Is that an original Apple Cinema Display??? (1600x1024)

I spent 4 grand back in the day when it brand new to get my ex-wife a G4 867 (with GeForce 3) and the first Cinema Display (she did a bunch of photoshop / commercial printer work)

Yes it is, I still have it.

The Mac in the left corner is a G4 867 Ghz. With GeForce 4 Ti graphics card: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce_4_series#/media/File:NVIDIA_GeForce4_Ti_4600_Mac.jpg

The Mac Mini in the right corner a 2006 Dual Core 1.66 Ghz.

Man, you guys make me want to raid my storage unit... I know I have a Quicksilver G4 dual 1.0ghz with 23" Cinema Display somewhere in there. Along with a 20" and 24" iMac from the early Apple/Intel era. The early - mid 2000s were a revolutionary time for Apple computers.

Can't stand the Magic Mouse. Not a fan of mice generally, though they did the job okay when nothing else was available, and they may be better suited for some uses.

But just love the trackpad. :)

Within minutes of trying it I knew it was for me, and several years later I am still completely sold on it. Like a duck to water. One of Apple's best ever products, IMHO.

Still have a wired mouse (and keyboard) in the cupboard for Bluetooth failures. But it hasn't been used in years.

Why didn't you go for the i7? If you can afford an LG Ultrafine 5K and 32GB of ram, why not just pay a tad more for it?

I didn't want to wait any longer. If I return my i5 now I'll have to wait least 3 weeks for the i7 to arrive. And the i5 definitely performs better than expected. It runs 100+ Channel Logic X projects easily whereas my 2012 core i7 Mini would've already choked.

Thanks for the response. That's a very long time for a custom config. Mine took 5-6 days. Very impressive considering it got from China to my house in just under 2 days.

Hm.. 5-6 days I could live with that.. where are you from if I may ask and where did you order it?

Brexit country. I ordered it on the Apple website, upgrade the i5 model to an i7 and 16GB (student pricing of 16GB RAM is only £30 or so more than installing it myself). Not worth the hassle or risk, and 32GB is overkill for my casual use. When I ordered it, it said the estimated delivery time was 9-14 days (can't remember exactly), but then once it was dispatched from China it reduced by several days.

That’s not too bad. Tuesday is the last day I can exchange it.. still considering it. I know geekbench scores don’t say much in real life but what kinda scores is your mini getting?

No idea. I haven't downloaded it. Don't you have to pay to get the proper version? In light use (like mine - web browsing, MS office, etc), there is almost certainly no difference, but I just like knowing I have the best CPU possible, and the price of upgrading vs the total cost is what, 10%? You'll also get some money back on resale so it's not complete lost. In your case, the hassle is replacing it, not the cost I suppose.

The MM can run the LG 5k smoothly?
Absolutely :) But only if you add more ram. 8GB isn't enough since MacOS already uses +/- 5 GB.

No Geekbench is free. I don't have to sell it since I can simply return it to the Apple store until Tuesday but yeah it's more the hassle of replacing it.

Very nice KEF speakers, are they new? Aren't they too close from your ears?
I’ve had them for a few months. As for them being too close, I haven’t had any issue with that. I usually sit further back when listening. They sound awesome to me. But if im just watching YouTube or thing with dialogue im not cranking them. So its fine . But with music I’ll sit further back.

Mine. Temporarily setup until the new monitor arrives. ;)
Still have to install applications...

I don't know what you do at this workstation but I love the look of it.

Looks used & confused at the same time ;)

Contact lens cleaner? Pencil sharpener? Remotes by the dozen?Paper desktop and cardboard boxes? Cork tiles on the wall; a National flag!

I really do wish I could produce stuff and look like this at the same time.

By the time I had tided up I would be too knackered to work:)

Do you have to stand up to reach everything?

Really do recognise genius in this picture.

Regards.
