Seems like I'll never be able to find the perfect air jacket. The camera cutout on both of the rubber black air jackets that I've received from Power Support touches the protruding camera on the 6 Plus. Anyone else have this problem with any of the air jackets from Power Support?

my clear matte creaks and touches the top of the camera

the replacement rubber black which they sent me creaks even more and also touches the camera

I have both the 'force' version and the regular version in matte clear.

1. The lip on the 'force' version is too much. It makes the entire case feel so much larger than the regular version. And because the sides go straight up instead of curving around the phone, it sort of causes the phone to lose it's form. (who puts their phone screen down anyway)

2. Removal of the 'force' version was a pain in the butt. Even following the video, I've got blisters on my thumb trying to pop the second bottom corner out. I haven't tried removing the regular version and I probably won't for some time.

3. Both versions have different textures!! The 'Force' version is silky smooth, the regular version has texture that's slightly rougher and almost like cardboard. I prefer the regular version. It is much more grippy too.

4. I can't be happier switching to the regular version. Using it paired with a cheap 'edge to edge' screen protector keeps the front flushed with the sides.

5. There is a huge quality control problem. The 'force' version I received came scratched up badly on the inner surface. The regular version has several blemishes around the case, tiny scratches on the outer surface and a significantly protruding line that runs along one side of the case, where the top half and bottom have are combined.

6. All that being said, I'll still be keeping the regular version. The fit is absolutely perfect and feels amazing in the hand. I've had these since iPhone 4 and they do provide good drop protection. A little more quality control would be better but the slight cosmetic flaws aren't deal breakers. I'll see how it holds up with yellowing over time and how much dust it collects.

edit* 7. My regular version creaks slightly at the bottom when i push it back. It's slightly annoying right now but i'll probably forget about it in a couple days. The 'Force' version was creaking along the sides which stood out way more.

My son just bought the Force version from the Apple Store for his 6 plus and it fits like a glove and does not touch the camera. I want this case but without the Lip. Also very impressed with the reviews for the Caudabe Veil, it now protects the camera lens. Obviously it would not compare to the AJ for drop protection, but it is a very thin good looking case that will help protect from scratches on the back, would be easy to remove for cleaning or when you want to go nekid :) and it is half the price!

What do you think?

I purchased the Air Jacket Force from the Apple store as well but returned it because I didn't like the lip. I've been considering the Caudade Veil now that there's a new camera cutout. Had one on my 5s for around 8 months and didn't have any noticeable scratches on the bottom chamfered edge.

I think I may get this in Frost. I have the Spigen Air Jacket which I really like, but my only complaint would be the protruding lens that touches the table. This would fix the issue. Thanks for the link!

Phone snaps in pretty easily, not particularly hard at all. I've been using the Black Rubber one on my 6 for quite a number of weeks now and really love it. It does however have a few little creaks here and there when i give it a loving squeeze but otherwise it's a solid case. I've had the Force version Clear before this and preferred the non-force due to it's smaller lip and less bulky-ness

I've taken off the case a few times now and have not noticed any scratches on the back/sides of my space grey 6.

Hope that helps.

Easy to snap in. I've taken it off 3-4 times and haven't gotten any scratches (and I have Space Gray). No evidence that any lint/dust has caused damage. I have some around the lip but none any further inside.

thanks, ive got a clear non force one being delivered monday

The first thing I did after I read your post was to check my camera, and it doesn't.

Rubber black or Smoke for space grey 6 plus? Really struggling here, my son just returned his rubber black and got smoke...looks amazing but I can already see dust build up if you look closely, also think the smoke or clear would start looking bad as scratches build up. Leaning rubber black but dang the smoke looks hot on the SG.

It will either be the PS AJ non force version

Or

Apple Leather case and when I want to go super thin, the Caudabe Veil

LOL, you mention the 3 cases that I went with!
The leather looks and feels great.
The Veil is really thin
The PS rubber black is my favorite so far.

Jon,

Is the Veil worth getting?
Does the AJ show scratches, marks? Are finger prints an issue?
How much thicker is the leather over the AJ?
Do you have the original or force AJ?

Thanks

No problem!
Veil: to be honest, I bought this to tweak a different case. I have a SurfacePad (twelve south) that I use for travel, but I do not like the stick-on attachment system. So I stuck the Veil on to make it a snap in case.

