I agree! I have no legit reason to ask for a free case and with 4 million preorders in 24 hours I can understand difficulty ordering, I think it went relatively well considering! I also hate when people take advantage of things like this because it will ruin it for future and they won't be able to compensate you in the future when it's really deserved! Granted some of you have legit reasons but some are just fishing for free stuff and trying to justify it.

As much as I would like to say that I'm shocked by this behavior, these days the amount of people with this type of "I'm entitled to it because I stayed up late" type of attitude is no longer shocking.

I run a small company and sent someone the wrong order by mistake (another customers order). She got 4 bottles of sauce. (one of which she was the same flavor of one she ordered, the other three were different flavors). I emailed her before it happened and told her I will send out the other bottle she did not get and she can keep the rest. She complained that I didn't send her "her" full order and that the stuff from the other order "didn't count towards her bottles". She got 6 bottles for the price of two, was notified before even getting the bottles and still wanted more free stuff. And of course she sent a nasty email saying she will never order from me again.

All you people are basically doing nothing more than driving up the prices of doing business for everyone involved and it's pretty trashy.
 
Damn, lots of different info floating around here. I called earlier and asked about AppleCare+ and how I was trying to add it on the website and wasn't able to. The (very sweet) CSR told me that I would have had an option to add it online when I preordered the phone, but that she would be more than glad to assist me. After explaining that I had to go through the reservation system that req'd me to complete the order the next day, and it didn't have an option to add AppleCare+, she apologized and told me she was aware of that issue. She said I would have to call the support line tomorrow when I receive my phone to have the option added. It's funny that some of you are saying they told you to go in-store to have it added on; I asked her if that was something I would be able to do at an Apple Store since I never pass up an opportunity to visit, especially if I have a reason to go, and she told me they aren't able to add it on in-store unless you were purchasing there. Never got an offer for any compensation.

What are you guys saying to Apple to get the free case? I managed to pre-order and got one secured for release day delivery. I genuinely don't know what to say but really want a leather case.

Would appreciate some help. Thanks!


I was kinda testing it.. I didn't preorder from Apple. I tried to.. Even got a reservation number.. But numerous issues on their end prevented me. I called basically explaining my frustration and the lady didn't offer me anything.

I called Apple back and said, "I was on the phone with an Apple rep and she offered me a complimentary case for my troubles but our call dropped "

I then re-explained my failed attempts at ordering my iPhone. She placed me on hold to talk to her manager and then confirmed she actually could send me a free case.
 
I got told i'll have to ring apple UK to be able to add/change my order..


Only spent 19 minutes on hold #

LOOOL, you played it smart and made them think they offered you one. I would find it awkward to ask for a free case, but I might try out your method. Thanks for sharing ;)

If I ever need a mental picture of what I envision when I hear the phrase "entitlement mentality", I think I just discovered it.

I knew about this from a long time from a previous poster, I called on Wednesday and have two cases coming for tomorrow delivery along with my iPhone 6!:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::cool::cool::)
 
Post here if Apple gave you a free leather case for you 6/Plus

Yup got a midnight blue leather one for my 6 Plus :)

I just got off the phone with Apple 5 minutes ago. I was offered a free leather case for my 6+ That I should receive next week. I (respectfully) complained about how I was forced to renew my contract. I asked is there anything they could do to help me or if there was a way to help compensate for being forced into a new contract. I was offered the case right then and there.
 
And for the people that feel bad for Apple or saying that we're driving up prices by getting free cases, think about this. It literally costs Apple under $5 to make each case, so say they gave away 20,000 cases, that's only $100,000. That's chump change to Apple plus they're making these customers happy by offering them this unexpected gift which in turn makes them more likely to purchase more Apple products in the future.
 
Same thing happened to me. Called about AppleCare+ and got a free case out of it. The rep spoke to his manager quickly and even personally emailed me after. Woohoo.
 
Haha just called for AppleCare+ in hopes of being denied and offered a free case, but I was able to get the AppleCare and it was super easy! Oh well I guess I don't need a case now

I said yes,,,, after complaining about trying apples site for 3 hours without success.
He says OK I added a free case for the inconvenience.

I'm thinking of pre ordering a 6 Plus, haven't done it yet
