... or will it? What if it has special packing material or little elves that jump out and do a little song and dance? What if the box has a big red sticker on it? We will never know if we dont see a picture!? ;)

LOL yeah you're right! Sorry my bad. Carry on folks.

Thanks for the pics, Mastamarek. Is that a 1080p Samsung LCD you've got? If so, any problems getting 1:1 pixel mapping on that display with the new Mac Pro?
Yes, its a samsung 40' 1080p LCD and the quality even on HDMI is a bit off. The colors seem fine but somehow the image quality doesn't satisfy me. I had to buy a ACD instead.

Here's some pics of the nice new 2600XT... LOVE THE INSDIE!

Is that aluminum casing have a heatsink pad or something on it? If not I cant imagine why they would block off the back of it, you would think they would want more passive cooling of the back of the card so that they wouldnt need to run that fan so much.

Hi there ! Apple have just shipped my Mac Pro mono-cpu today !! It will arrive on tuesday i think. So excited! I'll take a lot of photos of it and post them here as well. BTW, we'll know if there is the same motherboard as in the bi-cpu models (if we don't know yet?). :apple:

Hmm interesting. I also have a Samsung 40 1080p LCD TV. I have it running of a (PPC) Mac Mini via the VGA connection with a custom screen resolution to get a perfect 1:1 pixel mapping. Custom colour calibration and it looks great.

But when I plug my MBP in via DVI->HDMI I simply can't get the same quality. I think, perhaps, the screen treats the VGA input differently than the others...

Just got my Mac Pro.

I took a few photos of the unboxing process, laughing at myself the whole time.

As soon as I can get CS3 installed, and everything else set up, I'll post them to my newly created Flickr account.

After a frustrating experience at the Apple store, I finally received my Mac Pro today. Took some pics, of the Pro and the old G4 it is replacing, for the enjoyment only a Mac user can appreciate (or maybe not, they're not the greatest of photos)...

What was the specs on the G4?

That must be one HELL of an upgrade.

Thanks for the pics everyone.

Now, can someone crack theirs open again and get some macro shots of the new memory area? Darth posted some but the pics were to small to see. I just want to see what the layout looks like now that the top memory slots are inverted, like Mav & Goose were over that Russian Mig back in 1984.... :p

I'll open mine up tomorrow and take some more shots. Just the RAM area?

You know, I love the inside of this thing, the way everything is neatly packed and boxed. I love the way the interior has been thought about, designed as much as the exterior, rather than the usual jumble of components and wires... it kind of reminds me of those hostess trolleys that cabin crew push up and down plane aisles :D

I can't wait to get mine... my fingers are itching....

Great to see folks enjoying their new Mac Pro's. I've got the old 2.66 quad, not that it can really be termed 'old', and I wish I could go back in time to the day I received it and opened it up for the first time. Damn, they're incredibly beautiful machines, and that interior is just bliss. And then there's the power!

Edit: Lol, how tiny is that ATI card btw? Hilarious!

The inside of the machine is such a thing of beauty. Even coming from a Powermac Dual G5, which was a gorgeous tower itself, I was blown away with this thing.

Putting in the hard drives was so easy! It's the small things that make it so nice.

The ATi card - I'd like to know whose idea it was to go with the bitchin' flames. I got a kick out of that. :D

Ha, yeah... purchased that back in the 90's. It was originally a G4 450 Sawtooth, but just about everything had been upgraded during it's long tenure (from the processor to optical drive to memory, etc.). It's my home computer so it was suitable for my needs for graphics and editing photos. But I welcome my new Mac Pro with open arms. :D
