Salon.com has the story behind one of the stranger acceptance speeches last night:
Bigelow vs. Cameron? Streep vs. Bullock? Forget it. The most riveting face-off during Sunday's Oscar ceremony came early: When producer Elinor Burkett wrestled the microphone away from director-producer Roger Ross Williams after their film, "Music by Prudence," won for best documentary short.

From their interview with Burkett, who took the stage (and the microphone) part way through Williams' acceptance speech:

BURKETT: What happened was the director and I had a bad difference over the direction of the film that resulted in a lawsuit that has settled amicably out of court. But there have been all these events around the Oscars, and I wasn't invited to any of them. And he's not speaking to me. So we weren't even able to discuss ahead of the time who would be the one person allowed to speak if we won. And then, as I'm sure you saw, when we won, he raced up there to accept the award. And his mother took her cane and blocked me. So I couldn't get up there very fast.

Does anybody think The Hurt Locker put more money into publicity, to ensure success at the Oscars, than they spent making the movie? Will the Academy email Nicolas Chartier his Oscar? :D

Is James Cameron happy as he claimed he would be?

Who won for Best Dressed and Worst Dressed? I think I'd pick Sandy Powell for best and Ben Stiller for worst. I didn't watch any of the red carpet stuff.

Best joke by the hosts: Alec Baldwin giving a glowing introduction to Steve Martin and Martin saying "and he's Alec Baldwin". Then reversing the joke at the end of the broadcast, with Martin praising Baldwin and Baldwin saying that's all the time there is.

Worst joke by the hosts: Martin holding on to Kathryn Bigelow's statuette far too long. I don't think she liked that.

Most important thing I learned this year: Missing the live broadcast isn't so bad if you can watch it on DVR and skip the commercials. I stopped for only one commercial: for the iPad!

Ok, just watched The Hurt Locker
I know everyone has their own opinions
But to me, it was "meh"

I didn't really find it that intense or compelling
I suppose the fact that it was Iraq and not a WWII drama makes it closer to home and real
But I honestly was bored in some parts

It was an OK movie

I passed on Avatar and saw no real reason to go see it other than the effects
And having read the story line, I decided the effects weren't enough to make me endure the movie

Only King Mook Mook called Logorama for Best Animated Short Film. How did you know?

You'll laugh when you read this but there are two reasons. This is the only one, I watched and really enjoyed and thought it was very clever. I knew that the Academy, would choose something that is smart, like this. The second reason was that I saw it on Gizmodo, and it seemed to be really popular and they gave it a glowing review (they reviewed it the way I would have). While I really enjoyed it, I didn't think it would win!

Most of my picks were ones that I wanted to win. It was somewhat obvious that Sandra Bullock would win (as she won the previous awards and because she got so many accolades for her performance) but I really, really didn't want her to so I didn't choose her! I also knew that George Clooney wouldn't win for Up in the Air, but I thought he deserved it, as his performance was spectacular, and very deep and not at all two dimensional (unlike Sandra Bullock). It was also quite obvious that some parts of Up in the Air had to be edited out because of the Financial Crisis, and even though it was edited to be less hard hitting, I suppose, it was still a terrific film! If you haven't watched it yet you should, as it was very, very good!
