They do have them, BUT if you use the wrong reservation link, you can't get anything. I just used this link today, scored a 128 silver 7 plus.

https://reserve.cdn-apple.com/US/en_US/reserve/iPhone/availability?iPP=U

I was the only person with a reservation. I did carrier financing just fine. NOTE: I booked the reservation at 12:01AM this morning.. By the time I finished the reservation they were totally sold out.
Use this link and every type of payment is available when u arrive for your reservation is absolutely the easiest and most effective way to go

I've checked via the link for multiples of days. Several times they have had a Black 7 Plus but always in the 32Gb. Never anything other than that. I'll wait on my Matt Black 7 Plus 256GB that I pre-ordered to be delivered to my door. No stress.

Come to think of it, this is EXACTLY how I got my 6+ when they first came out. I pre-ordered but was given a 4-6 week ship date, so I checked every day until a local Apple store had what I wanted in stock and I canceled the pre-order.

Luckily I have 3 apple stores within a 30 min drive, so the chances of one of them having what I want before my pre-order gets fulfilled is good.

That's how it ended up for me last year too. I'll have to keep checking.

I'm a little confused about doing carrier financing at the Apple Store. The online website says you're still subject to a credit check and it's done through CitizenOne if you do that -- if I reserve an iPhone on the Apple website and do carrier financing in store, will that be the standard adding $35 on to my bill every month with my carrier, or is it a separate financing agreement? I'm not really looking for a hard inquiry on my credit for a phone.

The payment is not on your cell phone bill. I believe they take it from the credit card you set it up with though you can change it after. It is a hard credit check.

Not true. I was able to reserve Sunday morning and walk in when the store opened an picked up a plus.

You got yours from Saturday night shipment ready for Sunday morning like I did. To make it clear, Apple don't get shipment in on Sundays so come Monday inventory is almost depleted. It's good to try really hard after Monday like I have mentioned.

Ok. Got it. Just happy I got a phone instead of waiting for my preordered phone.

What they should do is ship preorders early. So you preorder on a Friday, preorders deliver the folllowing week. The week after preorders deliver, than you can get them in stores.

No. They get delivery daily, sometimes even on Sunday. I would know, I used to be part of the ecosystem at Apple. Just make your reservation at 12:01AM local time and enjoy your phone.

Here's the part that pissed me off. Instead of Apple fulfilling early preorders, the Apple Stores are getting shipments in to have a handful available for anyone every morning.

I was able to walk out with an IPhone 7 Plus Black 256GB in 45 Mins while the one I've preordered at :15 is yet to be shipped. Just reserve one online as an APPLE UPDATE PROGRAM and you are guarantee to get one no matter how you purchased it. Mine was At@t Next Program. Around 12am local is when they update their inventory using this https://reserve.cdn-apple.com/US/en...1&sourceID=email&rv=0&path=&iPP=U&appleCare=Y

P.S. The best time to check for a refresh in stock is after Monday since they dont' get a shipment on Sunday.

You have to know this would happen. That is why when delivery dates slipped on pre order night. Rather than order I just went to sleep. I was then able to pick up a phone effortlessly yesterday.

Unless apple closes all of its stores until pre orders are fulfilled. Not going to happen. You'll always be able to get a device quicker than waiting.

I guess one could get pissed... 12 years ago. But this is how it's worked with Apple preorders since the iPods got popular. When both the online and B&M stores sell a product the inventory is separate even though it's fulfilled by the same parent company. Honestly, the only exception I can think of is the AW which wasn't sold in stores for the first few months after launch.

Preordering gets you a pretty much "guaranteed by" ship date whereas reserving takes a bit more effort and no guarantee, so there is that. Ultimately, it's a phone. The second you get yours, whenever that is, you'll forget about your "ordeal." A couple months later you'll be here on MR lusting after the next version.

Still no pluses available at any of the 3 local Apple stores here.

So you're saying try just right after midnight and not 8am? They update their inventory around midnight? I guess maybe that's why I don't see a single plus in any of the stores. I'll have to try just after midnight tonight (if I'm still up).

Hi,
When I try to make a reservation using this link:
https://reserve.cdn-apple.com/US/en...1&sourceID=email&rv=0&path=&iPP=U&appleCare=Y

It says:

iPhone Upgrade Program*
  • Get a new iPhone every year
  • AppleCare+ included
And when I remove the "iPP=U&appleCare=Y" from the URL it just says they're not taking any more reservations.

If I make the reservation using this, when I get to the Apple Store can I just buy the phone without applecare+/IUP?

Theoretically, yes. And many people, including myself, have had success reserving a phone through the IUP link and paying in full without IUP or Apple care. However, some people have reported being turned away or given a hard time. For what it's worth, the confirmation email you get after you make a reservation states that you can select other payment options than IUP.

For more info, see this thread.

I can confirm that the provided link has worked for me and a few friends. Check the site at midnight and early morning to see the inventory of local Apple Stores. Reserve. Pick-Up. No issues...

Well, they have to have some in stores. It's impractical to ship all preorders then start stocking them in store. I did the same thing - reserved one online and picked it up, after cancelling my preorder. Best way to do it. Got sick of waiting.
[doublepost=1474739879][/doublepost]Check istocknow.com periodically throughout the day. Apple Stores get shipments throughout the day.

Get your guaranteed ship date and try your luck at a store. It doesn't make sense for a store to have zero numbers of the number one product they sell until after everyone who wants one already has their hands on it.

I picked up the Watch I wanted launch day just on a whim and yet the one I ordered at 3:04am wasn't supposed to arrive until two weeks later. Why should I be mad that actual brick and mortar stores are getting stock too? The next complaint will be they Best Buy and Target are allowed to sell watches even when Apple can't fulfill their own direct orders.

This is insane, it basically means nothing to eagerly anticipate and stay up to pre-order the iPhone if any basic joe plumber can walk in and pick one up on accident.

Going to keep tabs on local inventory now.....
What do you have against plumbers?

OK, I'll give this a shot at 12:01 a.m.

Will it let me cancel my preorder that's still processing AFTER a reserve a Phone?

I want to use AT&T Next -- when does it do the hard credit check, when I reserve or at the store? I don't plan to use IUP and don't really want to waste an inquiry on a phone. Seen some conflicting reports.

Yes, you cancel the preorder minutes before purchasing it at the store. Reserving it online using the IUP does not require a hard credit check until you get it at the store and At&t Next does not require it all as long as the line is eligible for an upgrade.

Fantastic, thanks. Will give it a shot!

Fourth day in a row my local Apple Store had what I want in stock and it won't let me reserve it. I get this message every time...

"We’re sorry, but this service is currently unavailable."

I just tried again and STILL get this message.

Wtf

Called my local Apple store to check availability of the 7+ plus since my preorder for a black 128gb is in the processimg limbo. They have a rose gold plus 128gb which i don't mind. I cancelled my preoreder and rep processed the new order and will pick it up tomorrow. I will check though if the matte black is available.
