Ummm... Thank you?

At least the message was positive? :)

At least it is better than the Withings app for digital scales. It's motivational messages are based on weight change since the last Sunday, with no accounting for trend or quantity.

Put on 1/10th of a kilo on Monday, even if you have lost 2 kilos in the week prior, and you will cop the "Don't lose sight of your goal" message.

Get stuffed Withings, don't even tell me a thing until I have gone up or down 2kg from average.

IMG_7574.jpgI'm a Newbie. Just did 30 minutes outdoor cycle and I don't get credit. 8 mpg not good enough for Apple Watch. Eeeks. Guess I'm going to have to step UP my game.

Very impressive! Mine isn't likely to ever look that good. :) I'll be starting over on Tuesday, as I had to do a reset due to a charger problem. I guess it's a new chance for perfect!

Let's all post our Apple Watch work out's/ Activity rings! This will be a great way for us to play with our new gadgets and get motivated to do some exercise! Plus all those June orders will have something too look at :p. Lol

Here's a couple of mine

I deactivated the Activity Ring on my AW as it would just drain battery life. I'm a cyclist and do crazy rides. This past weekend 3,050 calories on Saturday, 2,421 on Sunday. I use Strava to track my activity

Has it prompted you to up your move goal calories? Mines set high enough so that if I don't intentionally excercise, it doesn't get filled. I might change that.
Yes, if I don't ride my bike for half an hour I won't hit the goal. Exept for some days I change the move goal to be lower. Like when I have hockey and my watch doesn't track an entire hour of intense activity because I don't wear it there.

There's something odd going on with my activity rings. I've been walking more than ever, but I can't seem to complete even very low Move goals anymore. Before, I used to have a 400 calorie goal and could complete it easily if I took a walk, but now I can't seem to complete even lower goals after walking a lot more. I literally didn't complete my goal any day this weak, and it was only set to 350 calories. Even when I do meet the goal, it seems pretty low for the amount that I walked. The other day I walked (according to the watch) 16,620 steps or 7.76 miles, but only burned 548 calories.

The main thing I've been doing differently is that I'm not explicitly using the Workout app to tell the watch I'm exercising. Can that make such a difference? I also wonder if the change to heart rate monitoring in WatchOS 1.01 isn't related.

Quick question for everyone here regarding the TDEE. How accurate do you all consider the watch/phones TDEE estimator to be? Most online calculators are giving me an estimated amount of 3,200 calories daily on the higher end but the watch seems to consistently rank my needs at 3.8 to 4k calories. I'm trying to gain at the moment and I can't seem to eat enough. Appreciate any responses.

There are several standard formulas for calculating TDEE and we don't know what Apple'e algorithms are based on. However since body composition is not accounted for it is not likely based or built on the Katch-McCardle method. I wish Apple would move to this but since most people (the general population) don't understand or even know their body composition then it must be something like a variation on the Harris-Benedict method.

Of course these can only be estimates (or guidelines) since all the individual variables can NEVER be accounted for. Apple does have one big advantage over most TDEE calculators: your dynamic Active calorie count.

I can empathize with you on weight. I have been a (near) life long athlete with single digit (low) body fat as long as biometric scales have been available (almost 20 years). I carefully monitor all caloric ins and outs to try and and maintain enough BF (hard to get sympathy for that :D). So you will probably need to consume near Apple's high end in order to gain.

Apple has me in the 2700 - 3200 range. My daily average caloric intake since Jan 1 2015 is 3234 kcal. I also eat a lot of raw foods when reduce net calories by about 10%, so Apple algorithms look to be fairly accurate. Also just did an on-line Katch-McCardle and got 2994 which is not too far off.

2 Days to go to make it 2 for 2. I need some competition for inspiration in order to get the next 2 days.:D Surely there must be some others going for the 6/2015 Achievement Award to add to the 5/2015 one.

At first I thought the Activity thing was kinda gimmicky but I'll be danged if each day I get frustrated if I don't get close to closing that ring. Great work, Apple!
