here's some of where you can see the ram:

yeah, here's one where the plastic cover is removed and you can actually see one of the sinks:

Have you tried to remove the plastic cover of the RAM (which maintain the fan at the bottom) et the grey plastic part on the front, at the left of the cpus ?
I tried myself but I didn't succeeded. Don't want to break anything :/. And it's not exactly the same assembling as the old MP.

Just a heads up...

A terry cloth towel is not a good place to put static sensitive devices such as RAM.

The processor/heatsink cover latches magneticly.

Seriously? Maybe I'm grumpy like grizz. I think it's silly to have a whole thread dedicated to the unboxing of a machine that looks exactly like the previous model.
It doesn't look *exactly* like the previous model.

The top memory riser board is upside down now. :p

ha.... that's a nice touch.... I used to be opening up this plastic thing covering the heat sink in order to remove the grey plastic fan assembly towards the front.... they were a pain to remove and you can never easily assemble them back just like before...

how about the two phillips screws at the bottom of the DIMM riser bracket?

have they fixed them yet? previously they were really difficult to remove and many Geniuses at the Apple Store simply take them out permanently for you leaving two ugly holes there.

Link updated to include a photo of the Pro with an Ikea Galant desk. I love having the computer off the floor and is within easy reach when the need arises.

what kind of speakers do you have - they look nice. Do they perform well?

Ok, here are my Mac Pro Unboxing Pics :)

I finally have my first Mac, and this thing is not only beautiful, but SUPER QUIET, and with Spaces, my productivity has already increased - and I'm only still installing various apps ;)

I do have a few questions on another thread in this forum...

Missing A Photo Of The Difference

That's great. But you forgot to take the one shot that does look different than the old Mac Pro - the inside the motherboard door shot where the memory card slots have changed. Now the top memory card hangs DOWN from a slot ABOVE the card's memory instead of BELOW it. So it's real easy to spot a new Mac Pro from an old one when you look inside.

Plus the video cards look different.

Your link has 3 Trojans attached to it...

Glad my work has a good virus scanner.

Pics look great! Are you using two 30"ers there? Also what lens were you using? Thanks :)

MT can correct me, but those are two 23" displays. Looks fantastic! I appreciate these photos as I've seen two 30s before but not the two 23s and what a great work space that creates. I have an 8-core 2.8 on the way with one 23" ACD. I am SO EXCITED!

My G4 MDD dual 1.42 runs better than it did even on day one as its gotten little upgrades over time, but, alas - it's hit a few software limits this year and it's time. Contrast that better than ever performance over five years with my work PCs which die a slow death over two to three years during which they just perform worse and worse until one day, the guy from IT just shakes his head.

I digress - MT - you and the 5D have captured the set up well. I'll try and restrain myself and capture my unboxing with my 30D but we'll see how far that patience goes.

Those are 23's. I used the 35 f/1.4L to get that particular shot.

Great photos. Nice clean set-up you've got. Where did you get the desk from?

Thanks! That's a Galant desk from Ikea.

Thanks for the kind words. It was really hard not to tear into it the packaging to get my new MP set up asap. I was ultra excited, but I had never taken unboxing pics before. It was fun, I'm glad I did it!

I don't know how that's possible...that website (and domain) belong to me, and I'm still working on main website anyway, so right now it's just a storage space.

I used Lightroom to create the web slideshow...maybe your scanner caught something because of that, but as far as I know, LR doesn't upload trojans with its code....

When I was at work clicking on the link, the corporate virus scanner blocked the site saying there was a virus there.
