Just be sure to fully exercise the batteries in both machines before you make a final decision. regardless of what people say about LI being ready at birth it's not true. Users show gains with LI after using them a few times. Just something to keep in mind. I have read alot of users getting more than 6-7 with the TB model too. I am reserving judgement until I have spent a week or two with this machine.

I Definitely will give it time. It will most likely be a week side by side. That price match is probably going to contribute a great deal to my decision though. A $300 difference isn't bad, but a $500 difference is pretty significant at these price points.

I picked up a 15" space gray at the local Apple Store this am (Pittsburgh) and cancelled my Best Buy order. Love it so far!

Which branch? I just called Shadyside branch and they said no mbp w/ touchbar at store. Sad :(

I love the keyboard as well. My fingers get so fatigued when pressing the buttons so hard. Now I can do light touches and the keys register. That's great for my use. I also love the display.

aren't you the one who said this was a giant brick??

I did say that. I also said I love the keyboard 478 times before that....but MR remembers the one time I complained about the minuscule amounts of ram Apple is portioning out to customers.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if Best Buy fulfills the pre-orders themselves from bulk shipment, or if they are actually shipped from Apple? I was surprised that they show the same status bar (Processing, preparing, shipped, etc...) for the apple pre-orders.

BB fulfills them theirselves.

I think I asked the question twice why you need that much RAM. I suppose you don't care to answer it, and this thread isn't the place for it. So go update your thread and enlighten us as to why the heck you need 32gb of Ram.

If you read further down that thread you'll see that I stated that I no longer needed 32GB of ram because I no longer need Docker in a VM. Docker has a native version I can use now. In any case, I'm very happy with my 15" MBP now that I have it and am using it.

There are some 13" available locally. I'm kind of tempted to buy one and see how it does with FCPX. I went with the 15" for performance reasons, but the 13" MAY be fast enough for my needs and if I'm not mistaken, I could return the 13" even opened if it isn't, or keep it and cancel the 15" pre-order.

Anyone know with certainty if they will take back an opened MacBook (undamaged clearly)? I normally don't like doing things like that, but given their recent service level, I really wouldn't feel too bad.

Awesome! I am glad your experience proved to be different than just reading all the reviews on it. I feel the same way. I was on the fence but so far I am loving it. My final decision will be most difficult deciding which size I want to stick with. 13 inch comes tomorrow and I will be doing side by side tests. The screen on the 15 is going to be difficult to turn away from. But it is a large piece.

Either way so far I like it alot. Glad you feel the same

Store at Ross Park Mall. I was there at opening. At that time they had the base model 15" in silver only and the upgraded 15" in silver and space gray (I bought the space gray and don't know if they had another or not) I don't know what they had in the 13" models and would definitely call before making a trip there. You might want to check the store at South Hills Village as well. Good luck.

Now I'm heated....... I just called a local BB store to confirm they did indeed have the 13" in stock.
Not only do they have them, but they have some 15" that they are saying they cannot sell to me.

On hold with call center yet again..... In summary, we guarantee by the 16, we change the date, we have one in a store right next to you today, you can't have it.

If you're talking about Best Buy, yes. You have 14 days to return it even if opened/used. Actually you might have more than 14 as they're on their extended return for the holiday season.

I'm in the same boat as well.

Update. According to the rep, I will have an email within the next 2 hours that I can go pick it up this evening...

Betting is now open.

you gotta bail on those guys and hit an Apple store. Find another retailer, don't give them your business speak with your feet.

Confirmed, the BB associate I spoke to had it in hand while we talked.

So Best Buy may have some 15" in store but won't sell until Monday?
[doublepost=1479331728][/doublepost]Unfortunately, nearest apple store is over 3 hours away, and I head out of the country on Sunday...

Best Buy didn't handle this well, but I'm wondering if Apple is more at fault for the screw up than Best Buy.

I'm in a chat with Apple now, trying to see if they can tell me if they imposed the 11/21 date... :)

I'm guessing BB did it themselves waiting for more stock so they deliver all pre-orders at once.

Apple's response regarding "street date":

  • "In truth, Apple has no internal policies that are imposed externally, to put it shortly the that protocol is all Best Buy."

I'm sure it's apple. Hasn't FedEx been delaying until Monday as well?

I tried to get an answer last evening from Best Buy re the reason for the delayed shipping. I was on the phone for at least 15 minutes, most of that time on hold, talking to someone who kept asking me to repeat my info and putting me on hold when she obviously couldn't answer the question. I didn't get anything close to an explanation and finally just said thanks and goodby.

Those rats! May they go under like circuit city . I have to buy from them though cause I opened a card just to get 10% rewards back lol :( would be a waste if I just went with another retailer.
