Horizontal scrolling

On both my iPad 3 and iPhone 5 the horizontal scrolling near the bottom of the screen seems exceedingly flakey. An example of this might be scrolling through a collection of frames in PhotoToaster or Snapseed.

My iPad 3 is really sluggish overall. Mr. Reader will always crash when trying to close an article. As others said, the five finger gestures stop working every now and then.

I really need to learn to just never update older devices. :)

Hello!

Is it just me who has problems with share options in safari and photo app? I can use all the extensions but when I try to put them in a new order for example to put pocket in the front. But then when I shut down safari and will take up share options, so they're in the default order again ... does anyone else have this problem?

Look at the screen shots to understand what I mean

Before shut down of safari on the right when I have it in the order I like, then after shut down of safari on the right.

That happens to me as well.

Safari on my 5s is super slow to load pages, getting timeouts. Tried hard reset, reset network settings with no luck. Speed test shows 30mb down so it's getting a good connection. Other apps that require network access are slow such as tapatalk.

Lots of reports on Apple discussions of this happening with iPads and iPhones.

Find Friends

The map takes much much longer to appear as compared to IOS 7 on 5s and IPAD 3

I've had apps like Gmail complain I they couldn't load data on my 5s. When I retry it works. I've also seen slow network activity at times. For example I added a mail account and it took a very long time for the 5 emails on the screen to load. Much longer than under iOS 7.1.2.

Other times loading is more or less normal.

The strange thing is that youtube works fine when watching a video, but there is a long pause when loading the list of videos in a channel. Something strange is going on with the network.

When I restart my phone safari works normally for ~15 minutes then slows to a crawl. Loading pages simultaneously with my non retina mini (ios 7) and my 5s (ios 8) the 5s takes at least 30 seconds longer.

Nope. Always defaulted back to its default state. As it should. It's not an app. It's settings. Why should I have to dig myself out of a deep setting to adjust a new setting. Makes no sense.

edit: removed personal info

I tried switching apps, killing the app, locking the phone, waiting 10 minutes, using Safari, and after each one going into Settings returned me to the place I was (incidentally, it was General->International->Calendar).

Multitasking gestures, Keyboard, more...

On iPad Air:

Multitasking gestures don't always work. Both four and five finger swipes are erratic. It was working fine for a while, then suddenly stopped. Have to reboot in order to get it to work. This has happened several times.

Keyboard doesn't always collapse after typing. Have to press the keyboard icon several times before it works.

The + sign when adding a new tab in safari has to be pressed several times before it will work. This doesn't happen every time, but on occasion.

iBooks auto night mode is erratic. When viewing bookshelves or lists, night mode would engage on its own, even though it was broad daylight. Then the next time I opened iBooks, it would be in day mode. After opening and closing a book, my shelves would be back in night mode again. All during daylight hours (around 11:00 am). Reboot seemed to correct it, but only temporarily.

When trying to highlight typed text to edit, cut, or copy... Some of my words disappear. The space where the words were located is still there, but the words are now invisible. Also, the cursor doesn't always show up.

I, sure there are other things, but that's all I can think of right now.

Iphone 4S
very frustrating trying to copy PIN from safari
to linking app but every time it paste something i copied who knows when and not the text from Safari ?!?!?

Annoying anyone found a fix yet ?

Do Apple know about this ?

Does Iphone 5/5s users get this ?
I have the same bug, selection in safari is problematic, for one thing you can't always deselect when touching somewhere else.

Also, in the music app, if you scrub, and move your finger across the bar from bottom to up (going across the bar), the position indicator goes crazy!

Finally, the video player opening does NOT make the keyboard go down.

Edit: Oh yea, the weather app lags like hell. And the guy that decided 0.5 and 2x speed settings for audio books were good should be put on a slow fire and roasted.

Safari could "potentially" be slow because of the 4th tier LLVM javascript optimizations that trade low latency for high throughput by actually compiling the javascript. A slow process that is very cool, and you can read up here. I saw a 33% speed up in a SHA hashing benchmark by going to iOS 8. Quite worth it I believe.

I fixed the slow safari page loading by turning off all search settings and fraudulent website warning in the safari settings. Now it's working normally.

I found standing right next to my Wifi router made little difference, but switching from a 2.4 Ghz to 5 Ghz made things really quick for a while. Maybe it's because the network reset when I did that. Got an 80 Mbps speed test on 5 Ghz. 46 Mbps on 2.4 Ghz.

I can't sync my apps over to my iphone at all, it gets stuck going on forever on the final step of syncing and nothing gets moved over. Ever since I upgraded, I haven't gotten my apps back yet. Can someone please help? I'm desperate.

Thanks

iPhone 5s on snowleopard.

Accessibility Zoom is now broken. Almost unusable now. Full window zoom setting is not being respected and the iPhone 5 and iPad 2 jump between the 2 settings, specially when the keyboard is visible. Very irritating bug. First time they mess with this critical function that was previously working perfectly

iPad Air

1) Sometimes when a notification drops down it won't go back up without me flicking it away

2) A couple of times when switching screen orientation the icons moved but the wallpaper stayed

3) I second what everyone is saying about Safari being slow. I'm standing in the room with my router, I'm getting 50mbps, and loading web pages is like I'm on AOL circa 1995.

4) I don't know if it's a bug but every time I go back into the music app instead of it going to the album I had just been listening to it goes to the iTunes Radio homescreen which means I have to continually find the dang album

No Celluar Data on iPad2 after iOS 8 update

I have to shut down my iPad several times until I get my Data to show up. Called AT&T to get tech support and they claim Apple's new update has caused a massive amount of calls and they can't help. Is Apple going to improve upon this update? If not, I may have to go back to using iOS 7.

Anyone else having same issue?

Please respond with similar issues with any advice or support for a fix.

Thank you!

Second picture is a screenshot from my Retina Mini. No, grayscale IS NOT turned on. You can tell with the color in the top search bar, and the search button the keyboard. Anyway, as soon as I would start to slide down for spotlight, the home screen would turn gray, and it would turn darker and darker, and more pixellated as I kept sliding down. No idea how or why it started happening, but a reboot fixed it.

I had that problem too and this fixed it. Turn on "reduce transparency" in settings then pull down spotlight. Now turn it off then spotlight should be fixed.

Other than more lag compared to 7.1.2, this is the only bug I noticed so far.

Something really weird happened with Safari on iOS 8. Beside not being able to post attachements it can be a fortune to even post on macrumors.

No issue on the MBP.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Anyone here have problems with their keyboard shortcuts not syncing?
After upgrading, my iPad Air no longer syncs keyboard shortcuts with my iPhone or MacBook Air. WTF?

I tried signed out and back in to iCloud settings in iPad Air and still the same thing. I remember there was an option to reset documents and data on iCloud.com. However, that option is gone!

This strange bug with long carrier names which causes lag in launching apps and during general use of the phone exists in iOS 8. It exists since iOS 7.1. Big dissapointment.

3rd party keyboards don't seem to work when using the quick reply function from the lock screen.

I have had problems with the orientation on my iPhone 6 plus. Before I had it in landscape and when I rotated the phone to portrait, it wasn't moving back no matter what. When I hit the rotation lock, it finally went back into portrait mode. Then when I clciked off the rotation lock it automatically when into land scape again. Had to shut down the phone to fix it.

A few times it's been hard pulling down the notification center and the quick access bar.
