Question: If I preorder from the Apple Online store and have it shipped to my house, how will they know whether to charge me the upgrade price? I am eligible for the early upgrade price, but how does it work if you order from Apple?

When you are upgrading at a Apple Store or the online Store, you give your phone number and they are able to check your upgrade eligibility from AT&T.

I've already told my boss on the 15th I'm going to have to leave or be late depending on when the store opens on that Tuesday to pre-order my 32G White IPhone 4 :)

Dude, you understand 15th is only for pre-ordering. It doesn't take too much time to do that. You can do that online.

You want to call sick (or leave early) on 24th, that's when you can actually get your phone.

Good point. Luckily I'm on vacation. Speaking of which, if I pre-order from the Apple online store on the 15th but I'm away on the 24th, can I get Apple to deliver it to the hotel you think?

If he is wanting to pre-order with delivery to the store, then the date will be the 25th according to the press release issued by ATT.

Home Delivery (via ATT): 24th
In-Store Pickup (via ATT): 25th

Apple.com and Store: 24th on both options

Where's the reserve option?

Their systems connect w/ AT&T.

Thanks, but I'm a dudette....I understand that the 15th is for pre-orders, I'm not that big of a dumb blonde. However if you pre-order online with ATT you cannot pick up your phone in store until the 25th (it's in the media release and the moderator's faq's on this whole thing). Apple store is not an option as it is 2 hours away. I just wasn't sure if there was a mad rush to pre-order but doesn't matter now that I know what a reserve is I am pre-ordering with home delivery (or work) :)

Qestion:

If your eligible for an upgrade and you want to reserve online with Apple, how will they charge you the correct pricing plan?

Do they somehow know your ATT info?

I would think you would have to do this all through ATT.

(funny,i think I went through this whole thing years ago....limited memory  )

See my post 2 above yours.

never owned an iphone before but have been dying to get one since the day the first came out. most likely i will be working till about 4 so I will probably pre-order and pick it up at the apple store after i get off :) cannot wait!

As a smartphone addict :))) I have lines with Verizon and AT&T. In my area they both have excellent service & call quality. I've had two iPhone 3G's and two iPhone 3GS's. Although I have an Apple Store just a mile from home, experience has taught me that buying from AT&T is the fastest. I Pre ordered & picked up my 3G's on day 1 from the Apple Store. That was a terrible experience as they had problems with activation and sent me to AT&T. When the 3GS was released I ordered from AT&T, I picked it up on the same day as the Apple Stores were delivering theirs. AT&T had extra staffing, the line moved non stop, and I was out with a working phone in less than 20 minutes. What a great experience.

I think many people go to the Apple store thinking it's the best way. Little do they realize that even though their system talks to AT&T, they can't fix problems.

Okay so I got a text that says this "As a valued customer, we can offer you an upgrade with a new 2-yr commitment and an $18 upgrade fee." am I set to go for the new iPhones cheaper pricing? And they can't change this on me can they? My old date for a early upgrade with discount was June 20th.

Reserve or Pre-Order?

What is the difference between reserve and pre-order? I just want to have the phone on the 24th, preferrable without waiting in any lines. What should I do?

I have a FAN discount and special website through my company (individually responsible) where we can upgrade phones, calling/data plans, etc. The URL is something along the lines of wireless.att.com/business. I am already verified and have been getting my FAN discount for 18 months or so now.

On June 15, when pre-ordering opens...will I be able to order my iPhone 4 at a discount on the business site, or is it only offered on the regular AT&T or Apple sites? Will I be able to receive a discount on the new iPhone?

Right now when I log in it shows I can upgrade to a 16GB 3GS for $149. Does this mean, on June 15, I can preorder the new iPhone 4 for $149, as well?

Thanks in advance!

ETA - NEVERMIND! I realized they must have already changed the website prices to correspond to the new 3GS prices. I don't think we get iPhone discounts. Oh well! If this is the case...does it matter if I order on the business site (since I have a FAN discount) or the regular AT&T or Apple site?

They're the same thing just different wording. You're going to wait in line, if there is one, even though you're pre-ordered an iPhone. The thing is that you don't have to worry about stock because yours is already being held. You could also preorder and just have them deliver to your home or work on the 24th. You can't lose with either option.

Not true. Pre-order means it will either be shipped to your home on the 24th or to an AT&T store for pickup at a date on or after the 25th. You enter your credit card info at the time of the pre-order, you are charged on the day it ships.

Reserve means you are simply asking the store to hold one for you. There is no entry of a credit card. This is what I did @ Apple last year. I don't know if AT&T does reserves.

Thank you Geckotek. I have been trying to figure that out. I am trying to call the ATT store and get that answer if they even know anything at the one near where I work.

Peeps who have pre-ordered prior to this one, what time does the website start to take pre-orders generally? 8am pacific? Midnight on 06/15 Pacific? (as you can tell, I am west coast biased haha)

Also Black 32gig is my choice, though the look of the white has me intrigued for once.

I stand corrected.

Thanks, Geckotek, I sat on hold with Apple for an hour last night til my phone finally died. Sounds like I will be pre-ordering a 32GB Black to be delivered to my house. Thanks again.

ATT Reserve

I finally got a hold of someone in the ATT store 2 minutes from my work and he was laughing and said i'm the millionth person to call and ask this. There is no way to pick up your phone in the ATT Store before June 25th without standing in line on the 24th with no pre-order. Word of mouth from the ATT Store in Wilmington, NC. Soo looks like I'm going to pre-order and have delivered to my office :)

I wonder will both Apple & AT&T allow you to preorder the Bumper as well for delivery with the iPhone on the 24th. I would think so, but that's just an assumption on my part and I could be wrong.

I think you can throw in accessories w/ the pre-order.
