Taken early Saturday morning.

Looks amazing! Except I'd crop out the top quarter of the picture because of that awful monet/water color looking depth of field effect. It's not a smooth blur, it looks smudgy and bad. I don't know what is causing this, whether it is software-related photo processing effects, or if it is an odd characteristic of the sensor. Either way, Apple has done a bad job with that. Everything but blurred backgrounds look awesome. The little bit of depth of field we get due to the larger aperture of the lens looks awful. I wish Apple could go for a lower aperture of like f2.0 or f1.8, but I don't know if that would cause other issues, as I don't know all that much about lenses and such.

How is out of focus content supposed to look? Looks great to me

Taken on your Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Once again, you win, too darn good.

Just trying to have some fun and see if anyone noticed.

The moon pic was taken by doing 4K video on fz1000 then taking a screen grab of video frame. Funny thing the sharpness and detail from a screen grab of the 4K clip, was bett than taking the same photo in photo mode. Weird...

There are some great, good and average/poor shots.

So basically, it's a phone camera :D

History dictates that Apple will stick with this one for a while though, so get used to it!

That Verge comparison was very interesting. The iPhone, Samsung and LG all have very specific strongpoints, all excellent cameras in their own situations.

Nope. The tone of your earlier post implied that you knew better than everyone else and dictated how people should be using their for talking only.

Unfortunately, you read my tone incorrect. I do not believe this was telling anyone how to use their phone or that it's ONLY for talking. I simply stated what its primary purpose is supposed to be. It's a fact. Besides, it's no different than reading countless posts of people complaining about the iPhones features or lack of features. I have a difference of opinion. I was trying to shed an ounce of positivity.

What I wrote:

I just want to remind everyone that the iPhone's primary purpose is being a cell phone. I'm satisfied with the camera but then again I'm coming from an iPhone 4 so it's a drastic improvement. I have a DSLR for those times I need really great pictures.

Well there was the rumor about the next iPhone getting two cameras that combine together to stitch a really high MP image and also create enhanced depth of field effects from evaluating the offset between the cameras to create a depth map that can be selectively blurred. So that's likely at least by the 7S. I think A big area of focus going forward will be on brighter low-light photos. They may open up the f/2.2 lens to f/2 or f/1.8. Furthermore Sony is making huge strides in low-light high ISO performance so we should see those improvements make it to future iPhones.
