when in the finder in column view, i used to be able to hold down the "down" arrow key to scroll through the folders quickly to see if they contained anything. now if i do that, it scrolls down, but, until i let go of the key it stays in the folder that i started in.

for instance just say i have 26 folders named a, b, c, ect. starting at "a" and holding down, it will scroll all the way to the z folder but still have the "a" folder in the window until i release the arrow key.

this is quite annoying because i use this to see if i missed anything alot of times. now i have to go 1 by 1 very slowly.

The only real issue I have so far is that when my MBP is docked to my 24" ACD and I let it go to sleep, when it wakes up it does not reinitialize my external USB harddisk, making the whole system go bananas until I either unplug/replug my USB or powercycle the drive. Very annoying.

But it is an improvement SL actually will go to sleep when on external power; L never did.

I did an upgrade from Leopard and I haven't had any issues at all. Everything seems snappy and fun and even the genie/dock animations are smooth again. It was embarrassing to use Tiger on a sawtooth and find the animations to be smoother than the ones on my 2.4 Macbook pro running 10.5 :(

Wait, there is one thing: there is a little bit of a slowdown when you eject a disk or empty the trash and try to move a window around really fast.

Clean install.

Have had quite a few issues plugging in my 23" Aluminum ACD to my early 2k8 MBP. Never had issues before in Leopard. Sometimes the 23" just stays blue, sometimes it flashes on and off, sometimes it works fine.

The only problem I had related to Snow Leopard was with Nikon's Capture NX2 software (not SL). Apparently Nikon issued an update to this software around the same time SL was released. If the Nikon software is updated prior to upgrading to SL, everything is fine. But if it's updated after SL is installed, it would not open NEF (Nikon's RAW) and JPG files. In other words, Nikon's installer did not work properly in SL.

When I learned of this, I erased my SL installation and re-cloned my hard drive from a (SuperDuper!) backup of Leopard 10.5.8, updated the Nikon software, and then a second upgrade to Snow Leopard. All is fine now with Capture NX2.

I did the simple upgrade both times without any problems with SL itself. The machine is noticeably faster, etc - all this it is advertised to be. As of yet, I haven't found anything to complain about with SL. More than worth the $30!!!

Oh nothing major:

Snow Leopard Wake Up Sleep

Only problem i have had is waking up from sleep.

I have a 30" Cinema Display connected through the the DL-DVI to Mini Display port adapter on my 24" iMac.
Of course that thing has always had issues even on Leopard. But now waking from sleep, the screen appears normal at first then switches resolutions. I think 800x600. The image of the screen is highly distorted, only covers about 70% of the monitor, and surrounded by a black border. Its weird. The ONLY way to fix it is to restart or shutdown.
Going to system preferences pane and changing the resolution of the display shows inaccurate Cinema Display resolutions, and changing resolutions only makes the problem worse and gives me a complete black screen.

Sometime i will try to get a video of it. I tried to do a screen grab, but it only saved a typical png file that looked like there wasnt anything wrong.

Macbook Pro upgraded install two issues so far.
When using "open with" scrolling through the apps locks up.
iTunes random frequent drop outs on playback.

iCal icon is stuck on August 28. If I open the application, it goes to the correct date, but when I close it, it changes back.

I did an upgrade on my iMac and MBP and am pretty pissed off with the results so far. I dunno how many times I've had apps crash. I mean I can't even get iPhoto to not crash, I imported a few pictures, wanted to touch them up and the stupid progam has crashed about a dozen times. Purely ridiculous.

I also do some graphic design and don't even get me started with PS CS4. Christ I have to save my work after every freaking layer I add just in case something happens.

I wasn't expecting much in terms of features etc (not the reason why I bought SL, I bought SL purely for performance gains), but Apple could have at least released SL in a decent working order. I am a software developer and I find it hard to believe that this thing even got passed UAT, let alone being released to the public. To not even be able to run native "Apple Programs" like iPhoto is absolutely ridiculous, I can understand 3rd party apps may not be fully compatible but this clearly isn't the case.

I know I'll get a bunch of "why don't you perform a clean install?" and as much as I would like to do that I have so much configurations and applications etc on both my Macs that it just isn't worth the hassle. Apple better freakin come out with some patches soon, going from Tiger to Leopard was a way better experience than this crap.

