I ordered a 15" on the 29th and still awaiting auth and in progress. bestbuy cs keeps telling me that the 21st is the release date and thats why we won't get them until then. thats great that yours is preparing for shipment. if its 1 day shipping you might receive it by tomorrow if it ships today! keep us updated as to any changes.
I hope they do next day shipping.Hopefully yours also starts showing some movement soon!

When was yours originally delayed till last night?
The same as everybody else's it was originally scheduled to be delivered by today then got the email saying it got delayed until the 21st.

I picked up a 15" space gray at the local Apple Store this am (Pittsburgh) and cancelled my Best Buy order. Love it so far!
 
Just went to the Apple Store and picked up a SG 15 inch MBP. On it now. Beautiful machine, really nice laptop. One thing I am dubious on is the TB, but only because I am confused by it at first. Definitely slick, but has a learning curve. One thing is for sure these laptops are smooth as silk like all Mac machines. Screen is incredible and the 15 is fast fast fast.

Tomorrow when the 13 inch arrives I will be A/B testing (not super technically) the two and then making a decision which one I like best. Gotta be honest, it's going to be hard to part with this screen size on the 15. But it is a very heavy laptop.
 
Does anyone know if Apple Stores are stocking ultimate configs?
only way to know is if you go there..Although it wasn't a matter of config for me ( I just want to get my hands on it) the one I have is upgraded. 2.7 with the 455 16gb 512
 
Called two apple stores. My closest store told me they have base 15" but only in silver. The other store told me they were told its online exclusive only right now for all 15" and they were surprised to hear some stores received stock. I'm looking for 15" base in sg so no go for me lol
 
Funny, everyone is going space gray this time around, and I'm going silver.

i've had the 12" space gray, wanting something a little different, may change my mind, who knows.
 
Got off the phone with BestBuy support. One of the worst experiences, I was told my Macbook Pro was on back order, 13 inch model. I said I never received an e-mail and I would like to speak to supervisor. Spoke to the supervisor, he acknowledged that the item is not on backorder and that the warehouse has acknowledged availability and is preparing for shipping. Hoping to get tomorrow.

After talking to a "manager" at the call center last night, and explaining that I have in writing the guarantee for 11/16, he actually said "I'd like to be able to help you, but I can't afford to get fired".

Couldn't make that up if I tried...



Got off the phone with BestBuy support. One of the worst experiences, I was told my Macbook Pro was on back order, 13 inch model. I said I never received an e-mail and I would like to speak to supervisor. Spoke to the supervisor, he acknowledged that the item is not on backorder and that the warehouse has acknowledged availability and is preparing for shipping. Hoping to get tomorrow.
 
BB has always done some ass backwards things. I have the no TB model and it is currently on sale at micro center. In order to get a price match I had to go to the store and return and rebuy the item. Seriously?! They can't do that adjustment as something else in their system.

Just took delivery of my 13" TB version, so I am really looking forward to side by side comparisons.
 
I absolutely hate Apple's supply model. They are generally a pull supply model, they will gauge demand and then produce the bare minimum of that demand and know that people are willing to wait.

I edited my post. I have both now and am going to try them side by side. I honestly think the TB will go back based solely on battery life. I am reading a lot of users barley getting 7 hours. That is over 3 hours less than I get right now with the non-TB.

The 15 in REALLY nice. I am getting used to the size. I don't travel alot with my laptop so this one might make sense for me. Even still it's very portable. What are your thoughts on the keyboard?

I love the keyboard. I have been using a rMB 12" for the last year and the magic keyboard at work. I think it is a perfect blend of the two. In order of preference: 13" new pro > magic keyboard > 13" old pro > rMB 12"

Apple has become a Massdrop/Kickstarter company.

Just like most companies, a guarantee means next to nothing. Someone said they offered them a measly $10 gift card. I am sure if you pushed enough you could get that pushed to $50.

That is one of the better things about Amazon. They do not give you a date until they actually know.

Just be sure to fully exercise the batteries in both machines before you make a final decision. regardless of what people say about LI being ready at birth it's not true. Users show gains with LI after using them a few times. Just something to keep in mind. I have read alot of users getting more than 6-7 with the TB model too. I am reserving judgement until I have spent a week or two with this machine.

In an "attempt" to ensure I was doing the right thing before cancelling my Apple order, I called twice, used chat once, and all 3 confirmed the 16th was real.

I know darned well there is nothing customer service can do about it at this point, and really I called to see if they had ANY valuable info to share, and to see if they offered any good will (I really don't care about getting a gift card, but I'm always interested to see how companies handle customer service).

My experience was enough to learn that I will never place an order with them again. Not because the date was missed, but because of how it has been handled.

I hear you..But you do realize his guarantee is meaningless right? It doesn't guarantee or bind anything. So it's really not useful to even ask. Point is BB stinks. we can all agree on that

I love the keyboard as well. My fingers get so fatigued when pressing the buttons so hard. Now I can do light touches and the keys register. That's great for my use. I also love the display.
