This is exactly right. I grew up in NYC and know his type very well. The ironic thing is that the guys like Trump utterly despise mid-America and rural people, but they always use those people to further their aims.
those people are too stupid to know what they're doing. I live in rural southern illinois and nobody around here that voted for him has any idea what any of his actions mean, they just know that he's reversing things obama did, and that is enough to make them happy.

The telephone. Go to your bank. Go to your credit union.
Telephone is even less secure. And even if you go directly to a bank or whatever, you think your SSN never reaches the internet from that point? These days they're often just filling out the same application that you'd be doing at home.

Outside of financial institutions, many services simply require the SSN and have no option besides the internet.

Because the other choice was any better?

She was. Still one of the worst presidential candidates we've had in a while, but compared to Trump? No contest.

So when are you guys going to impeach this latest republican idiot?
I may not be American but come on, we've got dumb conservatives too (and yes a dumb population that googles "what is the EU", after voting us OUT OF THE EU!) but ours are at least somewhat tolerable. Yours are downright dangerous morons and everyone in the entire world knows it except you! This guy is meant to be the leader of the 'free' world, and he's making us all less free, less safe, and less of a nice place to be.

So theres my 'two cents' as you say across the pond. Impeach him. Because everything this guy does, doesn't just affect the US, its affects everyone else too. Hence my little rant.

Ok, rant over. Get rid of this spoiled child! STOP VOTING IDIOTS PRESIDENT!

C7uU46KXQAIZhWp.jpg

As long as Republicans control congress, he's not getting impeached. If by some miracle democrats make serious gains in 2018 it could happen then, but that's... very unlikely.

I don't think he'll get a second term though. Even with his rabid fanbase, his support is already waining.

I'm amazed at how ignorant so many of you are. Do you even know what freedom is anymore?

What you are seeing here is the opposite of the Obummer era idea of government - passing laws and regulations to control absolutely everything. What you are witnessing is the gradual return of the free market - getting government out of everything.

De-regulate it all! If a truly free market (not a crony-capital one) can be allowed to flourish, you will eventually see services improve and costs go down. You don't like how one company is treating you (or your data)? Then switch to someone else. The only role government should have is to prevent monopolies. Government should not run anything. Government's constitutionally sanctioned roles are few, and telling ISPs what to do is not one of them...

Can we have a free-for-all orgy of anything goes with no laws at all? Certainly not, but the path being trod for several decades now has been in the wrong direction. Will these changes be perfect, smooth sailing? Of course not. Freedom is messy, but it's freedom! It allows you to choose instead of being controlled (regulated) to death. Thank God the last 8 years are over.

Oh, and almost everything Trump has done so far is just a repeal of executive actions that the former dipschnitzel didn't really have the authority to implement in the first place.

Very useless law the NSA already has your dick pic, browsing history and pretty much everything I think Trump just wanted to officially include the ISP to the party. Bush then Obama then Trump they're all watching you. Anyways I think the VPN market is about to expand big time. Kudos to David Icke who said that all politicians including Trump are puppets of the hidden hands.. anyways..we'll see

That is a point... how can VPN's be excluded from all this excatly ?

If all these bills are targeted at getting inf from ISP's, and more browsing history to paint a picture, why are VPN providers all excluded ? There can easily be a law that says "All VPN providers must store logs" No government has even thought of that yet is boggles the mind.

I prefer privacy, but seems VPN's are on the free stand here, and always will be

These days its all "exclusion" and "policies" in place that prevent one from handing off to another, but there is no reason why it cannot be done..... They'd be riots, but if the governments want sharing to be done, they could allow it for any info they lie between companies.

It's only "they go to some length to protect our privacy" that keeps them in check..

MY reaction is always, is that just a time bomb waiting to go off very soon ? I think it is.

I'm still surprised at the toxic stew of ignorance and mental gymnastics it must take to trust so blindly in private corporations, whose only interest is that of increasing shareholder profit.

