Yawn! I'm 45 and writing this on an iPad, I own 2 iMacs and I've owned every generation of iPhone to-date (before moving to Samsung and realising life doesn't begin and end with Apple like so many people think) I just hate isheep (as we call them) and people who don't like/appreciate other peoples opinion like your good self. Why don't you get a life instead of trolling MY comments that I'm entitled to leave; just because you don't like them, doesn't mean I'm wrong; just shows you to be one of the people Im talking about. So, how about YOU get a life ... you're boring me now! (although I'm sure you'll spend another 5 minutes of your boring life replying to someone that really doesn't give a damn) :)

For every one else, when Apple bring out a decent phone I'll look to buy one again; until then, I'll happily point out their flaws (just as apple owners like to do to Android owners) and laugh at immature people ... You know, the 'my phones better than your phone' crowd ... How immature!

Sorry, your constant insistence that the rest of us agree that our phones suck lead me to believe you were still a child. Again, I apologize for being wrong; however I can't imagine I'm the only person having made that mistake. If we all agree that we're pathetic iSheep will that make you happy? By spamming your 'iPhones suck and so do you for using them' message' what are you hoping to accomplish? By all means, please keep telling us that you hate the iPhone...I can't imagine a day without some troll reminding us that we're all pathetic for owning one. Definitely not childish, I don't know what I was thinking.

Plastic is more fragile than metal.

Sorry, I've been informed by the Plastics Industry Council that the statement I made above is not true. Plastic is stronger than metal.

Well, I'm pretty sure they are using polycarbonate polymer. There are a lot of varieties of "plastic". so one has to look at the characteristics of the specific type of plastic being used and compare to the specific type of "metal" that you are referring to. Aluminum, even 6061 grade, is considered a "soft" metal. 6061 grade aluminum is more like a hard metal, but it is on the "soft" side. Every type of metal alloy has specific characteristics. some when someone says "stronger" or "fragile", what do you mean, specifically? Some metals are very susceptible to being scratched, cracking, melting, bending, etc., some are not.

The average person does not know too much about metallurgy, or characteristics and properties of various plastics.

We'll see what he thinks in 14-16 months. Id be surprised if it holds a charge for more than 4 hours and is still compatible with any apps on the App Store.

I don't think the model will 'fail' for smartphones. They'll sell like hotcakes. Then in 18 months when they're already too slow to do anything people will say "looking back, this phone sucked. I guess apple doesn't make quality stuff. Might as well buy a _____ this time around"

No one said low tier, it's mid tier.

Back pocket is way more convenient for some. Especially if you wear a reasonably trendy pair of jeans

You mean the jeans that show your religion?

Well Steve Jobs always said, "we don't sell junk"... I hope Cook bears this in mind very readily... these phones seems to be skirting that line, these cases. Guess we'll see.

I could be doing that on Android Authority forums to the immature people there, but I'm not. Guess why.

Looks reminiscent of a Nokia Feature phone from years gone by.

I knew the moment these appeared the plastic haters that frequented the forum to bash Samsung's "plasticky phones" would suddenly flip their attitudes around to align with Apples adoption of this sturdy reliable material.

It's as predictable as Apple themselves.

There's plastic phone, and there's "plasticky phones". Apple themselves used plastic for iPhone 3G and 3GS and that never felt as cheap as top end Samsung phones. Nokia used plenty of plastic for their upper tier and they all felt nice. The criticism was specifically on Samsung using the cheapest feeling plastic on their flagship devices and that's not just from Apple users but also non-Apple users as well as a plenty of review sites.

...wow.

Those colours would look much better in matte. If it's going to be glossy like that it better be just black, white, and grey.

I'm more interested in my user experience than its specifications or its form factors. I still do care about the specifications, but in the form of threshold not as top tier.

The iPhone 4S and 4 are the only products that still use the 30pin connectors. The 4 will be phased out, leaving only the 4S using the 30pin. I think it's not unrealistic for apple to phase out the 4S at the same time to forego the 30pin altogether and be able to cut down the manufacturing costs that comes with the 4S.

If Apple decides to continue the tradition of having 3 models for the iPhone lineup and phase out the 4S for this plastic iPhone, I may purchase one. It is also possible for apple to drop the 5 for 5S and keep only 2 models. Either way, as long as the plastic iPhone doesn't have worse spec than the 4S and its price consistent with the previous years, I will probably buy it.

However, I have doubts that apple will keep the specs. I think it may come with 5MP camera and even forego the retina, then drop the price a tiny bit to justify. In which case, I will probably buy the old Nexus 4 or something similar. I have a feeling I will be using an android next year, but I'll keep my iPad mini.

The new Windows Phone rocks!!!.... ops wrong forum

never mind...

What Lumia is this btw?

Not Likely!

The color thoughts are nice and all, but doubt Apple will do this with iPhone. Doesn't look like their style.

I've owned every single phone you've mentioned as well as "Plasticky" phones and I can assure you the Galaxy S4 is not in that category.

First there are those who equate the thickness of plastic to its quality. That data point is completely wrong & irrelevant. Citing the fact that the battery door of the S4 can be bent as a sign of cheap quality only reveals the lack of knowledge on the part of the poster.

Plasticky phones are those like some early BlackBerrys that would make creaking noises when simply being held during usage. Ill fitting panels etc. now that is the hallmark of a less than high quality plastic material.

Conversely the high quality creak free material used for Samsungs S4 is an excellent example of the usefulness of plastic. The fit and Finnish of my S4 is every bit as good as the iPhone 3 GS I had.

Not only that, the Pro-Apple review sites that criticized the plastic construction of the S4, failed to note its a higher quality plastic with an all new Finnish as compared to the S3. I know, I've got both. Only one review site, gsmarena.com, acknowledged this improvement.

Finally just because its the personal opinion of many individuals biased against plastic that its an unworthy material is completely irrelevant. It's no longer 1960. Those who view plastic with a jaundiced eye are extremely narrow minded and out of touch.

It's as simple as that.

You can tell it's going to be junk just from that photo?

Yes it is in that category. Samsung does a great fit and finish, which I completely agree with. However that doesn't make them any less plasticky. Samsung's high end phones feel tacky and cheap even compared to other plastic phones. You don't really have to assure me. I've used tried them all and have been using and owning many of the Android phones myself.

Not only that, the Pro-Apple review sites that criticized the plastic construction of the S4, failed to note its a higher quality plastic.

Even non Apple-site reviews noted Galaxy S4 felt cheap and tacky, especially in comparison to the competing HTC One with its premium finish. It didn't feel all that different from that of the S3 in hand.

Although I wouldn't own one, the green isn't that bad. I don't like the red though. In the pic it appears very pink. Maybe that's just the photo though.

If the red was a nice deep cranberry red, then id be interested more :)
