I think that it all depend on the type of usage we have, unless it is as drastic as having 1 1/2 hour of usage and 7 hours of standby and it is already on 15%, *sigh*

I was having crappy battery life when I 1st got my ip4. Did the full discharge/charge cycle twice and left with my phone in tow for a weekend trip over the 4th.

When I came back home on Monday I realized I hadn't charged my phone the whole time I was gone, and this is what my usage stats looked like

Just goes to show you that good battery practices/management goes a long way! :apple:

...howwwwwww??

And to think I was impressed with mine:

I was as shocked as you are bud!

Granted, I didn't do a ton of graphic intensive things while away on my trip- I checked email, a lot of web browsing, a few short phone calls. My girlfriend did play about an hour of Angry Birds so all in all I was really impressed!!

I think I got a dud?

1 hour 14 min usage
3 hours 9 minutes standby.

86% .

How does that compare guys?

I think that is par for the course. Also, it depends on your settings, what you did for that 1 hour and 14 minutes...you know?

To people asking whether their battery is crap..

Only post screenshots when your battery life is under 10%. That way it is easier to tell :)

Battery: 2%

Usage: 7 hrs 40 min
Standby: 2 days, 1 hour

Brightness 50%, no auto
Wifi: Off
3G: on
Mail: Push, 15min

Used for probably 20 emails, regular checking of email, several hours of calls, 30-50 texts, WWF, many other apps. I frequently force-quit apps from the multi task menu...not sure whether that helps

That is pretty damn good, Im trying to get that good as well, but don't seem to go that far :(

One question though, does the data cable matter, I am using my iPhone 4 wall plug with my 2007 iPod touch data cable, does that make a difference? The phone charges even though the cable is pretty beat up.

While not being an expert by any means, I would imagine that while it doesn't really make a difference...but it does seem that the wall charger charges quicker than when it is hooked up to the computer. I don't think it would matter that you're just using the cable, it is about where the cable draws power from. In your situation, it would be drawing power from the wall anyways.

EDIT: Also, my iPad won't charge when hooked up to the computer, only when hooked up to the wall charger...so that makes me think that there definitely is a power differential.

My battery looks good on paper but, I have some doubts

3G always on
Wifi always off
Auto Brightness off, Brightness at 35%
Location Services off
Notifications off
1 Email account is set to Fetch Manually

About 30 txt msgs, 40 minutes of phone call, 2 hours of 3G web browsing, checking mail manually regularly, about 5 or so emails.

The rest of the usage is really just using the calculator or fiddling around in the settings or waking the phone from sleep. No camera, no video chat, no iPod usage, no video watching.

What I've noticed is that the phone seems to drain the most battery when I "unlock" the phone from it's sleep. Using the web browser will drain it at a normal pace.

But it seems like everytime I "unlock" the phone from it's sleep, the battery drains rapidly. Using the phone normally doesn't seem to drain it so rapidly.

Does this seem normal? Although my stats look good on paper, pretty much everything is turned off. I would expect a little bit better battery with everything turned off.
