I know the iPhone 4S is not a fair comparison, but just an example, I also ran the Speedtest on it at my current location. By the way, I'm getting 4 bars on my Verizon iPad, while the AT&T iPhone only has one bar.

AT&T iPhone 4S
Download: 0.27 Mbps
Upload: 0.08 Mbps
Ping: 75 ms

Looks like I made the right choice with ATT. I need to switch mine out for a scratch in the back panel and was considering switching. I live in Plano now, but im moving to Carrollton next month.

Thanks for posting :)

Sweet! I'm in Flower Mound and can't wait to get home from vacation and test out my new ATT iPad!!!

This is kind of stupid, if you don't know if people are connected to an LTE tower, what is the point of this.

Not as fast as the speeds I got earlier in Arlington Heights, IL. Yes, the indicator still shows "LTE" on the iPad. Maybe here in Elgin, the Verizon coverage isn't as good. Still, it's better than what I got on my iPhone 4S:

Download: 3.56 Mbps
Upload: 0.83 Mbps
Ping: 107 ms

Anyone in the Chicagoland area have an AT&T LTE iPad? I would like to see what speeds you get.

And is it safe to assume that the less bars you have, the worse your connection?

Goldsboro, NC area

I have a 16 GB AT&T LTE model. I have 4G in my area apparently, and get about 5.5 Mbps download, 1 Mbps upload with 3 bars of signal so not too bad. Better than what I get on my iphone 4 with 3G.

Will probably stick with it but swap to a Verizon model next year with the next version due to wider spread 4G/LTE network. That will give Verizon another year to increase their 4G/LTE network even more and then probably won't have to worry about dropping down to their 3G.

My Time Warner Cable broadband is about 24.83 Mbps down an 2.06 Mbps upload in comparison

I'm pretty sure that the 4G means you're on their HSPA+ network which would be right considering the speeds you're getting. I'm in Fort Worth, and my iPad says LTE when on the higher speeds. It says 4G when it loses an LTE signal. If you don't ever see "LTE" next to your signal, you might want to switch to Verizon now. My AT&T LTE speeds are around 18 mb down, 27 up.

Well, part of the problem is that I live in a small city in NC. We didn't get 3G for AT&T until like Dec of 2010 or Jan 2011. Before that we had EDGE which sucked so bad here that I didn't even use data when I was way from home and WiFi. Would actually turn it off to preserve the battery in my iphone even longer since it was pointless. Could still get phone calls and text messages (this is before imessage came out) with data off. So 4G HSPA+ is a step up and to be honest, very surprising it was here. Raleigh will have LTE and I maybe some of the places up north will when I travel to see family. Otherwise I can live with what I got at the moment. Maybe it will help keep my data down a bit so I don't owe my first born to AT&T, only my soul. :D

Here are my results for my 32 Gig Verizon LTE iPad. As expected, the LTE blows away the WiFi.....I think. Let me know if I am misinterpreting these results.
