Just traded in my 14 (exactly 14) day old MBP 2.4GHz for a sparkling new 2.5GHz machine. All stock for now with more RAM coming shortly.

Overall, I'm happy with the upgrades. I actually like the keyboard (we own both a MB and a MBP, I prefer the MBP keyboard)

Congratulations to everyone that purchased a new machine today!

I bought the 17" High Res SR MBP on launch day. After using it since then I find that it's too big and the high res screen is killing my eyes. I've been planning to buy a 15" mbp as soon as they update for the past 2 months...well today's the day and I just placed my order for the new baseline 15" 2.4ghz mbp :)

Anyone want to buy my 17" SR?

Oh ****... I did it...
Just ordered the 2.5ghz mbp with 7200rpm hd... Can't believe I just threw 3 360 dollars with student discount at apple...

Hope it's worth it. The cache was my main reason for choosing this over the base model.... I really hope i didn't make a bad decision.
I'm currently on a first gen macbook btw.

Im going to go up to my local apple store at willow bend mall in Plano, TX tommorrow to buy mine, im going for the 2.5GHz 15"

Did they charge you a restocking fee?

Sadly, yup.. it was 10%. One of those things that I don't agree with and I guess I'm not enough of a smooth talker to get out of it. :(

My other two options were keep the 2.4 SR and get 500 bucks back (due to it being the base model now), or get the base model, less the restocking fee and end up with about 280 bucks back in my pocket.

For me, the multi touch, larger hard drive, as well as the video ram made my decision for me.

im on my new mbp 2.4 matte right now... still getting everything situated and having an awesome time doing it.

This is my first mac laptop, how to i right click things with the trackpad? i tried following the website demo, but i must be doing something wrong...

:D

I posted this is another thread but I'll paste it here because it's more appropriate.

I was looking to buy a new laptop and I settled on getting a new MBP. I did my research and decided to wait until these updates. So I agonized like everyone else and checked macrumors.com daily to see when Apple would finally update the Pros. I have been using an old Dell laptop so anything is a huge upgrade for me. So when I saw that the new MBPs came out today I went to my local Apple Store and picked up the $1999 15". I've never owned a Mac before and I am not really experienced with using MacOS. Here is my opinion of my new Macbook Pro coming from an unbiased newbie Mac user.

This thing is extremely fast and smooth. I'm very familiar with the "spinning beach ball of death" as I called it along with all my friends as we had to use hideously slow ibooks in high school. Well I have yet to see that damn ball and everything has been extremely snappy. By fault, I admit I am a pretty anal person when it comes to new things, so I was disappointed to have a dead pixel (yes just one, and fortunately its near the top of the screen so its not a big deal) But, I would rather not have a dead pixel if given the choice . I would of liked for the update to have had a magnetic latch because mine seems to be a little on the loose side when my MBP is closed. This is not a large gripe but something I noted to myself. Also, I am not a big fan of the keyboard, which I hoped they would of updated. I am usually pretty fluid when typing on my old Dell. I find myself having trouble typing without having to stop and fix a mistake on the MBP. Keep in mind I've had this thing less than a day so maybe I'll getting better at it. What I really want to note is the amazing battery life that this thing has. I admittedly know nothing about Macs so I looked a Mac beginners guide which advised me to calibrate my battery right away. Little did I know how difficult this would be. It was difficult because my dang MBP doesn't want to run out of battery power!!! I kid you not on it's first full battery the thing lasted 5 hours plus with constant use and me finally having to watch a DVD to try and drain the thing. It's sleeping soundly now as I type this out on my sluggish Dell. The battery life is a huge plus for me as I am going to need my MBP for school and note taking, its going to be convenient to have so much battery life with one recharge. Those are my feelings on my new MBP. I know that many of you were unhappy with the update but for me it was the perfect time to buy a new laptop and I'm very happy I went with the MBP when I did.

I called up Apple customer service today and they said I could get $150 if I kept my mid level MacBook or I could return it and get a refund on the computer and by a Penryn MacBook later. There was no mention of a restocking fee or anything. Yeah!

My company is ordering a 2.4 Base model... It will be a trade up from my current Santa Rosa MBP :)

Even though its almost the same thing, Im always excited for new technology :)

I'm typing from my brand new penryn 15" 2.4 GHz macbook pro!! I love it!!! :D I really can't complain, at this point almost anything is lightning speed compared to my 6 year old 1GHz PIII desktop. Like roadstarsoul, this is my first mac. Can't wait to install CS3 and get see what this puppy can do! :D :D :D

Yep, just bought the 2,5 15", no BTO but 4GB ram on the way from 3-rd party.. Oh yhea, bought an Airport extreme to..

I was one of the first ones (I suppose) to buy a new MBP today! I got it from the Mexican Apple Store Online a few minutes after they were posted. I bought the cheapest model with 2.4 GHz, BTO 250 GB HDD, 2 GB ram, and an apple remote!

The only bad thing is that its gonna ship in 7-10 days... Normally we are the only country to receive the updates at the exact same time as in the US and the shipping times are only 1 day more than there. It sucks that I'm gonna have to wait that long... I'm really excited though.

Well I was going to order a new Macbook but since the refurb SR 2.2 black Macbooks were such a good deal at $1049 I ordered one of those instead. I just got an email from Apple that it shipped a couple minutes ago.
