i looked at it, my g4 laptop doesn't have any antivirus software - should i start to worry?

Thanks! That's a Galant desk from Ikea.

Forget the desk... how about those sweet hardwood floors?! Nice!

Totally off topic, but your photos all have a very "lomographic" look to them. Do you use a lomo or are you doing that in post-processing? (I speak specifically of the vignetting at the corners and the deep saturation.)

There's actually a pubic hair on the gray plastic to the left. Ewww.

I can't wait for mine! Do new Macs still have Apple logo stickers in them? It's been 3 and a half years since I bought a new Mac, so I'm not up on the new packaging ;)

Thanks!

I'm planning to keep my G4 for legacy stuff, standing alongside a new MacPro. Now I can plan my physical desktop accordingly. Great! :apple:

After a frustrating experience at the Apple store, I finally received my Mac Pro today. Took some pics, of the Pro and the old G4 it is replacing, for the enjoyment only a Mac user can appreciate (or maybe not, they're not the greatest of photos)...

Ah, thank you. My Dad and I refinished my floors ourselves. Before, they were a light orangey-red color, so we redid them in Ebony. Took two weeks to get the whole house sanded down to bare wood using a huge drum sander, but it was totally worth it.

As for my photos, it's just a 5D - the color is all it with a little Photoshop.

My Mac Pro came with the normal two, my ACDs didn't come with any.

what kind of speakers do you have - they look nice. Do they perform well?

Nothing fancy. Just some cheap Creative speakers I bought a couple years ago.

They do a decent enough job for my needs. I don't do any high end audio work, just listen to iTunes and the dialog in the home movies I've taped.

why is that bad?
Sort of, yes. It doesn't get the best circulation down there and what it gets is typically a lot of dust. I imagine there's some risk of static charge from the carpet too but I'm not sure of that. Vacuums sometimes give off a bit of charge as well so it's a bit dodgy to put the vacuum too near the machine.
I've always heard it's better to have them on the desk or at least raised up off the floor a bit.

The coldest air is always at the bottom. It's far away from any heat vent and it has plenty of room in the rear, it's actually cool to the touch. The static shouldn't be an issue, the computer is plugged in. To my knowledge there is no risk when the case is closed and it's plugged in. My PC was in the same spot for almost a year prior to the pro's arrival. No worries, I'm redoing my entire office soon enough.

Do you have any dead pixels or any issue with the ACD 30"?

No none, I've owned two Dell 2005FPW's they had 1 dead pixel each, then got some weird veins all over the screen. In addition to those I've had a 2405FPW. It has no dead pixels or vein issues. The 30" ACD makes them both look like garbage. The color accuracy and just the crispness of the 30" ACD are amazing. I was going to wait for a new ACD, but it's not going to happen anytime soon so I just got the current. If anything that is worth upgrading too comes out anytime soon I will upgrade to that most definitely, till then I <3 my new ACD and New Mac Pro!

I have my MP + 30" ACD on order and I'm waiting for 8800GT to be ready so they can ship. All I am really worried is the dead pixels issue as everything else can be replace without a fee. :( I will update you when I receive it. Thanks for the prompt reply :)
P.s.: Nice setup and really nice room. I wish I had a room (office) so nice :)

I was worried about dead pixels too. I bought it from the store just in case so I could go back and exchange it. My office is big, but the desk is way too small. I actually have a designer preparing a whole new look and layout with a much larger desk. I can't wait. I love the pro!

Got mine yesterday. Slapped in the RAM and eSATA card, been installing apps for hours and hours. No pics from me. It runs great. Crazy fast.
