and Windows
Plan three: make cheap Nokia looking phones
Plan four: leak pictures
Plan five: get sheep excited
!

You forgot Plan Six: demonstrate to the world that you're probably still in your teens by tirelessly trolling Apple forums to remind readers that you hate the iPhone.

Plan seven (applicable if you are actually no longer a teen ager): realize that everyone already knows I hate the iPhone so I can stop relentlessly posting it and get a life.

They could have a Zune brown-colored iPhone for all I care, I just won't buy it. I have no problem in others being offered more choices.

Perceived quality. When top end Android phones and iPhones go head to head, they're not as night and day different as many on this forum would like to think

Except when you turn 'em on, use 'em, merely look at 'em, etc.

And the low cost iPhone is an indication that smartphones are becoming commodotized. With so little differentiating features available between brands,

Says you. Seems like huge differentiating features. I seem to remember buying Macs over some other brand to run software more reliably, better selection of useful apps... Seems to have worked out for them there, plenty of difference. They still sell Macs, by the way, and make a nice profit on them.

PSSSTTTT... there has been a low cost iPhone for a few years now. Apple has been killing with that one too.

Apple realizes that they will have no choice but to start competing on price.

Why? Apple is not already winning that battle and gobbling almost all the industry profit? You're pretty savvy to be giving them such sage market advice. I'm sure after launching both the iPhone 4s and iPhone 5, Tim Cook would appreciate your wisdom, and will take your call directly. You might be on hold for a while, as he tries to find his phone under Apple's MASSIVE FAT STACKS OF PROFIT CASH.

iOS7 adds a bit of spit and polish, but little more. Those irrational buyers that Apple had in the palm of their hand may start to think twice.

So they've refined the leading software platform, that's not a problem to be cursed with. Thats like saying Ferrari can only made the new ones go a little faster. Where do you get this stuff? Besides... trivialize much?
