I don't like "Pro" or "Max" for the iPhone. To me, there would have been much more simplicity and elegance with just "iPhone 11" and "iPhone 11 Plus," leaving it to buyers of the "Plus" to specify which screen size they preferred.

That said, no one asked me and it's not like I'm going to be thinking about the name of the phone while I'm using it. So, whatever.

If memory serves right, the first gen iPad Pro came with 32 gb of storage, 4 gb ram and sported a lightning port.

That was also 3.5 years ago.

Things change, Apple doesn't.

It's just marketing. Phil Schiller said it at the event. "It's a device that pros can count on to get their work done, but it's also a product for all of us who want simply the best product made, even if we're not a pro."

It's also to clean up and align the product lines. Base -> Better Performance

Tablet: iPad -> iPad Air - iPad Pro

Phone: iPhone 11 -> iPhone 11 Pro

Laptops: MacBook Air -> MacBook Pro

All in One: iMac -> iMac Pro

Workstation: Mac Pro

Small Form Factor: Mac Mini, iPad Mini

It's not that hard, folks.

Best iPad is iPad mini

Best iPhone doesn't exist

A pro machine cannot have 64 gb of storage.

A pro machine cannot have 4 gb of ram.

A pro machine cannot have a lightning port.

iPhone Pro = iPhone Deluxe.

They should stop calling it the iPhone Pro(fessional).

Not sure why people haven't figured this out yet, but "Pro" has NEVER meant anything but the more expensive model with better specs/features.

I mean, what does it mean to be a "professional" device? Is there some defined standard specifications that meets the needs of all professionals, whether they be professional artists, educators, athletes, healthcare workers, etc.?
It's just a marketing term that means the higher end model.

I can't believe how many arguments I've seen over whether a device is "Pro" or not.

since apple made the trash can mac pro, and removed true 'pro' ports on MacBooks, the 'Pro' moniker has stopped meaning anything.

In live production (where I use these 'Pro' machines), more and more crews are switching to Windows laptops - something I'd thought I'd never see.

Tim said it himself and I agree...the iPhone 11 is the best iPhone.
But not the best Pro IPhone now that there is a pro.

Of course it isn’t but how else were they going to hype it?

It all depends on how you see things. I don't care about the marketing term and I definitely do not associate it with pros that need a phone for specific business needs.
For me it's just the high end iPhone.

Some "pro" features though do exist:
  • battery life
  • cameras

At best it should've been called 'iPhone 11 with Pro Camera' since nothing else about the phone is more pro than previous gen. Even Pro Camera is debatable since it's catching up to the competition with regards to wide angle, night mode, higher zoom, etc.

I think that the iPhone is not playing catch up (apart from the night mode). I think that it has implemented features we have seen in Android phones, in a much better way, in a typical Apple fashion.Of course the verdict is still out and we will have to wait and see.

So iPhone 11 Some Pro Max @ $1500

You can vote with your wallet. Nobody is forcing you to buy the new iPhone. I understand that some people have an issue with Apple using the Pro name, but as I wrote, I only see that as a marketing term, nothing else..

I do vote with my wallet, Apple has missed out on thousands of dollars from me over the last few years, I am one person though but I am very picky now with their partial upgrades at premium prices, hence I do not have any device newer than 2 years at this time and less devices than I would have as well....thanks, my wallet is speaking loud.

I don't agree with the pricing too, but I don't see that many choices out there. I can choose to buy nothing, buy an Android phone, or get the new iPhone. For me, even at this price level, the iPhone is the best choice and that's why I am buying it..

Actually Apple has surpassed the competition with dynamic hdr, dynamic hdr in video, video in general and has equaled or exceeded the competition in picture quality. (No manufacturer checks every single box) Now if you’re referring to “lenses”...

No Android phone can even touch the quality of video recording that iPhones have. None! Even the biggest Android fanboys admit that..

iPhone .11. Pro .Max .

LOL what a stupid long name for a phone.

A "Pro" phone in 2019 should have a 90hz display or higher. And like 8GB RAM ( 6GB minimum ). And a camera that's easily #1 best in class, but itlli probably be just as good as the Pixel 4 camera, doubtfully better.

Oh well, the Apple lovers will lap it up and buy it in record numbers. Just like McDonald's Big Mac, the #1 selling hamburger .

XR at $599 is a great phone for a whole lot of people. It would be an even better deal at refurbished prices.
