Siri is awesome. Must depend what you want to do with it perhaps. Directions, playing music, connecting/disconnecting speakers, timers, note, even playing pandora. No issues.
If you want fart sounds, I agree go google-they cornered the market

Honestly the only problem I have with it is Siri on the homepods controlling homekit things. All the other stuff works fine.

In Germany earliest delivery date if 13th of January although it was ordered
on the 6th of November :-(

They're just underproducing them... That way you'll think that the product is super popular when in reality IT IS NOT!
No, it's just priced much better than the original HomePod with most of the same features in addition to some new ones. The sound won't be as good but for $99.99 it's pretty much convinced a lot of people to finally get a HomePod.

Also people buying multiples. I got two to fill in some spare rooms where I can't justify spending $200/300 but $99 isn't as big of a hit. Ordered 10 minutes after launch and still got a launch day shipping :)

Will probably get some more down the line when/if they drop to ~$70 or $80 on sale.

I ordered mine a couple of hours after the pre-order in SG and it shows Nov 18-20. I'm sure it'll come earlier. It was more of an impulse purchase, which is what Apple probably wants.

Do you guys think this will survive shower moisture if I put it in my restroom?

Yeah sometimes Siri works very well, but there’s a lot of times it says “hmmm” and “just a sec” or it can’t find it all together. I got a HomePod mini anyway though for my bedroom and have 1 HomePod in the bathroom and 1 in the living room.
I've run into that as well with simple commands to set a timer. Doesn't every Siri hit require processing on Apple's servers before an action can be taken locally? That being the case, I blame Apple's Siri server farm more than I blame my local network or ISP.

If they have shipping estimates on ORDERS into december, they are both taking cash and continuing to produce them, with a backlog. You didn't really think that through, did you?

I absolutely thought that through. My response was for the guy who thinks Apple doesn’t produce enough so the products seems more popular than it really is. Which is just ridiculous.

I preordered one and it’s still showing between the 17th and 19th by standard for space gray; not in a rush, though. I liked having a Google Home Mini around but the sound wasn’t all that great and I foolishly would prefer Siri to be listening to me as opposed to Google Assistant. Just something to tell me the time, set a timer, tell me the temperature, and maybe play a couple of songs.

It would be nice if Siri was more competent, however.

Not necessarily.

I'd understand if Apple didn't mass produce these to match the expected volume as the competition of this market segment considering their internal evaluation and more profoundly the consumer consideration as yours being negative about Siri not being able to compete. IF .. IF this is the case then Apple underestimated the market segment demand for a quality low end speaker of $99US and how many kids would LOVE this (and can afford this on their own paycheques) in their room/dorm room/bachelor pad.

I own two Homepods and they sound great, really. But Siri is just not good enough. If you thought Siri was bad on your iPhone or Mac it's worse on the Homepod in some aspects and better in others.

She hears you more clearly, that's great.
She takes longer to interact with your home devices that were added to Homekit on your iPhone though. Lights? forget about it.

I can't count the number of times I've said "turn the lights on" for my Homepod to respond "hmm.." "hmm.." "I'm sorry that device isn't responding" or even "You don't have any lights setup" lol but I can go to my phone, hey siri, turn the lights on and boom they're on.

The consistency of the assistant software between the different devices Siri is available on is insane. I can literally say to our Amazon Echo "Alexa turn the lights on" and she does it even faster than Siri on my iPhone that has the lights added right there on device.

So yeah, I love my Homepods for sound quality but Siri is just terrrrrible. So I'm really confused as to why people would want a Homepod Mini unless you've never tried a Homepod before because it doesn't have the sound quality of the big Homepod but has the same bad Siri.

Last thing I wanted to say is I do love my Homepod, for its audio quality. And that's all sadly.

I have to admit experiencing the "hmm.." Siri reply back in HomePod OS 13.x ... the Siri response for ... "I'm sorry that device isn't responding" is because my HomeKit Lights (and hub) is on a 2.4GHz network I've setup and my HomePod being on 5Ghz or my iPhone when I make the request. When I switch my iphone to the same network band = voila it works. Unsure if this is your symptom in your case.

No ... Siri on HomeKit or HomePod ESPECIALLY can actually identify my own voice separately from my girlfriends on HomeKit and same network. She cannot access my private messages and I don't have to sign in to get messages read for me. I'm hoping this will transition within an iOS update very soon.

I'm looking forward to having ask 'what time is it?' 'when will the next Raptors game start' or 'find me the shortest route to work on bicycle' and I get the answer ... without invoking 'hey siri'.

