for shame... ours actually is the real thing, so it'll adapt to any machine, making it exactly like the real thing.
AFAIK there are only variables for CPU, RAM, and Startup Disk. Those are the real detected info, but the About Keaton title, model name and graphics lines are static labels.

Perhaps if someone wants to go into code a bit this could be solved, but I doubt it'll be an easy thing to do. For now, If I ever copy this install to another Mac I'll have to remember to change those lines.

It should make @Gamer9430 happy that I'm planning to name my mid 2010 white MacBook Nick. I still remember his thread from a year ago and I'm happy to finally have a white MacBook, the best model no less. :)

Thanks! Means a lot. That MB still works great. I decided to downgrade to Mavericks since I felt it was a much smoother experience, but come September and I'm going to dual boot between Sierra and Mavericks. Lucky for you, you don't need to hack Sierra onto your 2010 MB, but that's for a different thread ;)

True, and it's already rocking the Sierra Public Beta now. Runs fairly smoothly although I haven't gotten an SSD for it yet and it badly needs one. Will your WiFi work ok or do you have the kext-less AirPort card?... But, let's not sidetrack this thread any further. :)

Maybe eventually we can add tabs with more info, I'd love if it showed the serial number and graphics. In the future possibly!

Is the info in your window static or does it update for whatever spec computer it's on? @gavinstubbs09, myself, and several other users are actively searching for an About This Mac that has non-static graphics, serial number, etc.

The computer name, graphics, and serial number labels are static. This is actually @SourceSunTom About This Mac. I just added the static labels and did a few edits to make it aesthetically close to the original.

Here is a similar Sierra's "About This Mac" on my PowerBook G4.

Static labels can't be added, It would take too much time to create a "script" to make the the labels match the serial number, GPU... (But the user could do it himself like you did ;) )

"an About This Mac that has non-static graphics" is not possible as the About this mac (loginwindow.app) application doesn't provide the code to do that in it,
All we can do is edit the .nib that was left unencrypted :/

I see, thanks for clarifying that.

I decided to embrace the lowercase m this time because in this context it looks nice. Especially to form "macOS X" instead of "Mac OS X" :)

More RAM than anyone ever probably considered having in this computer, and really more than the computer knows what to do with.

I will say that going from 300-some odd MB of mixed RAM to a couple hundred MB of matched, interleaved RAM did make a big performance difference-I'm actually, for example, able to type this post with no lag between pressing a key and the number appearing.

I'm monitoring memory useage, and of course OS 9 really isn't that efficient at using a lot. With that said, the OS is currently parked at 96mb, which reinforces my hesitancy to use it on older PowerBooks and the like. My Kanga is maxed at 160mb, and my 3400c has 48mb(max 144mb).

In any case, here's the fulll view with all 12! RAM slots filled. I think this was the last computer Apple made with more than 8 RAM slots.

It's a iMac G4 20" indeed :), great machine. I'm in love with the screen and the movable arm.

Is it a coincidence that there is a folder on the desktop titled "MDD"?
Haha, it contains schematics for a powermac G4 MDD with a bad PSU I'm trying to fix.