You are right about one thing: that the last 8 years - i.e. the outstanding recovery from the worst economic catastrophic in modern times, by nearly every measurable metric - are over.

Americans must be pretty satisfied with these changes from Mr. Trump considering they elected him. You get what you asked for.

Government mandating we have no privacy rights to our own browsing history is more government interference not less. Using this screwed up logic, you could say, the local Gym has the right to sell what I did in my shower cubicle because government is allowing my privacy to be violated by the business that provides the service. Also there is a difference in me giving Google or Yahoo my information voluntarily. But the ISP's do not need my permission to spy on me and sell my browsing data without my permission. See the difference?

When you sign up for any service, do you simply click "agree" on the terms and conditions, or do you like living in a bubble, assuming that a third-party has your best interests at heart?

Well that's an ignorant statement.

Thanks for expounding with your keen intellect. ::rolls Eyes::

I love it when people make jokes not knowing that there are a huge group of people who would be fine getting rid of the FDA and openly politically advocate it- many of them cancer pts because many FDA regulations slow the rate of experimental drug introduction. I think we need an FDA but it is a profound lack of imagination to believe if the FDA disappeared private institutions would not find some way to do the same things.

FDA is vital and serves an important role. All cancer drugs are fast tracked through the FDA. Drug companies work closely with the government because drug safety is very important to both parties. My father in law is the head of drug research and development at one of the largest pharmaceuticals in the country and I've never heard him complain. It's a good partnership.

Now when the government wants to spy on you they won't even need to go through the courts...they can just pay your ISP to hand over all your history. They'll probably even get a volume discount.

- Kick people off health insurance aka legally sentence Americans to death, to make more money
- Privatize education to make more money
- Roll back climate change rules to make more money
- Sell your browsing history to make more money

I wonder what Trump will do next to suck the life out of the American people.

Because the other choice was any better?
Are you implying she wasn't?

Do you believe she would have sold your private data?

How many Democrats voted for this?

ISPs are government granted monopolies. They are SUPPOSED to be regulated, because that's what happens to free market monopolies. Free markets only benefit the consumer when there are lots of sellers.

If you want to argue that ISPs shouldn't be regulated as monopolies, then you can do that, but that means you now have dozens of phone wires hanging outside of your house, like what happened in the era before the FCC. This caused a lot of safety problems, in addition to looking like your neighborhood is an industrial wasteland.

Do you want dozens of phone lines hanging outside your house?

You want more government regulations. Government regulation is a good thing.

This is why we want government - so they prevent people from doing what they want. We created government to limit the rights and freedoms of people. That's the entire purpose of government. It's a social contract that says: You don't get to do the things you want to do, and I let you live.

So not be a libertarian. Libertarianism isn't a smart philosophy, and only the ignorant follow it.

It's important to note that the Obama-era rules never took effect, so this is preserving the status quo. There is a separate debate on whether the rules are good or bad, but let's make sure we know the background.

There are a couple points here. One point is that the rule was to take effect in December and we were looking foward to it, it was a done deal and about time. The other point is far worse, which as others have pointed out here: the new law Trump just signed not only rolls back that rule from the Obama era but also prevents the FCC from making any more rules, period. So it's like "We've now said they can sell your stuff so get over it, and don't come crying to mama any more."

This is stupid. Now there will be some crazy patchwork of laws state by state about what can and cannot be sold of your data without consent. Like if you notice there are already special laws in California, and so on some sites' privacy statements you'll see "For your California rights, click here..." etc. Now there'll end up being a raft of links like that on privacy statements.

And how are those state laws enforceable? You live in California but your data lives in... some server in Virginia? Who's gonna know when your data leaks out of some site to the highest bidder. It's not like they plan to email you a copy of a sales receipt when your ISP sells your info down the river.

What step forward has Trump taken? He's been nothing but leaps and bounds backwards.

Hopefully one step closer towards a heart attack at least. I mean no ill will towards anyone, but this man is a disgrace to the human race and his policies can have an impact far greater than just on the American people.
