This could be REALLY easily faked. A screenshot of an HTML page hardly constitutes proof. In addition, you can create any 1x1 pixel transparent gif you want by changing the name of the link:

http://switch.atdmt.com/action/apple_g5_elephant

You'll notice if you do a select all on that page you'll see a tiny dot in the upper left - that is the pixel gif. If you get properties on it you'll see it is called: apple_g5_elephant.gif

You can do it for any name.

Anyone remember...

... that website balls-up that preceded the G5 launch? History repeating itself?

Actually, I saw it live on their site earlier today - it was definitely there and has now been changed.

One day apple will finally have out the G5 powerbook, if they want to. I don't think the G5 offers benefits that a much less wattage freescale G4 couldn't produce.

Except a 64 bit based laptop. I've been waiting on this one for a while. If they can come out with a 15" model for under $2000 I'm buying one. If not i'll wait.

Besides when they announce it will take 4-5 months before they are even actually available. I don't know why people bitch about Apple not giving a road map. All you have to do is consider announcements the roadmap since the actuall ability to buy is far in the future (99% of the time).

Apple will announce the G5 PB in mid-Feb after the SuperBowl marketing blitz, where they'll produce a 20+ year anniversary commercial that far outweighs them all. They will build momentum by spending millions on commercial spots on SuperBowl Sunday, then "release" that following Tuesday with a shipping date of early/mid March.

The highlight will be the much anticipated "Apple in the Middle:
15" G5 PB 2.0GHZ, 100GB 7200 RPM HD, 8X Dual Super, BT 2.0, 512 RAM 1 SO-DIMM, OS X 10.4 Tiger pre-release.

(man I overslept. Gotta go to work)

Yah I think I'm 100% certain now that I'm going to hold off getting any Mac until WWDC. I could get a mini now but I'd be kicking myself if Apple came out with a G5 PowerBook midyear. Here's hoping its true.

Now bring on all the "expert" naysayer

Doubtful. I thought I read somewhere on Mac rumors a site on the net that lists all the commercials for the Super Bowl didn't have Apple listed in any of the slots.

Sweet! I cannot wait until the G5 powerbooks come out. This has been a great year so far. I mean the Shuffle and Mini and now this. This also leads me to believe that Tiger is coming soon because wouldn't they want to have the new Powerbooks come pre-loaded it.

I'll buy whatever they release, but boy would it be nice if it was a sparkly new G5 PB. Mmm mmmmm. :)

For me, a G5 powerbook would not get passed by.
I would not even bat an eye at a G4 Upgrade. The ones I have will hold me until a G5 comes along.... even if it's another year off. The way I see it, the only reason for someone to by any Apple powerbook is... one, they don't have one at all... two, they make G5's.

Why isn't this in the page 2? Do you really think this is a hint of a PB G5 coming soon?

At least the 'evidence' that is being used is real and not just pure speculation. It could well be a simple mistake; but u gotta admit there are a lot of mistakes, rumors, statements etc that are pointing to the G5 PowerBook.

Thats why these forums have been in full on geek mode since just before MWSF :D
