OK

this is the Theater room I was talking about

as you can see in the photo, there is no theater to be seen, but on the right hand side of the fire place is a rock, you push it and a secret panel (one of the wooden panels opens to this

That is a 110" HD screen (projected), the media closet is located out in the other room in a closet, it supplies the whole house, uses a radio remote, This setup cost about $60,000. has VDU, comcast cable, blue ray (200 disc changer), 2x xbox 360, can be delivered to any TV in the house.

7.2 surround sound.

under the chairs are extra woofers, so you can have to option to feel the movie, Transformers was awesome to watch and feel.

Ahem! Anyone else notice how these two pictures aren't even of the same room?

By jove, I think you're right!!! I just sent the two pictures to my friends at the CIA, and they indeed concluded that they are not the same room. How you caught that before the rest of us is incredible.

Really?

Maybe I just didn't get it. But the post implies that a projector comes down from the heavens and transforms the room into a theatre room. Obviously not possible given the vast differences in the rooms.

And it can't be before/after shots, again, far too much difference.

What've I missed?

He says you press a rock on the fireplace and one of the wooden panels opens to a secret room behind. It's a separate room in the same house.

Here you go,it's all I have for entertanment.:)
It works well though,I like it.Except I could use a 30in flat screen TV/Monitor.

Sorry I couldn't post any pics directly to the forum, but the link above will take you to the online album for The Rubicon Theater. Enjoy!

Mine is still a work-in-progress...

Sanyo PLV-Z2000 1080 projector
100" motorized 16:9 screen built into cabinetry
Sony STR-DE897 7.1 amp (no HDMI inputs, so it's asking to be replaced)
Motorola DCT-3416 DVR
Older DVD/VCR combo
Panasonic BD-35 Blu-Ray Player
Mac-Mini 2.0gHz 2GB/160GB (Will use Plex when I feel like setting it up)
Wii with sensor bar mounted permanently into cabinetry
Slingbox Classic
4-way AV Switcher since I don't have enough inputs (what is it with receivers these days?)
Bose 5.1 speaker system (front speakers built into cabinetry)

Wall panel by seating to plug in iPod, computer, video camera, etc.
Input in bookshelf for iPod.
Soon to have Logitech diNovo Edge wireless kepboard for MacMini
Soon to have Time Capsule for main internet access point/media storage

Lighting is all Insteon controlled by an 8-button wall panel scene selector, and Indigo software on the MacMini (with control from iPhone as well).

All the equipment is in the far right cabinet. Beer fridge is in the far left cabinet. :D

I don't have multiple RAID arrays with shared media around the house and 6.3 TB of music videos and 19 TB of movies and TV shows. I like to keep it simple. :)

I'm speechless... Can I be your best friend? ;)

Now seriously that is sick. How much did it cost those set ups?

I'm sure that Star Wars setup cost a fortune. Mine (your second quote) was quite a bit more modest. Much of the sound equipment I already owned, so it didn't cost much, and myself, my wife, and my friend did almost all of the work (except drywall sanding...I said hell no to that less than an hour after I started). I'd say all in all, including all construction materials, labor, furniture, equipment, etc...mine was under $15k. I've also since upgraded my receiver to a Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K...it has a lot more inputs than my previous one at the same cost.

So, is it a concensus that normal TV + speakers entertainment setups are not allowed in here? Just remember some complaining about that some posts ago.

Mine is nowhere near those setup because I can only dream at this point, but i consider mine very much a home theater. It may not resemble a movie theater but it is what I can afford right now.

No, that seems a 'consensus' among a few people that didn't post their own 'theater' but someone else's. (Gee, doesn't the title read 'your'?)

Post where you watch entertainment in your home that's your version of a theater experience- it's interesting to see. Posting someone else's setup is kind of dull, but whatever.

No pics, but we have an el cheap "home theater" system.

42" Westinghouse LCD HD TV
FIOS
HD DVD player
Kenmore (LOL!) 5.1.

Red valore loveseat (both sides recline).

We added two red beanbag chairs for the kiddos, and put up red room darkening curtains over the two windows. That's actually a little too dark for the young one, so she is either in our laps on the loveseat, or she will find a way to turn the light on. lol

Some of you have way too much money and time.;)
I can't wait for around Christmas though,I'm getting a 48in flat screen and Mac Mini and PS3 for blue ray and that will be my entertainment hopefully.

My very modest rig as of now. A lot of stuff will happen in the near future, like new rack, Blu-Ray, new media streamer, more speakers.. Stuff like that.

Specs:
- Samsung 32-inch LCD TV 720p resolution
- IKEA LACK table
- Nakamichi AV-8 Surround Reciever
- DALI Concept II front speakers
- Self-built HTPC running XBMC
- PS3 (work)
- X360 (work)

I am pretty old skool when it comes to certain things :D

n700688795_1225509_4176.jpg

It's a Samsung 52" sitting on what used to be the stand for an old 48" Toshiba Tube TV that finally died. It's connected to an Entertainment computer with a Blu-Ray in it. And all of that is connected to a half decent Yamaha stereo system. It currently has Windoze 7 on it, but in the next weekend or so, I'll be trying to run XP in Fusion and hopefully not have any BR movie problems, and you all know what Fusion will be running in ;).

IMHO we can't be expecting pictures of only projection-based theatre setups, it's just more economical to have a TV, it's what most people have.

Although, I do have to say I have no respect for people who buy those cheap HTIB. Component setups or component HTIBs are the way to go.

Home Theatre

I've been lurking but decided to join this site because of this thread...

I'm in the process of setting up my H/T. It should be all delivered and set up in a couple of weeks.

Denon- AVR 4310ci receiver (networkable)
LG- 47LH41 47" TV
Univeral- MX900 Universal remote
Klipsch- Surround sound
Sony- PS3
Apple TV might be added - not sure yet.

I'm not very savvy with how to integrate all of it. Is there anyone out there that would be willing to answer some questions? All of the above is going to be networked to the items in my signature.
