This is great for the kids... i wish we had that kind of tech when i was little.

Cheers!:)

FABULOUS!

/thread

wow! that's awesome!

definitely making some cool memories with that.

I was looking for the speakers but couldn't find them. What kind of sound were you using? :D Looks like it was an absolute blast! I would love to put on something like that.

Agreed! Simply Amazing!

Great stuff, mtbdudex!

Thx everyone, it's kinda neat when you can use your equipment for other purposes. (and having leftover speaker wire was nice also)
fwiw, here is a build thread on the outdoor movie screen http://backyardtheater.com/forums/index.php?topic=4331.0, the guys at backyard theater very helpful.

The R/L/C/Sub speakers are Atlantic Technology System 350's THX Ultra (I bought them in 1999) from my family room set-up, below is 3 year old picture.
I move them, the Onkyo 787 A/V (10 yr old, 2000), and from the basement HT the PS3 and the Sony VW60 PJ whenever we do a outdoor movie.
Can I say, outside they sound so good, there are no first order reflections/comb filtering effects/etc.
Just sound radiating from its source to your ears.
I am floored by the 6.1 experience outdoors.

My brother in-law gave me a pair of Atlantic Technology Sys 274THX surrounds that I use only for backyard theater Rear surrounds.
I changed them from di-pole to bi-pole by reversing the polarity of the drivers on one side each speaker, for outside use no need for a null zone, no walls to reflect/radiate ambiance sound from.

projector: Panny AE2000U 1080p (ceiling mounted)
screen: 120" elite fixed screen
A/Vreceiver: Sony something or the other ( i built this 3 years ago and cant remember the components)
Speakers: some cheapo polk audio's i picked up at best buy :D

thinking about upgrading my panny to something else in the near future..this is my 3rd pj in 3 years.
well the first one was my intro into projectors.. a refurbed infocus sp5000, then i went to a sony aw15, which was cool but not bright enough and finally the ae2000u. i just like switching up after a while.

tizzl10, nice set-up, I've heard good things about the ae2000u.
See you have side wall acoustic panels, DIY? How'd they tame room reflections?
I plan on making some acoustic panels for my basement HT this winter.

Very nice and clean setup.

Also, that outdoor theater is absolutely awesome, I bet the kids love it, if you don't mind me asking what was the ballpark pricing on that (and what type of equipment)?

Some simply amazing setups here. Giving me some ideas for when I'm actually in a position to have one myself although its a good few years before that. :(

Warwagon how much did you spent on that setup?

I calculate that if i was to pay Australian retail it would be around $19,000

Luckily since i work directly with the industry I have been able to secure some really killer prices. So I would think it has set me back around $8-9000.

ust back from buying my home theater (to be delivered soon)

Great Selection of Equipment there, It will give you a very impressive result.

Another great setup. While the room is full of stuff, its still simple. To me, simple is always the best.

Thanks, though it's not what i really wanted to do due to the restrictions of the room. I needed to put the stuff somewhere so i had to make it work, given some time I'll make some changes. But till i get a larger room i can't do the magic thats in my head, after years of installing many others I have a brain bursting with ideas, though this will keep me happy for now.

Hey, since you are the expert, maybe you can help me with my dilemma.
