Got my tracking info a few hours ago, with Apple reporting delivery on March 16th :)

I ship quite a bit with UPS, and I can tell you that their tracking info online isn't always perfect, nor up to date. They can also take up to 24 hours to register the tracking info, EVEN WITH THE PACKAGE MOVING IN THEIR SYSTEM. So, for those worried that they won't get their delivery on Friday just because the tracking isn't updating, don't worry. These are getting shipped via UPS Express Saver, which is overnight to most parts of North America.

I've shipped items overseas to Europe and the middle east in the past with UPS where the tracking was still showing as "ready for pickup, and the items were already at the hub in Germany.

Thanks for the info...!

Hopefully, we can all get them on Friday!

I have - says it will deliver on March 16

Thanks, lucky you!! If you don't mind me asking, when did you order? Was it March 8th evening? I know some folks who ordered same day as me but in the morning, got their shipping notice.

I'm wondering if they just stuck me in the 2nd batch (March 19) because I ordered in the evening or something.

I ordered mine right as the Apple Online Store opened up to the public last Wednesday.

Got an email Monday saying will be delivered March 16th. However, UPS still shows "Order Processed: Ready for UPS".

I hope it's just a delay in the system... fingers crossed.

+1 Same thing for me. It went out 2 days ago but still UPS doesn't show even where it is going to leave by. However, it is UPS Express Saver and that is overnight delivery. I'm not holding my breath because I'm up in Whitehorse.

my iPad finally shipped yesterday early morning, march 13.

is it normal that my tracking with ups is still not working? it says "UPS could not locate the shipment details for your request."

Same Here: Ordered on 3/7, Shipped on 13th, and still cannot locate the shipment details... Delivering in Toronto BTW.

They have to be teasing us, since my Telus sim card has a tracking number that "works" and the iPad is still lolnoway.

Why not go with one of the flex plans. I think the max for telus is still $35 for 5Gb. That way you'd only be paying min $5 each month for those months you don't use data.

The only plans that were listed on the iPad preorder page are as follows:
250 MB for 15$ " Bell, Telus and Rogers"
500 MB for 20$ " only Telus "
5 GB for 35$ " Bell, Telus and Rogers"
I didn't see any Felxi plans, may be they have different plans for 4G
It also said it's going to be month by month and you can change the bundle any time and cancel anytime no penalties.
Any suggestions ??

Add me to the stuck waiting for UPS site to actually show something :p

As for Data Plans - Virgin Mobile has 10 MB / $5 , 250 MB / $20, 5GB / $35 Flexi Plan. So your charged based on what you use.

I got the 64 GB / White / 4G. Plan to just tether in Canada (iPhone 4 w/ 6GB data plan) but would like to get prepaid SIM in US when travelling. (instead of paying ridiculous Data Rates as I have the last couple times :p )

Those are the prepaid data plans. The Flex plans that you are talking about are treated like any other data plan, so it's on a bill like a cell phone. Downside of that there is a $35 activation fee doing it that way. The prepaid way there isn't one.

So what's the point of getting flexi plan if you can only pay for the month you need data. Cause 5 dollars for 10Mb is not really data :) I mean 4G is gonna get them in the blink of an eye :D
Any way I'm just trying to get the best value so whatever you think better let us know ;)

That's true. As a Rogers employee, I've seen these "reasons":

1) Some people just want it in a bill style rather than automatically coming off a credit card.
2) People consolidate with an existing account which could give them a discount.
3) People want the reps in store to do all the setup and don't want to do it themselves...(yeah...I know)

For myself, I'm getting the Flex Plan, only because I get a decent discount off my first mobile internet product, but it can't be the prepaid option.

so what the hell is going on..
ups tracking number still says " UPS could not locate the shipment details for your request. Please verify your information and try again later."

ridiculous.

if many people get this "error" we can probably assume, that everything is alright. if i was the only one i would maybe start thinking about a "lost" package after reading that fedex thread.

so everythings gonna be fine by friday night (if you are in zone 1) ;)

Well that makes sense.
I'm with Koodo now with Flexi Data but the iPhone 4S battery is not the best so tethering kills the battery in no time and I'd prefer to benefit from the 4G capability :)
So I'm going for a different provider any way unless I find a provider who can match the same bundle I have with Koodo which is quite impossible :(
Ah since you work with Rogers why didn't provide 4G in Alberta :D ? Any plans to ?
Thanks

Take a breath, you are ok. None of these tracking numbers are going to update until early afternoon today (Thursday) - at the earliest. More likely they will start updating between 6 and 10pm tonight.

It appears that the iPads are already warehoused here in North America, and will not be released for shipment until today. Apple's systems are very automated, so the minute they produce a shipping label, their backend system automatically updates the orders to shipped, even if they haven't left the warehouse. Due to the shear volume of orders, they would have HAD to have started processing orders days ago, which is why some people got shipping notices days ago, and others just recently. Just because a label is produced doesn't mean it has been released to UPS for shipment.

In talking to my Apple Business Rep today, he eluded to the fact that Apple has very substantial stock of the new iPad here in North America, unlike previous product launches.

I'd also point to the fact that the shipment notices are reporting UPS Express Saver as the service, which points to a North American origin. Items shipped from China by Apple via UPS typically use the UPS World Ease service.

So, relax and enjoy the day. If your tracking isn't updating in 24 hours, be worried, until then, don't sweat it.

Mine has finally entered the UPS systems, however my package is UPS standard.

Will I still get it tomorrow?

Mine was ordered instantly on the 7th, and I got my shipping email on the 13th. The email itself said it was shipped the 13th, with a 16th arrival, but to this point the tracking number still doesn't work. Likewise with my Apple TV tracking number. Hmmmmmmm....
