ok im lost, i hear everyone talking about steps after 6, maybe this was before the update that lessened the steps. i did all 6 steps and am now in putty put in the name and password and it has a # sign.
now what do i do from that point? what do i type? im lost

I believe the latest version of touchfree (from touchfree3.zip) does the steps after 6 automatically for you. If you got past step 6, you should be jailbroken. You can now install more apps, if you wish, through the Installer program on your touch, or install the iphone applications (maps, mail, etc.). You will need to do this using SFTP.

Start up Winscp. Enter in your touch's ip address, and root/alpine for the username/password. You should get a windows explorer like interface that will allow you to browse the directories on your touch. Navigate to /Applications on your touch. You should be able to drag and drop (or cut and paste) the iphone applications from whatever folder they are in on your computer. You will also need to copy the stuff from the System folder to /System on your touch in order to run maps and mail. Finally you need to execute

/bin/chmod -Rf +x /Applications/
/bin/chmod -R a+x /Applications/*

in the SSH session. This will make the applications you just added executable. You may get an error like GLOB6: not found on one of these commmands. As long as at least 1 executes successfully you will be ok.

how can u tell ur touch is jailbreaked??? and how do u put the iphone features on ur touch??

Ok ive posted everywhere about my problem and no luck so far so here it goes.

I'm still getting the problem when I start up touchfree.exe that the dropbear dss key or whatever could not be generated. It said "Reason: exists". I've tried running touchfree as administrator like one person said to do but it still doesn't work. Any tips? Thanks

i succesfully jailbreaked it, but should there be a installer app on the springboard? cause i jsut go tmy reguler touch apps, and how do i get apps on here now? where do i get apps from? such as nes, ttr, mail,im,notes, stocks, weather, maps, plz help!!!!!!!!

Omg, i've tried this on my iPod Touch, but when i go to open music/videos/wifi store it crashes! Itunes recognises it as an iphone?, but then says my iphone doesn't have neccesary drivers installed! But it's an Ipod Touch!!

Please help as i need it for tomorrow!! Ahh!

OK ...

I've done EVERYTHING listed ...

My Ipod has Installer on the springboard ... I've copied some Iphone apps using winscp (There was only the app files ... nothing for the system folder as mentioned) and I've run the chmod commands in putty.

Installer works fine, no Iphone apps though, and no itune syncronization ... what am I doing wrong...

EDIT: Itunes syncs fine .... just doesn't automatically open when I plug in the Touch.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT:
When the files copyied in ... they did not have the .app extension ... I renamed them then re-chmod'd and the apps are now there ....

MAIL and MAPS just boot me back out though .... NOW what am I missing.

Looks like we're missing 2 files in the torrent that are needed.

GMM.framework and MobileMail.bundle for the system folder ... anyone wanna donate these?

woo hoo, im so glad i finally go this to work and that i had like 1000 nes roms from my xbox already so if anyone is looking for a certain rom, let me know