AJ: Just measured the thickness. The leather averages 1.5 mm and the AJ is 1.2mm. So closer than you might think! The feel of the rubber AJ is very nice. Occasional fingerprint, but these wipe off with screen cleaner--no problem at all. No scratches yet anyway.

I have the AJ from PS, not the Force version. After reading the reviews, I did not really want a lip, so went with the AJ directly from PS.

I have all 3 of these as well. I prefer the Apple case over the other 2. I like the feel and look of leather as opposed to plastic on my phone. The leather has gotten very soft and feels amazing in my hand. Also I don't case my phone all the time so the PSAJ was not practical for me as it's a pain to take on and off. The clear I had was also very slippery and I'm very weary of hard plastic cases. They've scratched up my phones in the past with dirt and dust getting in them but I wanted to try it out nontheless. Sent it back. I feel more comfortable with the interior of the leather case as it has a suede lining and leather on the sides not to scratch up the phone instead of hard plastic rubbing up against my phone. The Caudabe is obviously very thin which I love but is super slippery and the frost made my silver iPhone look washed out color wise. Wasn't feeling the aesthetics of it and again the scratching issues. I've read several posts of this happening to others using the Caudabe in the past.

just got my non force clear one in the mail for my space gray 6.

convince me its safe to put on and that i will not scratch the phone installing or taking it off, or that lint that gets in there wont scratch the phone...

Thank you - Jon and Ringside

Your posts were exactly what I was looking for. I will be going for the Apple Leather case in black for my upcoming (2 more weeks) 6+ 64 in SG:D

Cool, I don't think you'll be disappointed. The other 2 cases have their appeal and some people love them, I get it. I've also tried out several other cases and still the leather always trumped them each and every time. It fits my needs perfectly. Beyond the quality, I also really like the easy on and off of the Apple case. I'm certain the other 2 would break fairly soon after taking it off a few times. The Veil is so thin and the AJ is so tight and rigid. Anyways enjoy! Also give the leather a few weeks to break in. Gets real nice and soft after a bit. Cheers......

installed my clear non force version on my gray 6...love it, fit is perfect with no creaks and it doesnt rub on the camera. wasnt too hard to snap in, but havent tried to remove it.

looks sexy as hell for a piece of tech/plastic.

Caudabe Veil vs. Air Jacket (non Force version)

I currently have the original Non Force AirJacket direct from their website in both Clear And Smoke. I chose them because I didn't like the thicker Apple Store version.

But now looking at the Caudabe Veil above online I'm curious:

1) How much thinner is it compared to the Air Jacket?

2) Is there a significant difference that affects the weight and feel?

I want the most minimal case. I like to be as close to the dimensions of a naked iPhone. Any recommendations?

I love the texture (feel) of the clear matte Air Jacket Force. I can only describe it as a super soft rubbery-ish hard plastic?

I'm interested in the original PSAJ which I may order direct and return the Force due to the lip, but before I do so can anyone tell me if all the colors are made of the same material and have the same feel?

I would assume that the clear and smoke versions have more of a
"glassy" plastic texture?

Thanks!

I've used both and there's no noticeable difference in material or texture. The clear and smoke have a glossy texture that's somewhat slippery.

So just took my clear AJ (non force) version off for the first time, following PS's instructions. Man what a PITA, but thank god no damage was done to the phone in the process.

But curious observation I've never noticed on any other PS AJ I've had - After cleaning the AJ I noticed it has a lot of tiny marks all over it on the inside, almost like super mini abrasions from the phone rubbing the plastic (there was no lint in the back as the case fits very tight and was only on the phone for four days, only lint was around the very edges). I know this is on the inside of the case because where the lower antennae band is there was actually a little outline of the antennae band where there were no marks. Anyone else have this? I'm assuming it's just because the case is super tight and because the machined aluminum on the phone isn't truly 100% smooth, coupled witht the fact this AJ is a little softer than the usual AJs to be more flexible.

Here is a pic, you can see all the little marks mainly above the center light point on the case. Anyone else? Not a big deal, just curious.

Why not order directly from Power Support and get the lip free version? I've ordered a couple. Shipping is super fast (at least to Colorado).

I have a clear non-force version for 6+ available for sale if anyone is interested - if so, PM me.

I got the clear one direct from PS, put it on the phone and immediately took it off because it had no/not enough lip for my preference. Got the force version from Apple specifically for more lip, and I love everything about it except that gets dust underneath it.