Two minor bugs I found within the first few minutes of using Snow Leopard:

1. Hot-keying a mouse button for Spaces no longer works, even though the settings are configured correctly in Control Panel. The mouse buttons do still work for Exposé.

2. Some displays like my 27" Dell aren't correctly identified as LCD displays, so Snow Leopard tries to apply crappy CRT text anti-aliasing.

I also ended up with doubles of most of my system fonts, and Snow Leopard didn't automatically clean this up, so I had to myself.

I know there are things like AdBlock that don't work, because they're still 32-bit and I'm running 64-bit Safari, but I don't consider that a bug.

Overall, Snow Leopard seems much less buggy than Leopard was on launch.

Bugs I found in the first 48 Hours

1. Safari crashed 2 times while refreshing a Flickr page and loading a Twitter page. Seems java related.
2. Dock disappeared once and never came back until I did a reboot.
3. Files are still getting locked when trying to empty the trash.

I use a Logitech MX518 mouse, I have mouse button 4 set to Show all Windows (exposé F9) and mouse button 5 set to show desktop (exposé F11).

Twice now button 5 has stopped functioning. I don't believe it is the mouse at fault as it is working fine in Leopard.

Hopefully an update will correct this, either that or I will wait for a new version of USBOverdrive.

Anyone else experience something similar?

Yep. I have a Logitech MX900, and mouse button 5 doesn't work if I set it to Spaces (which worked fine in Leopard). It does work if I switch it to Exposé "show all windows".

LogMeIn and Firefox and Word 08

I did the upgrade and I haven't seen a few issues with my IMac and MacBook Pro. I am not able to remote desktop my IMac with LogMeIn. Also when I use the VNC app on my IPhone 3G I get connected but what is being displayed is only a little bit of the desktop. Also not sure what happened last night but I was doing some school work I was using google in firefox and typing in word and my computer froze up. I couldn't force quite Firefox or word. So unfortunately I lost all the work that I typed. Apparently I got a lot done before the 10 min auto recover save and it never saved the file so I lost all my work. :( So I changed it to one min after I restarted. I attached a screen shot of what my VNC app is doing. It is random sometimes it loads part of the screen. Sometimes it all white and sometimes it is all black. Hopefully they will get this fixed soon.

1. Firefox 3.5.2 is SLOW to open, but is fine once it's running. Contrast that with Safari, which opens instantly.

2. Whenever I reboot, my volume always reverts back to a low level, regardless of if I increase it to full volume before shutdown.

3. Still have trouble changing program icons for apps like Mail, Address Book, etc. without third party apps.

I did a clean install (like I've done with every new OS release) and I've had no new problems with Snow Leopard. There are still two bugs that I can't believe were not fixed with Snow Leopard that have been around for a while:

1. Inconsistent Finder windows!!!!1!! - Nothing annoys me more than getting my Finder window the way I like, clicking "Use as defaults", and then it not actually being used as defaults. There is one folder that I like having in cover flow. When I change it to cover flow, it then makes any other Finder window be in cover flow... stupid OS. It's sad to say that this is one thing that Windows XP does better than Mac OS X.

2. Mail won't hide - I have Mail set to open when I log into my account. I have the checkbox selected that says "Hide", but whenever I log in, it is visible. It does not hide from me like I want it to. This bug has been there at least since the beginning of Leopard (really when I started using it this way).

So far SL has been excellent. There have been a couple of bugs I've spotted but nothing annoying or major.

Photoshop CS4 crashes everytime that I use it since installing Snow Leopard. I'm probably going to have to restore my system and install Leopard until Apple figures this problem out.

I'm having the exact same problem with CS4. I'm probably going to restore my system (UGH!!!) and go back to Leopard until Apple admits that there is a problem and resolves it.

Mac Pro1,1 (April 2007) 2.66 with 10Gig of Ram was slow and sluggish compared to what it was under Leopard. Tried both upgrade and clean install to no avail. Reverted back to Leopard.

Did you have to restore your system to revert back to Leopard? I am thinking of doing the same thing.
