pretty much sold on SG now

Wow, looks great guys! I really need to upgrade to a retina display. Still stuck on my MBA '12. I would probably get the MBP in a couple years. Maybe the Macbook.

Forgive me, as I have severe colorblindness with different shades, is that gold or silver?

Ooh! It looks perfect for couch/bed use. I was worried it'd be too cumbersome for that.

Yea, I use my 11' air on my lap probably 60% of the time and its great. Its so light and small for a laptop. I could only imagine the new macbook is even better since its lighter.

I've been converted to laptops now. SO much better than desktop for convenience.

Why? It's 2 pounds. Even the Air/rMBP is good for that.

I was worried that the form factor and size would make it somewhat cumbersome, but it looks like it will be fine in picture.

It isn't a weight issue. My iPad 3 is already 1.5 pounds.

Ah, I'm so glad that I opted for silver. Nobody has one. It's the new space gray.

I'm not sure how this will translate across the internets but I'm attempting to show the difference in resolution between the 11" MBA (left) and the 12" rMB. Stare at the one on the left all day and you'll think you need new glasses.

[edit] Unfortunately, it seems you have to look at the photo on a retina display to see much difference.

Which resolution is the MB running at?

Both with displays set at 50% and keyboards set at 80% brightness.

Neat, thanks for the side-by-side. I hadn't seen any photos like that of the new keyboard. I'm not really sure what people use their backlit keyboards for, but the new one looks pretty cool. The light bleed on previous backlit keyboards always drove me crazy.

E: I don't just mean that as a 'learn 2 touchtype lol' comment, but also even if you can't touchtype the screen itself gives plenty enough light to read the keys in a dark room.

I never understood the point of a retina display on a computer. Isn't "retina" supposed to mean that the pixels arent distinguishable at normal viewing distances? Well guess what, I cant see the pixels on my 11' air.

I can, easily, and my 55 year old eyes aren't that great.

Thanks for posting this. Puts me at ease after seeing that thread about the rMB lid not going back enough. That angle looks plenty enough for me.

So far so good on the tilt for me. It's actually really comfortable to type on and my eyes are shot after 20+ years of working on a computer.
