I lowkey love the design, idk why, but why make it thinner when the camera hump is going to be bigger.

Say they have new battery tech that'll give this thinner phone the same life/better life than the 6S, if they kept it even thicker, we'd get even more battery life and a less intrusive camera bump and we'd all win.

Apple need to drop this "thinner=better" schtick, it's annoying and no where near true. If the iPhone 6S is too thick for you, then you need to evaluate your life and choices.

This is just ignorant as you can possibly get. It's not just a matter of size but it's the matter of physics and optics.
Physics says smartphones can never surpass tablets, tablets can't surpass laptops and laptops can't surpass desktops. Which will never be as powerful as mainframes. Who do you know still using a computer as big as a whole room? The progress of technology changes the size of the best devices. We already have 12mpx, 4K video, 240fps slow motion, OIS, Live Photos. Is it so hard to believe that DSLRs will once have no decisive advantages anymore?

The potential addition of a smart connector is very intriguing. Might we finally get split screen multitasking?

I'm not bothered by the idea of the dual camera looking that way. Looks perfectly fine to me.

I don't quite get the smart connector...maybe it will make more sense in the future. I guess a dock would be a lot nicer since you don't have to mess with the plug, but the dock wouldn't work with an iPad because of the placement (iPad's is on the edge, phone one is on the back.

First of all apple needs to move on from the current design. It looks way too similar to the current phones. Second, if the dual lens looks anything remote to that (doubt it) ill stick with the regular camera plus model.

All the leaks so far make it seems it will be a very similar design

Why would it have a smart connector, let alone the connector placed in that location?

After making it even thinner than iP6 everyone will be using Apple smart connector battery case. (making it fatter than original PS3...) But hey, it's kind of thinner than any previous iPhone... Johnny is a gift that keeps on giving. When everyone asks for more battery life he gives super thin phone with smart connector for battery case.

The camera hump lives on.... Honestly, the S7 looks very appealing right now if only from a hardware perspective...
I received m7 S7 Edge on the 11th, after 9 years with iPhones (from original -> 4 -> 5s).

My only problem, coming from the 5s, is the size. The rest of it is fantastic! Great camera, great battery life and love being able to customise it. Don't have the same re-assurance that apps downloaded from Google Play are malware-free that I had with the Apple App Store, but just have to be careful. It did reboot today though for no reason! Charges really quickly and easily lasts all day.

Love the ability to overlay videos/apps on the screen with other things running, as well as split-view. Widgets are fantastic - I have a screen showing me unread WhatsApp messages, latest emails, steps walked, weather etc.

Miss the synchronisation with my Macbook Air/iMac though and miss Safari too. Can't find a way of synchronising bookmarks with the built-in browser - don't want to use Chrome as it doesn't support ad-blockers but the built in one does. Really miss swipe to go back/forward through the browser history, seems so obvious but haven't found one that supports it yet.

Installed Twilight, so I've got "Night Shift" already.

I'll see if the iPhone 7 can tempt me back. Slightly sad that after 9 years I've left but here's hoping Apple make something better than a re-hashed 6s/6sPlus. iOS needs to be vastly more flexible in order for me to return.

iPhone's 12 mpx isn't the same as SLR's 12 mpx. SLRs have sensors several times bigger than the ones found in iPhone 6s, or other smartphones.

You can shrink die size, you can shrink transistor size, you can even make 3D stacked memory but optics and physics play a significant role in photography. Shallow depth of field cannot even be achieved with such small sensors comparable to larger sensors and yes it has everything to do with one's artistic style when used correctly. I'm not saying it's not possible, it's just improbable to compete with a full sized 35mm sensor - hell, even a 1" sensor. Unless you use software tricks to get the effect you want, however.

It will get close as you can get to anything less than 1" but don't expect any artistic options with such limited sensor sizes and optics. Photography isn't about just being able to take a photograph anywhere you are at any time. It's more or less a photographer's expression. Or else we'd have all these point and shoot images that all look identical - which we do currently with all these camera phones.

It's not about being a camera snob either. There are specific uses for larger sensors and being able to use different lenses. These are requirements are dependant on the type of application.

I kinda like it.

That said, WHO IS ASKING FOR THINNER PHONES??? Is it too much to ask for a phone to lie flat when you put it down?

i would think that the ring around the camera would be a separate piece of metal like the iphone 6, instead of the casing formed around it

I'm waiting for the day that the iPhone is so thin, that you can see an outline of the various parts inside the phone slightly sticking out :p

The thinness/protruding lens doesn't bother me nearly enough to make a big deal out of it, but I do think that it's a bit pointless to continue decreasing the phone's thickness if parts have to stick out. It's only as thin as it's thickest part.

The only thing I can come up with why the iPhone 7 needs to be thinner is that the screen will get even bigger.
It would make it a little easier to reach the corners of the screen or the other side of the screen.
Together with the leaks of a design without a homebutton this is intriguing.

Could we get smaller devices? Could they cram the 4.7 inch in a smaller footprint? Could they cram a 5.0 inch in the footprint of a 4.7 iPhone 6/s? And a 5.8 inch in the footprint of a iPhone 6+?

The fact that everyone is calling it ugly means it's real. Remember when the first pictures of iPhone 6 came out with those antenna bands and everybody was like "There is no way that is the next iPhone!"

It's only March, though, so it would be surprising to me to have real photos of the next iPhone. But we got pictures of iPhone 6 pretty early that turned out to be correct.
It could be one of the several prototypes hanging around... Especially the camera lens appears to be quite unfinished to me
