AT&T customers?

Yea.... i know. I am in Seattle and they don't have AT&T LTE here yet and I am pissed.... but iPhone 5 is going to force them to get it out ASAP to more markets.

I'm not saying you need to buy it on Day 1, but when you have LTE in your area it will be the main reason to get the phone.

Why am I not exited at all?

I have been waiting to get an iPhone all my life, now that this one looks like "the one"... I just do not care. I am fine with my crappy black berry.

I may get a discontinued 4Gs instead for a cheaper price. That would do.

Not really surprised there. I was confused as to why they only recently allowed for preorders on the same day. They did it for the iPad 3 but for the iPhone 4S I think you had to wait two days for the preorder to open-up. What difference does the preorder date make. It can still ship on the the scheduled date. It just allows people that are excited to get there orders in to do so and be content.

Ah yes, this will bring back good memories of senior year, staying up all night trying to pre-order my iPhone 4, before graduation rehearsal.

What they call '4G' isn't really 4G. It's a misspelled 3G.

AT&T is the scum of the Telecom world (along with Comcast), but they do have SOME LTE, but it seems as though you need to be able to throw a rock and hit the tower to get it. Their HSPA+ is an abomination they like to call 4G that no where else in the world does...

Anyone know if Verizon stores start taking preorders on the same day?

Normally I'd go for Apple's website but I have a $100 Verizon gift card to burn.

Shame, gotta buy it full price if I want to keep my unlimited, unthrottled LTE :(

Are you saying I have to drop unlimited data with AT&T to get the new iPhone or buy it at full price to keep it?

What do you think the limit on the pre order is going to be? I have a family of four with 4 upgrades. Going 4/4 would be nice but unlikely.

If they can, they will. They don't want to miss out on the rush.

I ordered a 4s through Verizon last time around on pre-order day. It went well.

I hope I'm able to keep my unlimited on AT&T. If not... 3GB on LTE will go by so fast!

We've been with AT&T for ~10 years but I think with the release of this iPhone, I'm going to jump ship to Verizon. It looks like I've got good LTE coverage in my area (and I know there is in my normal travel areas like DC) and at the very least I know I'll have reasonably decent voice service here (unlike AT&T).

I originally avoided Verizon due to the concurrent voice/data limitation, but I understand on LTE, that's not an issues, plus I've kind of watched my usage habits over the last year and it wouldn't have been an issue anyway.

I wonder if the new iPhone will be a single product like the 4S (for GSM and CDMA) or like the new iPad with LTE where it's a different model.

Mixed on LTE

If there is ONE major reason I think people should consider upgrading to iPhone 5, it's for the 4G LTE.

Screen size, camera, NFC... blah blah blah.

I WANT MY LTE FINALLY!

I do want LTE, but for tethering only as an emergency access option when I need to use my work laptop and I don't otherwise have connectivity. I recently purchased an iPad on Verizon's LTE, and although the speed is great (awesome, actually), data usage "seems" so great that I typically leave the network off (and, yes, I realize I can turn off the LTE and just use 3G or whatever the alternative is). But other than that, I've been very happy with the 4S (size, capacity, speed, web browsing, etc.), other than the battery, which is a lot worse than my 4. Plus, I have all of these 30-pin dock connector accessories, and the last thing I want to deal with is a bunch of adaptors/new accessories. So I may skip this upgrade and wait until next year.

AT&T should just call it "3G-", because it sucks more than when it said 3G. Half the time I can't get anything to load on my wifes 4S, but sitting next to her my 4 works just fine.

3am on the apple store online has been where I've got mine the past few years

But since it looks like the preorders will start the same day of the announcement, it won't work like that this year.

I'm sure they'll do it like the new iPad preorders and they'll go live shortly after the keynote.

Can't wait for my iPhone 4L, the L stands for Long :p

Pre-Order Pro Tip: Sometimes the mobile Apple Store App has been able to bypass the slowness of the Apple.com site on pre-order day. Give it a try - you might get through much faster.

I will be in Canada till the 23rd of September and I would like to upgrade my unlocked iPhone 4 to the new iPhone. Would it be as simple as pre ordering on the online Apple store and then collecting it at a chosen physical Apple store?