I have them all on the same frequency here, 5GHz 802.11ac. She's incredibly inconsistent for me but I already went over it a few times I think people understand my problems enough haha

That matches up with the phone delivery dates. I'm in the US and I ordered a HomePod mini at the same time as I pre-odered my phone but instead of Nov 13th delivery as I expected it is has now moved into next week.

I've always wanted to set up in-room audio in all rooms that we frequent as a family. We do already have a couple HomePods but I didn't want to spend that much for the other rooms. This mini is perfect for getting music and Siri elsewhere. Apple could use a promotion like: buy four get the fifth free.

Ordered the HomePod mini (white) at Best Buy. Ship date: November 16th. Hopefully shipment doesn’t get delayed. If I’m impressed, I’ll invest in 3 more :)

I hear you. And I’m someone who hasn’t had a HomePod - and I bought a mini. The main reason is its $100. I wasn’t willing to try a $300 device to test it out. I’ve been tempted at $199, but figured this was a way to test out the experience. If Siri is acceptable to me, then I may expand my HomePod setup.

I don’t have lights to turn on or anything. But I do have a Bose Bluetooth speaker and while it sounds good, it is kind of a nightmare to pair and often steals my sound out of nowhere when I wasn’t using it. I’m curious to see how much better (if at all) the pairing - and not pairing when I don’t want it to - works on an Apple designed device.

I was in a similar boat. Wanted a HomePod but 300-349 was a little steep to test. I currently have a Bose sound bar with Bose bass module. LOVE IT - but the bluetooth pairing added too much fuzz when I wanted to play Apple Music. I jumped the gun and bought a HomePod for $199 at Best Buy. Placed it in the living room along side the Bose. Sound quality.... I will actually say it’s comparable to Bose if not better in some aspects (the processing chip constantly reads your room and redistributing vocals, instruments, effects to ensure crisp full sound) you will be shocked how much sound comes out of that thing.. it’s loud :) Siri will hear you even when your tv and music is blasting. From a privacy stand point, Siri is only listening for the keyword and only processes information after you say those words (this was a worry of mine since I read all the Google / Amazon debacle with their assistants. I’ll keep the sporadic drunk Siri over gossiping Alexa / Google any day) I now play music 90% of the time on the HomePod. Occasionally I’ll pair the Bose through airplay and sound is perfectly synced with the HomePod. ill admit, I was originally worried the airplay 2 technology may not work due to it being different brands...(not designed by ) I was wrong. From a sound perspective, the HomePod holds its own next to Bose and I don’t feel cringy playing the HomePod over the Bose... if anything, the simplicity of telling Siri to play me something chill, something I would like, airplay to all speakers or telling her good night to lock the doors, set ac to 65, etc. adds that much more integration and “magic” into your day to day (and less fuzz) now with the added intercom feature... I’m finally getting closer to my smart home Star Treky voice controlled everything dream lol. Back to your point... my Bose sound bar does not interfere at all with HomePod or HomeKit. I can airplay, sync all speakers with no issues.. turn off airplay when you’re done. I don’t get abrupt bluetooth connections and I keep bluetooth constantly on due to devices. I actually just purchased HomePod minis to expand into the bedrooms :) if I was this impressed with the sound and build quality of HomePod, I’m confident I won’t be disappointed with the mini.. understanding it won’t be as loud as the HomePod but still hold its own in smaller settings. Honestly just do it... the worst that can happen is you return it if you don’t like the sound. But I think you’re actually going to be impressed. While I am a Bose guy... I have decided to fill the rest of the house with homepods and that speaks volume. Lastly Siri, I actually felt Siri was slightly enhanced for the HomePod experience.. it does a little more then your usual Siri on your watch / phone. My HomePod’s Siri responds instantly to all requests and controls all the smart devices seamlessly (strong wifi signal helps) The multi user support is also a plus while still remaining private and secure in case of prying eyes. Yes Siri acts up from time to time... but people talk like Google and Alexa are perfect. All Google has going for it is its search engine which allows the assistant to find all your search requests... but when it comes to seamless integration (including your car), HomeKit controls, response times, and privacy... Siri wins. Hope this helps with your decisions!!

Delivery dates now very late December in Australia (18th to 29th) .. I thought I’d hold off on purchasing until I saw some hands on reviews.. now it looks like I won’t get a hands on until 2021

I would say our Homepod/Siri experience is usually very good (not excellent), depending on how strong the wifi connection is where the Homepod is situated. Stronger the wifi, the more responsive Siri is. I believe she responds to smarthome commands about 90% of the time, which is great in school but less great in a home appliance.
This might be why I don't have issues, my house has a UniFi AP in everyroom (30" thick walls so has to be that way), coverage is never an issue.

Your card is not billed until the product ships. So there is a promise of money but it does not change hands.
