I've used mine for 3 weeks. There is some black coating wearing off on the pointed corners, near the stdby and headphone jack. It looks like they painted/coated the clear air jacket. You can see thru the plastic where the coat is coming off. Its not that bad yet, but I emailed PS cust service to see what they consider normal wear and tear. Only put in pants pocket, no other items to bump into.
Like I said, its not to bad yet, the back area is completely solid still. But those pointed corners are losing coating.

On the other hand, the clear Air Jacket is doing good after 3 weeks as well. Just some few scratches at the back which are hardly noticeable against the white iPhone. Sometimes dust may come in but thanks for the stickers I could easily remove the case and wipe them off. Constant use in the pocket - pull back and fort, and placed on the desk.

i really wanted to love the air jacket...but if the matte black just flakes off after a very short time period, then i'll have to wait until they fix that li'l problem. i currently have the Incase Protective Cover...and yes it is a bit bulky and gets stuck in my pocket. however, it does cover virtually every square inch that needs to be protected...and i'm pretty sure it'll bounce at least a little bit if dropped.

what i really want is one of those skins made from military grade gobbidy-goo but i don't want the areas of the corners exposed. why can't one of these case or skin manufacturers make a skin that is already contoured to the iphone 3g shape like some of these hard cases? and if there is one in existence...tell me where to find it.

I've had the black for about a month now and no flaking.

Same here... i noticed my headphone jack corner tip is wearing off a bit too. Any reply from PS on a replacement? Other than that, agreed that back is solid... offers the protection 'I' need.

PS is sending me a new black

I sent PS CS some pics of the corner wear near my standby button and they agreed it isnt normal. They said they would send a new one. I think if they used a black base plastic instead of the clear, it would be less noticable when it wears. I mentioned that to them too.

i finally broke down and got the air jacket...it looks and feels pretty amazing. one thing that i've noticed is that it ironically is a fingerprint magnet...unless it's just my naturally greasy pizza fingers.

i am going to try modifying mine a bit by putting some thin rubber adhesive strips on the inside for some shock absorption. i got this idea from 1) the incase slider case that everybody is so horny over, since they just have two little rubber strips in it and states it can help with dropping. 2) there seems to be just a little play in the air jacket which should give me just enough room for said rubber.

SGP Ultrathin Case

I bought the SGP Ultrathin Case from sgpstore.com and believe me, it is the best case ever. I returned my power support air jacket case, and totally love this case.

I don't know what happened to a post that was here recently, that reviewed the SGP Ultrathin Case. Some mod must have removed it. Here was the link.

Yeah i am not sure what is up with the SGP case threads but i am not trying to spam anything here, i did buy one and it is very nice. If anyone wants to see pics or has questions i can share my findings.

Yes, post pics please! Does the paint chip off easily? Does it scratch easily?

I got this case to replace my Griffin Nu Form, and I really like it. I've only had it for a few days, but it's pretty sweet. I'd probably still use the Nu Form if I was going camping or something, but the Air Jacket is great for day to day use. I love actually being able to enjoy the feel and design of the phone I spent way too much money on. :D

The paint does not chip off the SGP Ultrathin case. It's way more attractive than the powerjacket, and I have not had a single scratch on it, yet. It's awesome.

I don't have any pics yet, but trust me, it's really cool! The SGP thread that had the pics were taken out by mods.

its not painted at all but colored plastic. trust me if you wanted an air jacket, this is only 12.99 and much better. i'll try and get, pics up later.

i've got black airjacket and one of corners is peeling off.
I like the feeling and the grip of this, and there is no scratches for the back but peeling on the corner..

switch to SGP case instead. I did

I posted earlier about my corners rubbing off my air jacket. It only got worse. Shame since the back and sides are perfect.

I purchased a silver SGP case (on white phone), and it is actually very tight fitting and very tacky. From my tests, it does not use a coating but is actually the plastic surface material in a matte tacky finish. At least as tacky as the black air jacket.

I think the SGP case will last a lot longer. Doesnt seem to scratch easily either.

did anyone have any luck trying to contact power support about the flaking? I just bought mine today, and already there is some flaking going on in the corner.. lol

PS promised a replacement, still waiting

PS did tell me the corner wear was not normal, and they would send me a replacement. That was 2 weeks ago. I followed up by email, but no reply. Perhaps they are working on an improvement.

SGP case does have a coating, i notice some corner wear but you hardly notice it. I'm just not sure over time it will hold up.

i got this case about a month ago, and after owning numberous other cases, this one is by far my favorite. i got the matte black, and its showing no signs of wear, and i have dropped my phone from about 5ft on concrete twice, and the case protected my phone well, with minimal scratches on the case (hardly noticable)

pros:
-super slim (no added bulk, 1mm)
-easier to hold onto
-easy access to most buttons
-looks extremely clean and nice
-comes with 2 screen protectors
-VERY easy to install and remove

cons:
-does not protect the front edges of metal brim
-the vibrate/silent button is sometimes hard to change

overall, its by far my favorite case, i love it, definitely a keeper =]

does anyone know where to buy the white case?

i saw the white case on the japanese website, but i'm not sure if the u.s. will be carrying it. anyone know a way to buy one?

Yeah I don't see it either on the U.S. store, hopefully they'll release it soon cause I got the clear one for my white iPhone. That white one could fit as well.
