Preparing For Shipment status at Apple

Anyone have an idea why the phones for international order like mine - Canada - say "ships by October 14" instead of "delivery by October 14th" like in the US?
I just find that odd. I wonder if that means we won't get them delivered on the 14th and that it might be better to go to the store on that day.
Any ideas?
I only ask because this is the first time Canada has been able to preorder an iPhone.

Mine is still processing. I ordered it as soon as the ATT premiere site was working again (through Apple though). 32gb white.

You had to Press up up down down left right left right b a on your keyboard at the order screen, and it allowed you to order the 65gb version. I think its too late to switch now though.

I ordered from AT&T premiere last time. Never again. Went apple.com this time. Not that it didn't arrive on time, just no updates at all. Everyone else was tracking their phone, and mine sat as processing the entire time.

See above. This is also bothering me. My order is worded the exact same way... "Ships by October 14th" whereas US orders say "Delivered by October 14th" (or something along those lines).

I ordered it though apple.com but the premiere site was down which cause all sorts of problems with apple verifying us being able to upgrade.
 
My Black 64gb AT&T from Apple Store just changed to Preparing for Shipment.

I placed my order around 10-11 am CST on Friday.
 
i ordered with an ATT rep over the phone Friday morning around 9 am PST. I have not gotten an email, and when i check the status online it gives me an error. I called in yesterday to confirm it was taken and they said the order is in place.

anyone last year have a similar occurrence? I will be leaving friday evening and will need my 4S for the weekend :/
 
Mine's still proccessing, 32 gig white ATT. I ordered within an hour of pre-orders starting, probly more like 45 minutes. Got my confirm email and when i check status my upgrade is gone, but i still wish it'd prepare for shipment already.

Don't worry!! I ordered mine at 3:45AM EST and it still shows it as "Processing". It is a 32GB White on AT&T exactly like yours. Our orders must be coming from the same place. :)

I received my email from apple at 345am to complete my reservation for my white 32 gig Att and it's still processing too.

I ordered a 16 gig black Att about 45 mins later for a friend who doesnt have credit cards and didnt want to deal with debit card issues and that one is preparing for shipment.

Come to think of it, I don't think I've seen anybody who ordered a 32GB White have a "Preparing for Shipping" status.
 
ordered friday morning, around 9:30 ish, confirmation from apple came like 3 and half hours later, and yesterday status changed to preparing for shipment my 32 black 4s! Yeah!!!:):):)

Exact same thing! But I did get an email to accept the terms and conditions. Just still can't check status.
I wish I could have order that phone through Apple like my other lines but that one gave me an error (order already placed). Hopefully AT&T will get it here.
 
Still at processing this morning. I have an obsession with tracking things. I'm doing it with the case I ordered too.
 
My white 32gb AT&T iPhone is now "preparing for shipment" ordered from Apple at 12:40am.
