If there was no update today, I was ready to buy a PC laptop. Fortunately for Apple, they finally got that damn update out. Nice BIG update. I really needed the bigger video card and bigger HDD to make this worth it. I am very happy they updated more than just the Proc.

Got the 2.4 MBP

does anybody know where these are shipping from? I ordered the 2.4 base 15 early this morning and paid for overnight. The email says delivered by March 3rd:eek:

My local store is supposed to have them in the morning, WTF, I'm not gonna wait, I'm gonna go get one.

2.5GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
MacBook Pro 15-inch
2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1GB
200GB Serial ATA @ 7200 rpm
SuperDrive 8x DL
Apple Remote

Already ordered 3rd party 4GB of ram cant wait to get it, says delivery march 3 - march 7, cant wait :D

Ordered today

I ordered my first Mac ever this morning and after 2 months of waiting, its even Penryn based!:) Apple store says the shipping date is the 3rd of march, so I expect it to arrive next week. I am happy to see that it comes that fast, because new Apple products need more time to arrive here in Germany, from what I´ve experienced before.

ordered yesterday

Hi, I'm in my last PC-days as of next week I'm a Mac user - ordered the 2.5 GHz 15" model yesterday :D:apple::D

Bought high end 15"

I went and picked up the high end 15.

Build quality:
I encountered some flames here for returning two SR MBP's (and a hyperventilating Air) in the last 45 days, but hey, I am not keeping a machine with shoddy build quality. Luckily, I can report that the Penryn machine I picked up last night is not only tight and flush all around, but the screen has no discoloration whatsoever, it is perfect. Hallelujah!

Dropped by the local Fry's on the way home and scored 4GB of quality ram for only $100 and voila! Portable powerhouse.

The only thing I have found the multi touch useful for so far is the history feature in Safari and folders. Other than that I wouldnt have noticed.

I considered the top shelf 17", but an additional 700 bucks for some screen realestate combined with losing alot of portability just didnt seem worth it.

Happy camper.

Yesterday I bought mine.

2.4 Ghz / 250 Gb / 4 Gb RAM / 256 VRAM

Then I changed my mind today.
Ram can always be upgraded, but not so for the processor and the video card.

So I called Apple and changed it:
2.5 / 250 Gb / 2 Gb RAM / 512 VRAM

I hope I don't have any trouble with the bank due to this.

Just ordered the 2.4 with a 7200 hdd in Holland on Apple.nl, it says I have to wait till 6 - 7 march for delivery. Now I gonna order some 3rd party memory. The mem specs didnt change, right?

I finally pulled the trigger and got the lowest end model! After making the mental decision months ago, it was a bit easier. Still, it's a big ticket purchase...can't believe I dropped over 2k after tax and education discount..

Buying tonight:

15.4" MacBook Pro
2.5 GHz C2D
250GB HDD
2GB RAM (3rd Party UG to 4GB)
512MB GeForce 8600
AppleCare

32GB iPod Touch

I'm still hesitant in some ways but I ordered...

2.5GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
MacBook Pro 17-inch HR GL WS
2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1GB
250GB Serial ATA @ 5400 rpm
SuperDrive 8x DL
BkLit Keyboard

2-3 Weeks :(

I couldn't decide between the 15 and 17 but the 17 is only an inch bigger around. I think I can manage that. Plus it will be replacing my iMac.

Im debating on changing the hard drive to the 7200 200gb. How much more battery life will that affect?

oh and i ordered 4GB of ram from a third party retailer. :)

Picked it up last night after work.

15.4", 2.5GHz, 250 HDD, Matte, AppleCare. My first mac! I'm sure I will love it.

Enjoy!

Bought the high-end 15¨ yesterday. It won`t arrive until 14. - 17 march, though. Two more weeks of waiting. :(

I bought mine via the ADC store. Why does it take 2-3 weeks to ship? My order says it's "Custom configured".

2.5GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
MacBook Pro 17-inch HR GL WS
2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1GB
200GB Serial ATA @ 7200 rpm
SuperDrive 8x DL
Apple Remote
No iWork Preinstalled
No Final Cut Exp Preinstalled
No Aperture Preinstalled
No Logic Exp Preinstalled
BkLit Keyboard/Mac OS
Country Kit

It's the HR GL screen. Mine too :). Hopefully it will arrive before the quoted date of March 24. I've waited about 6 months to buy this thing, and even replaced the motherboard (about $100) in my Dell just to keep it running while I waited. So I guess another 3 weeks won't kill me.

The crappy printer I'm getting w/the $100 rebate will be here imminently though :).

Ordered 15", 2.4Ghz, 2GB, 200GB, Glossy Screen yesterday with Student Discount yesterday.

It will be my first Mac, replacing my Dell Inspiron 6000

I just canceled my order on my 17" because I was debating on the faster HD and would have to if I chose to. I might just pop down to the 15". I can't decide what I want anymore.

I ordered last night: the base model 2.4GHz 15" MacBook Pro, $1799 with my .edu discount. This will replace my 2004 PowerBook G4.

But now I'm wondering whether I shouldn't have chipped in the extra $90 for the 7200RPM hard drive; does it make that much of a difference?

Happy Camper

Picked up mine last night at the local Apple store.

15" 2.6 GHz/200 HD 7200 rpm/ Matte screen.Coming from my 3 year old PowerBook G4 it's like going from a horse drawn carriage to a Lamborghini! I don't care if a newer faster one comes out in June, it was time for a faster machine. NOT TO MENTION THE FANTASTIC LONG BATTERY CHARGE.;)

I'm typing from my brand new penryn 15" 2.4 GHz macbook pro!! I love it!!! :D I really can't complain, at this point almost anything is lightning speed compared to my 6 year old 1GHz PIII desktop. Like roadstarsoul, this is my first mac. Can't wait to install CS3 and get see what this puppy can do! :D :D :D

Ya im going to go buy my 2.5 15" tonight, i cant wait because ive been using this 500MHz PIII lol.
